Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing. My clan had only recently left plains, the ones that belonged to the loners and whatnot, and not one of us in our right minds had a desire to return any time soon. And yet, this led to that, and there I was—standing in the middle of the all-too familiar meadow, the farmhouse visible on the horizon.
I allowed myself the privilege of taking a seat and relaxing for a moment, the sun warming my fur. Although I generally didn't like heat due to my long coat, it was nice every once in a while. And, I was more than thankful for it, as it had melted the layers of ice that had previously been covering my home. I appreciated ice more than heat in every case but this one.
The soft sounds of a cats paws hitting the ground reached my pricked ears, and I searched the area lazily with my eyes. The fact that I could hear those paws meant whoever they belonged to had not smelled me yet—otherwise, I was sure whoever it was would have made an effort to take lighter steps. I waited in tense silence for the feline to appear through the long blades of grass.

Shiro padded through the tall, green grass in the meadows. Newleaf seemed to be coming earlier now, making the prey emerge and warming things up. The black tom's tail flicked behind him, a pleased feeling running through his chest because of the warmth and energy flowing in the land. Perhaps he could hunt...
That thought was quickly abandoned when he picked up the scent of a cat, very very close. How had he no noticed? Perhaps he had been too distracted, which was very unlikely of him. Shiro stopped, looking around the tall grasses before speaking.
"Hello?"

The pawsteps grew closer over the course of a few minutes, though it took quite some time considering when I had first heard them they were much further away. I waited tensely, not quite sure if I should be on the alert or not. I wasn't afraid to fight, in all honesty I was itching for a good fight, but that didn't mean I was going to straight up attack whoever it was the moment he came into my field of vision. At the moment, IceClan was at peace with the loners that lived in the area, and I wasn't about to ruin that.
A voice caught my attention, my head snapping in the direction it had come, upwind from myself. "Hello," I responded, rising to my paws, my body stiff. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about him yet.

The cat revealed himself, looking stiff and uncertain. Shiro was quite the same, having been alone for such a long time. But he wasn't going to attack unless absolutely necessary. The black tom nodded his head in greeting again, gray eyes flicking over the unfamiliar cat.
"Nice day, isn't it?" he asked casually, unsure of how to start a conversation with a clan cat.

I narrowed my eyes at the tom before me, looking him over with my amber gaze. His body mirrored mine—stiff and unsure, borderline hostile. He had a scar, maybe he'd been in some pretty bad fights before?, and he wasn't too bad off in terms of musculature either. In fact, he wasn't.. completely ugly, I had to admit. I wasn't too intimidated, as I was rather large myself, mostly unsure.
"Mm, not really." I said with a shrug, glancing towards the blue sky. Too sunny for my tastes—I couldn't stand being in the heat for too long, even though it was nice every once in a while.

The cat denied Shiro's comment about the weather. How awkward... "I suppose so. You're one of the clan cats, right? Aren't you used to colder weather if I'm not mistaken?" the black cat asked, tilting his head the side with curiosity.
"Oh, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Shiro, a loner in this area. I'm not looking for a fight either, just some conversation." Being alone could be... lonely sometimes.

I couldn't help but let out a low chuckle, but managed to wipe the small smile off my face moments later. I had definitely put the two of us in an awkward situation, and it was difficult to not find the humor in it, at least for me. I nodded in response. "Yeah." I wondered briefly if he was one of the loners that stayed with us in the barn, considering the tension between the two of us, but decided against it. We had resolve most of the argument between IceClan and the loners that had lived in the barn.
Shiro. I didn't recognize the name. "Lynxtuft," I responded, raising my chin. "From IceClan, but I'm sure you already knew that." According to others, my clan had a very... distinct smell. Not that I'd ever noticed. I glanced around at the area with observant eyes. "Pretty boring here, huh?" I asked rather bluntly, still fairly tense, my eyes turning back towards Shiro.
