Oceanstar let out an amused purr. "Good thing too. It is the name Cloudclan gave me, they must ae had some meaning behind it." He hadn't been too sure about having is name changed, but so far things had gone smoothly, and he had not forgotten what Starclan had promised. "Oh? I honor your confidence in me." Oceanstar dipped his head with a smile, charmed by her change of mind.
"You've been out training before, haven't you? Or accompanied a patrol?" He asked. His head tipped to the side. "I'm trying a new system of removing assessments from the warrior criteria. You may be ready for your warrior name today."

Swanpaw blinked. "Why did Cloudclan change your name anyway?" She questioned. She knew he wouldn't tell her, but it didn't hurt to try.
Swanpaw nodded hesitantly. "Of course I've been out training. I haven't been on a patrol yet, though." She blinked in surprise at his next words. "Really? But, isn't that kind of the only way to prove they're ready?" She tilted her head slightly to the side.
(I literally have another thread of her training assessment going on right now, so a little too late for her xD)

Oceanstar tipped his head, pleased with Swanpaw's boldness but not altogether sure what he wanted to share. There was no real terrible news to give her of course, it wasn't that he'd been given the name for negative reasons. Still, he didn't want to sound like he was bragging or too ambitious. After a silence he spoke. "Cloudclan told me that I would wash through Fireclan with a tide of change."
Swanpaw brought up another fair point. Oceanstar chuckled, slightly impressed. "No, not necessarily. I find the tests t be quite boring and repetitive. You'll fight your mentor and then go hunting. But you've been fighting your mentor for the entirety of your training, so is it really a test? I'd rather the time be spent in service to your clan, proving yourself in real scenarios." He hoped that answer satisfied her.

Swanpaw blinked slowly, surprised he had actually shared the reason for his change of name. That is, if he was being honest with her. "Lets just hope they didn't mean it in a bad way." She grumbled, mostly speaking to herself. Maybe they meant that he would wash in like the tide, then drag anything in his path down into the water, where they would slowly drown. She shivered at the morbid thought.
Swanpaw wasnt so sure if she agreed. "I guess, but, I feel like the whole fighting your mentor thing after so many fights is kind of the point. Fighting the cat that taught you how to fight must be hard. You both know the opponents next move, and you know exactly how they fight. Overcoming that and having a winner and loser seems like the perfect way to test someone." Maybe she was wrong, but it made sense in her eyes. "It doesn't just test your ability to fight, it tests your intelligence and adaptability." She had rambled a little too much.
