the nursery was in total silence, a silence both rare and familiar to the kitten. she was invisible, pale fur lost to the light, dark markings lost to the shadows. her eyes were the only visible part of her, and, even then, barely so. they were pale gold, twin suns in the darkness of the nursery. somehow, her paws led her out of her nest, onto solid ground, weaving their way between nests and around tails. those twin suns blinked, taking in the sights of the nursery. as silly as it was, she thought that there wasn't anything more beautiful than a place, any place, in half light, half darkness. each pushed the other out of the way, away, but the light would always win. the sun would always rise. "pretty," she cooed.

Falconkit lay towards the entrance of the nursery, pale legs tucked underneath his body so that he looked like a fluffy dark lump against the mossy floor of the nursery. His eyes were half-lidded, and the sunlight from outside fell softly upon him, warming his fur. His ears perked up when he heard the footsteps, not loud enough to be a queen, he thought, eyes opening a bit wider as he glanced around without moving his head. He angled his ears to the side, finally spotting the other kitten as she spoke. "I assume you're not talking about me," Falconkit mused with an ever-stoic face, quirking a dark ear to the side.

she blinked, once, twice, three times, before her brain caught up with her ears, and she turned towards the voice. "uh - no." she confirmed, though some part of her felt, ridiculously, almost guilty that the answer wasn't 'yes'. "i mean - not that you're not..." she trailed off again, this time searching for some sort of reason she could use to justify the guilt she was sure was plain on her face. yet she couldn't help but smile at her own dumbness. she finally settled on "sorry, did i wake you up?", and smiled a little wider, hoping that a mix of genuine apology and sheepish shame would be enough.

Falconkit felt the corner of his mouth flicker upward and his amber eyes glimmered with amusement. "It's okay," he said nonchalantly, half-tempted to tease her but knowing that he didn't really have the courage to joke around with a cat he'd just met. Besides, he'd probably just come off as rude, it was rather common for the young tom to do so. He shook his head. "I've been up for awhile, enjoying the sunlight 'n all," he gestured with his tail towards the sunny patch of ground he had been dozing in, "there's not much else to do around here really, except for games I guess. But they don't really suit me." He sighed in a bored manner, then tipped his head gently to the side, "what about you? Find anything interesting?"

Ivykit lifted her head, opening her pale green eyes for the first time. She took a moment of squinting to adjust to the lighting, then stumbled to her tiny paws. Off the bat, she was obviously tiny, but not just because she was a few days old- it was more down to the fact that she was basically the runt. Somewhere the genetics had just failed entirely, resulting in a miniscule, dull -eyed kitten. Her features were all relatively dull, besides the stripes taking up a vast minority of her pelt, which were a light gold shade, standing out against her fawn pelt effortlessly. The excited kitten tumbled out of her nest where her mother was resting. Without bothering the sleeping queen, she padded unsteadily towards the speaking kits. "Hi, Im Ivykit, whats your name?" She smiled, her pale eyes twinkling.

her shoulders slumped with only slightly exaggerated relief. "me neither," she confessed with a little smile and a flick of her tail. "no, not really. apart from annoying other kits like you, of course." her mouth quirked up in a tiny smirk. a new, higher-pitched voice not unlike her own grabbed her attention. she spun around, pale gold eyes flickering with recognition as they met pale green ones. the name only confirmed it. "you're my sister!' she celebrated, a little more loudly than she had intended, but really rather quietly. that didn't stop heat from rushing to her face, though. "um... are you?" she became nervous again, blinking far too quickly and thinking far too slowly. "i really should know..." she mumbled, with a rueful giggle. "my mum's frostedsky, and i'm mothkit."

Falconkit quirked his brow in an almost playful manner, his whiskers twitching. Usually he would be annoyed by such a comment, but today he was relaxed and in a good mood, and he figured that the tabby kitten had more in a joking manner. Falconkit's ears perked up, then immediately flattened, when he heard the squeaky voice of the younger kitten. He wasn't very good with kits, particularly the younger ones, even though he happened to be a kitten himself (although he should be having his apprentice ceremony very soon). He didn't really have the patients or energy to keep up with them. Still, he was in a fairly good mood today, so he decided to hold back on any rude comments that would send the little she-kit running. Instead Falconkit let his ears rise and listened to Ivykit and her sister talk, a little jealous. He had plenty of siblings of course, more than he could count, and even more half-siblings. But the problem was that most of the ones in FireClan were already warriors, the ones that weren't being apprentices--and a good chunk of them had disappeared over the moons. He thought that Foxclaw might still be around, but he had never formally met his older brother. "And I'm, um, Falconkit," the tom-kit chimed in, a little awkwardly, "I'm pretty sure we're not related..." Not directly at least.

She recognized her sister once it was mentioned and she let out a short squeak, her tail raising behind her. "Well, its nice to meet both of you." The shekit tried to keep her voice down, out of fear of waking some queen and getting hissed at for being noisy. Her berry pink nose twitched and she inhaled multiple mangled scents, trying desperately to make sense of them all at once and confusing herself a little. With a shiver, she burst into a brief series of coughing and wheezing. "So, how old are you?" she tried to aim the question toward both her sister and the tomkit.

she smiled at him, beginning to relax more in the presence of the older kitten. "falconkit?" mothkit echoed. "hope you're as fast as the bird," she teased. tipping her petite head to one side, she blinked at her sister. "um, nearly four moons," she said, wrinkling her nose as if her age annoyed her. she was at that stage where she wasn't old enough to really do anything, but not young enough that she could get away with anything. "just another two months, right?" she joked. "ah, well. being a kit can't be worse than being an apprentice. no wonder they're so grumpy. all those chores..." with a flick of her tail, she spun around. "promise me you two won't be grumpy when we're apprentices," she grinned, as if they were already friends.

"I wont make any promises," She giggled, tail twitching. The shekit licked her muzzle, tiny whiskers getting swept around by her tongue. "Just in case," Her ears perking a little.

Snow-white fur slipped into the nursery, smooth and well-groomed with time. Dark blue eyes appeared black in the shadows, although with a soft turn of her head, they resembled a more glowing river color. From her jaws, Echokit had a small mouse danging down and occasionally bumping into her flank, just snatched up from the fresh-kill pile.
Regarding the group of three kittens just beside the entrance, Echokit's ears prickled with interest, and she moved to set down her breakfast as her paws after coming closer. "Hi. Can I join in the conversation?" the nearly six-moon she-kit asked in a soft voice.

Falconkit's whiskers twitched, "pffft, birds got nothing on me," he joked back with an amused half-smile, keeping one ear angled towards Ivykit so that she knew he was still paying attention to her. "Just over six moons," he mewed as answer. He would be getting his apprentice ceremony any day now. He wasn't exactly sure how that made him feel, on one paw he'd at least have something to preoccupy his time, and on the other he'd have to get used to a whole new set of denmates. Mothkit's words made him feel a little better about the whole ordeal, even if they were said in a more joking tone. "Sure," Falconkit mused, slipping back into comfort, "not making any promises about warriorhood though." His ears pricked as yet another kitten approached, this one being closer to his age than the others. Falconkit didn't do well in crowds, or with new cats, so he decided to let one of the other kittens answer her, his amber gaze flicking down to his fluffy paws.

mothkit raised her brow in mock-skepticism. "i guess it's not a good idea to make promises you can't keep, hey, ivykit?" she asked, tail twitching playfully. "you sure about that, falconkit? y'know, maybe we should kick you out of fireclan if you can't keep up," she teased, as if she had the authority to do such a thing. she narrowed her eyes, but couldn't help but let a mischeivous smile escape. "you? grumpy? never," she responded, drawing out the last word just to hint at her sarcasm, with a swift smile as a safety measure. "mhm. come back to us with fresh bedding and we'll consider it," she answered, with a small but well-meaning smirk. "i'm mothkit. and you are...?" two yellow eyes rested, interested, on the older kitten.

She turned her attention to the other kitten, sitting with her tail curled over her paws, looking entirely unamused. Lately, socialising had become the least of her concerns, causing her to get a little heated during large group conversations. Especially if she was getting ignored. That usually made her exceptionally angry for some reason.

Echokit was a little put off when two out of three of the kittens didn't reply to her, and it showed through in the gently flattening of her ears and hurt expression. But moments later, the white she-kit forced herself to smile and perk her ears back up. She turned a friendly look to the only one who was talking to her, Mothkit. "It's nice to meet you, Mothkit." she mewed politely. "I'm Echokit."
'I guess it'll take a little work to fit in with everyone.' Echokit mused to herself, a fire of determination appearing seconds after. 'But I'm sure I can succeed!'
