A chill wind blew through the nursery, and Lunakit shivered. Her fur stood on end as a howl was heard in the far distance. It was not a great day to be out of the nest, but yet, here she was, teeming with curiosity and looking for adventure. Those two traits seemed to surround what she did daily. She was always on an important expedition.

She looked out upon the camp through pale eyes, assessing every situation. Two cats having a conversation, one eating a piece of prey, it was nothing out of the ordinary. Ordinary, she thought bitterly, the cold had started to seep into her bones. That's something I never want to be called.

Lunakit cheered up, however, when she saw a few warriors pad through the camp entrance and change out with another group of warriors. Patrol swap? she thought, interested. Maybe they spotted something, but probably not.

Sooner or later, she stood and turned to go back to the safety of her warm nest, when she nearly ran into something, or someone. "So sorry!" she squeaked, scrambling backwards.

blackkit sat in the warmest corner of the nursery. surprisingly, it wasn't the corner furthest from the entrance. quite the opposite, it was the one closest to the entrance, at such an angle that the cold never even touched her. too bad she couldn't say the same for the kit that had just run into her. 

"ow," she said flatly, her voice bitter with sarcasm. she wasn't angry, not really; even irritated was a stretch. she cracked a smile, surprised, and, well, a little amused, that the she-kit had apologised. 
"so polite," she mewed, only half-joking.

Lunakit smiled and backed away. "Polite? Hah," she tried to make a joke, but she wasn't the best at that. You could see in her eyes that she was nervous the other kit might suddenly snap at her. She watched the kit with nervous eyes, and returned her smile with a edgy smile of her own.
