History
Jack was born in Fireclan to the she-cat Eveningwhisper, and an unknown father. During the moon he was born, Fireclan was being plagued by an onslaught of bats and rodents. Curious, and wanting to help his clan, the kit sought out the medicine cat Crowwing for his knowledge on the matter.
A short time later he met Swiftpaw, and somehow the two hit it off in a strange manner. Both equally sarcastic and bull-headed, the two became, friends of a sort. Jack threatened him, Swiftpaw ridiculed him, and all in all it was a good day.
That night another swarm of bats flew into camp. It was then that he ran into Leopardpaw again, a she-cat he had first met when talking with Crowwing. He used the apprentice's body as a shield to hide from the bats.
The next moon, he was given his apprentice ceremony and named Jackalpaw. To his honor and surprise, the deputy Foxtuft became his mentor.
That day, he met the siblings Whitepaw and Thunderpaw. After telling Whitepaw that he had always wanted to see a firefly, the two snuck out and spent the night looking for the bugs together. When they finally found them, they had a great time running around and trying to catch some.
The next day he ran into Spiritpaw while patrolling for bats, and the she-cat allowed him to share a squirrel with him. The peace didn't last long however, and when the bats attacked he met Leopardpaw and Speckpaw, who helped him and Swiftpaw fight off a few of them from camp. It turned into a fun game.
He met Horizonkit, his sister, that same day.
Nearing the end of his apprenticeship he stumbled upon Thymefrost, Swiftpaw's mentor. The two went out hunting together and became fast friends after Thymefrost promised she could teach Jackalpaw how to 'fly'.
A few days later, Jackalpaw was given his warrior ceremony. During this time, he was named Jackalfrost beside Swiftpaw, and his mentor Foxtuft stepped down. It was revealed that he had trained Jack to be his replacement, and so Jackalfrost became the new Fireclan deputy.
He was very nervous as first, completely unsure of what was going to be expected of him. Luckily in the warrior's den he met quite a few older warriors, including Flyingleaf and Treasurehunt that helped get him settled down. A few days later Jackal gave his first ceremony to his friend Thunderpaw, naming his Thunderfox. It was around here that he began feeling like a deputy for the first time.
His first gathering rolled around about a moon later. The Halloween gathering invited all of the clans plus the dead spirits, so Jackal was incredibly excited. He was relieved that neither Woollyfoot nor Lllamafuzz the Darkpool Spirits showed up.
The two Darkpool toms had attacked Fireclan only a few days before, pranking his clanmates. They filled the camp with pumpkins, and set about chasing them. Jackal ordered around his warriors as best as possible, even destroying some of the cursed pumpkins, but was mostly powerful against the dead cats.
Leafbare was a surprisingly peaceful time for Fireclan. The cold chased most of their prey underground, but despite that, most of his clan remained well-fed. As the snows in Iceclan began to melt, an avalanche started, chasing the ice-faring clan out of their home. Jack worried that they would try to seek refuge within his own clan, which couldn't sustain them. He also feared the run-off from the avalanche would flood the border.
Jack turned out to be right. Fireclan flooded shortly after, clearing out nearly a third of his territory near the Iceclan border. It as around this time that he also got a new apprentice, Mothpaw. The young tom unfortunately disappeared soon after and their training never began.
It had been almost a season since Jackalfrost had been named deputy, and so much had happened. He took on his second apprentice Shadowpaw and hoped this new one would stick around. He didn't.
Quite a few moons later Darkstar finally passed away and Jackalfrost rose up to be the new leader. He struggled with accepting his new name and duties, avoiding gaining his nine lives. He took on the apprentices Cherrypaw and Sparkpaw, two individuals he'd met and liked as kits. He also had to deal with his first problems as leader, metering out punishments to Almondfire and Brightpaw, who had been violently fighting in camp. He decided to keep an eye on both of them.
Jackal eventually decided to travel to the moonpool and was surprised to find the Treeclan and Iceclan deputy also there to get their names. It was very concerning. Still, he received his nine lives and was renamed Oceanfrost by Thymefrost, and then Oceanstar for the change he would bring Fireclan.
