Sleep was hard, and nightmares didn't help. Berylpaw was having yet another one of his common nightmares and this one wasn't any different. He was walking through the territory before he got to a strange graveyard for the twolegs. Deep from down under the headstone he had wandered over to he could hear a low rumbling. This was usually how his nightmares started, with a rumbling or a growl or some strange noise. In the dream he backed away from the grave and tried to go back into the territory and away from the noise, but it was as if the ground behind him had disappeared. The noise began to grow as his panic did and as the rumbling got louder the ground beneath his paws started to crumble and decay. As the noise started to become unbearable there was a loud crack and he finally began to fall into the grave. All of the sound had suddenly disappeared and it was as if he was deaf now. Then right beside his ear he heard somebody whisper his name.
Berylpaw's eyes flew open. He squeezed his eyes shut and then he rose from his nest and padded out of the den. Beryl had dealt with the nightmares as long as he could remember and at this point he was quite adept at dealing with them on his own. This one seemed different though, as he had actually seen and heard of the graveyard in his dream and it felt a lot more terrifying and realistic than most of his previous dreams.
So his usual technique of going outside and staring at the stars until he felt better wasn't exactly working. He kept doing some deep breathing, but eventually he still felt horrified and he decided he needed to try something else. Slowly Berylpaw's eyes lowered to the exit of the camp and he remembered the graveyard from his dream. He knew where it was, and he felt like maybe he should go there just to see what was happening with it, but at the same time his dream still scared him. Finally Berylpaw took and huge gulp of air and stood up and exited the camp.
Berylpaw hated leaving camp without a warrior as he figured that if anything happened then they would be there to protect him, but now he was on his own sneaking out to go see a grave from his nightmares. He felt dumb and scared and like he should probably just go back to the safe camp where he usually stayed. Still he padded forward and towards the twoleg graveyard from his dream.
As he grew closer and the fog thickened he felt his heart beat faster in his chest and the dream seemed much more prominent in his mind. He stopped when the graves came into sight and for a long time he just sat in silence and watched them. He had thought that being there would be even more terrifying than his dream had been, but the longer he sat in silence without any noise disturbing him the more calm he got. It wasn't at all like his dream and in fact it was just another place in the territory.
Berylpaw sighed and walked over to one of the tombstones to spinsoect it, but as he padded forward he heard a noise from behind him. Beryl yelped and tripped himself as he tried to scramble away from the noise. In his panic and clumsiness Berylpaw managed to smash his head against the tombstone. Still he was up in an instant and backing frantically away from the noise.
As far as Berylpaw knew this was the end of him.

Shiningflames's head whipped up and she looked around. She was in the warriors den. She calmed down a little and made her way out of the den. She left the entire camp and started walking, noticing the other cat. Shiningpaw walked uup behind the other cat. It was late a night, and she was surprised that anyone else was up. Apparently they were scared too, as they bumped their head on a grave. She giggled as she approached and appologized; "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She sat down to show she wasn't going to attack or anything. "You're Berylpaw, right? I tthink I've seen you around."

When Berylpaw finally look at what he thought was going to be some scary spirit or something he instead found a she-cat standing there. He felt the tips of his ears heat up in a blush as he realized that he had just made a fool out of himself. He shrugged when she apologized for scaring him. If was true that he had been kind of terrified by her, but he still didn't want to admit that. He smoothed down his fur to make himself look more calm, despite now being just as nervous as he had been again, "Yeah, I'm Berylpaw. I'm sorry I don't know you what's your name?" He mumbled. He was never that loud, but he hoped she didn't mind. He also felt a little bad that he didn't know who she was.

Shiningflame nodded. "Hey, I'm was scared too. I wasn't expecting another cat out there," she shook her head, which she found a bit odd since she had just nodded, but she ignored it. "I'm Shiningflame." she smiled slightly. "What are you doing out this late?"

Berylpaw gave her a shy little smile as she stated that she had been scared as well. It made him a feel a little less embarresed, but he still felt like he could have been a lot less scared if it was only her. Still he decided to just sit down instead of being on high alert as he had been before. "It's nice to meet you Shiningflame." He meowed. At least she was a warrior, which meant that if something bad showed up she'd know how to fight it off. He really should have thought about that more himself before coming out here. Speaking of coming out here, she was asking him why he was here so late. He was silent for a second thinking up a good excuse before he shrugged. "Trouble sleeping I guess." He stated quietly. It wasn't exactly a lie, but it also wasn't the whole truth. "What about you?"

Shiningflame figured there was more behind the story, but didn't push it. She wouldn't normally either. She was glad that the other cat had sat down, it was a sign that this tom wasn't frightened or on high alert anymore. She would have sat down at that point too, but she had already been sitting. Shiningflame nodded. "It's nice to meet you too Berylpaw." she smiled kindly. "I'm out here for the same reason. I don't commonly have nightmare but when I do..." her voice trailed off and she shivered. Shiningflame looked around at all the night animals you wouln't see in the day ussually. "It's pretty out here at night."
