The silver tabby rolled out of her nest. She felt uncertain about today. She felt uncertain about her training skills. She felt uncertain about her apprentice. Sighing she looked up at the slightly grey hued sky... Even the sun seemed uncertain today as if refused to peek out of its fluffy prison. She set her gaze on the nearing den, quietly calling out Ivys name. Stepping away and padding towards the entering and leaving point of the camp she sat. Waiting to be joined. She shifted uneasy, then scolded her self. Blinking, and breathing in the day seemed to help. She thought to there last session. Ivypaw showed great promise and skill of course she also seemed reserved or distant unless it was a complement it would seem. River ran through it in her mind until she knew it wouldn't help. Looking up she gave a faint smile. "You up for a battle intro today?"

[[ sorry I'm late! I got sick for an entire week x.x ]]Ivy felt uncharacteristically uncertain about the day herself. Ever since the last training session she'd had with Rivershade, something odd had been lingering in her chest. It seemed she had made Rivershade feel less than pleasant the last time they had trained, and it had left her feeling something she honestly had barely felt before. Guilt.
It didn't feel right, to be ashamed of something she had done, but for some reason she did. She didn't like it. It was uncomfortable. She had hoped that Rivershade would get over it, so that the feeling would go away, but despite the smile on her face as she greeted her apprentice, Ivy felt that there was still something wrong. It seemed that she would have to do something in order to help her mentor get back in higher spirits. The problem with that, though, was that Ivy specialized in analyzing others in order to figure out how to take them apart- not how to put them back together. Maybe it would help her feel better, if she helped Rivershade feel better. Other cats were always talking about how they liked helping- maybe trying that would actually do some good.
"I am," she nodded, trying to seem enthusiastic, but it was so odd to her. She was excited, truely, but showing it in her voice was a concept that was somewhat foreign to her. Her excitement was naturally more subtle than that of some others. She didn't need to bounce around like a kit to show that she was eager about something, and she hardly liked to. She trotted towards Rivershade and glanced at the fresh-kill pile that had been growing smaller during the middle of bare-leaf, frowning. "Maybe we should hunt together sometime later," she offered, nodding towards the pile. "Outside of training." Maybe Ivy making an effort to bridge whatever gap Rivershade saw between them would lift her spirits a little.

River flicked her ears slightly surprised by the excitement Ivypaw was expressing. She wasn't sure how to interpret it... Before she was able to say anything she got her answer. Well at least some one was feeling chipper this morning she thought to her self. "We best get moving then" she followed Ivys gaze towards the small prey pile. She gave a short nod, "I'm sure the clan would be most grateful for such efforts" she said still reserved. Flicking her tail she started out of the open area. Into the small patch of woods until she was able to spot the temporal battle field. "Show me your hunters crouch" she said with a blankish expression. She sat down ready to teach all she could to this feline. With a small sigh, she attempted to push away her clouded emotions.
-Don't even worry about it, glad your feeling better:)-

Ivy frowned as it seemed that her efforts to cheer Rivershade up had failed in almost every way. That was hardly fair- Ivy was trying to do something nice, for once, the least Rivershade could do was notice and pretend to be a little happier. She had accepted the offer to hunt together, but she didn't really seem pleased that her apprentice was taking initiative, or that she had the appearances of wanting to get to know Rivershade a bit better.
She seemed rather numb to it all, actually. Ivy didn't like it. It seemed so unlike Rivershade to be like this, from what little Ivy knew. And it seemed like it might have been Ivy's fault- the feeling from the thought left was hollow and empty. Normally she had fun toying with others, but this felt like a step too far. Trying to amend her mistake subtley, though, was not working. Ivy decided on a more straightforward and blunt strategy.
Ivy followed her mentor towards the temporary hunting grounds, nodding before following her instructions. She had practiced- hunting well was something she did in fact actually care about, and she had taken Rivershade's advice from the last training session to heart. Body and tail low, but not touching the ground, and relaxed. "You're sad," she said, as she shifted her weight from paw-to-paw to make sure it was distributed properly. It wasn't a question- she said it confidently, knowing that it was the case. "Why? And how can I make it stop?" Ivy hardly liked asking things that so openly betrayed how she felt about the situation so openly, but her other strategy had failed.

She watched with a sharp eye as the feline showed the hunters crouch she had so skillfully mastered. Rivers ears flicked back slightly as the words from Ivy struck home. She looked down for a moment. Embarrassed and angered with her self that these emotions had gotten the better of her. "Yes, I'm sorry it's so obvious." She said with a huff. "Ivy you didn't do anything to make me sad, you've been a very good student in fact training helps me take my mind off it." She felt guilt as she realized both Ivy had been able to pick up her sad cloud of emotions and that she was trying to fix it... it couldn't be fixed. Signing River shook her head slowly. "I am very grateful to you, but one of my dear kits have passed away. I don't want to burden you with all my ----" she searched for a word. "Emotion." She finished shaking her head as to clear the pain so looked at Ivy. "Now please, I think training you might be the best medicean" she said with a hopeful glow. In truth she kind of felt attached to the feline, she was so much like dear little puddle it was strange but she hoped they could gain a healthy bond over time.
