hummingkit had always wondered the meaning behind his name. was a humming some obscure animal that all grown-ups magically knew about? a strange plant with medical properties like none medicine cats had ever seen before? those wouldn't be as strange as the idea of having been born humming, like some musically prodigal infant. but then again, foxtwist had to have known what she had been doing when naming her, albeit adopted, child. 

it seemed like no one, grown-up or otherwise, would tell him what his name meant. which left him one option: to do it himself. he didn't know how he would go about figuring out if 'humming' had any other meaning other than, well, humming, so he was going to go with the obvious.
it wasn't as easy as he had thought it would be. he pressed his lips together, emitting a somewhat musical buzz, taking a while to master the art. 
"mmm hmm hmm hmm," he managed, surprised at his own ability.
