FalconpawShiningflame had just come back from hunting when it was sunhigh. Time to start training. "Falconpaw," she called, not bothering to look around for the tounger cat. The day before she had gone to scout out the graveyard and deem it good to fighting. It would help with obstacles as in the real world one wouldn't just fight and never have to worry about trees and bushes. She felt it better to start off this way. She smiled as the apprentice approached her. "We're going to work on fighting today."

Falconpaw had gotten up early, knowing that he would have training that day. He had already eaten breakfast when Shiningflame came to camp, and was ready to head out. He hadn't done much since their last training session. The dusky tabby nodded a greeting to the she-cat. "Okay," he mewed, stretching as he waited for his mentor to lead them to where they were going to train.

Shiningflame gave a curt nod before leading the way to the graveyard, which she had acctually found to calm her down after nightmares. That's how she knew the place, whenever she had a nightmare she would go there. "You ever play warriors as a kit?" she asked her apprentice.

Falconpaw looked around at the graveyard curiously. The place made him rather uneasy, although he knew that two-legs hadn't been there for many seasons he still got the eerie sensation that they still lingered there. It kept him alert. "Not really," the dusky tabby admitted. He had never been social, and didn't bother himself with nursery games when he was kitten.

Shiningflame noticed Falconpaw's unease and gave a small smile. "Its alright. I've been here enough that I know there is no way twolegs will be coming around any time soon." she said before getting into a defensive stance. "Lets work on defense first as that is more important. You can survive a fight without offense if you have good defense. So copy this form as best you can."

Falconpaw looked at his mentor with surprise glimmering in his eyes, not noticing himself how obvious his unease had been. He blinked thankfully at her reassurance, although he was a little embarrassed at how easily his emotions had been read. The dusky tabby watched Shinningflame carefully, copying her stance and adjusting it to his bulky frame. He was big, sturdy tom, so defense would be rather easy for him, or at least he presumed it would be.

Shiningflame nodded and went over Falconpaws stance quickly with her eyes. "Yes, that's excellent." she said. "That form is the best from not being knocked over, though i do suggest dodging too. Now let's work on offensive." she said, considering before picking a simply front strike. She showed an example in the air and the signified for Falconpaw to do the same.

Falconpaw puffed up a bit, hearing that he had done well. The tom listened to his mentor's instructions carefully, watching how she preformed the move. He had seen glimpses of older apprentices training with moves like while he was walking around in camp. He copied the move slowly, both because he was trying to get it exact and he wasn't very good at moving fast.

Shiningflame nodded. "And then pouncing. After that you have your two basic moves and I'm pretty sure you can bite." she said. "So show me a pounce and after I correct it for certain, and I'm sure you'll do good anyway, we'll do a practice fight so I can show you some combinations and see what you come up with on your own."

Falconpaw nodded, remembering how he pounced towards the mouse he had caught the other day. It can't be much different than that, right? he thought. He wiggled his hips a bit, focusing on a point in front of him. Bunching up his muscles, he leapt forward. He overshot his pounce by a tail-length, having underestimated how far his powerful hind legs could push him. His tail lashed with dismay, but he still looked back at his mentor for approval.

Shiningflame nodded. "You'll eventually get a hang of the strength of your jump too. Now let's test what you can make out of those moves." she said, positioning herself in a defensive stance and striking forward with a paw to start the fight.

Falconpaw's eyes widened a smidgen in surprise when Shiningflame struck out at him. Not expecting an attack so soon, her blow landed, and he stepped back a few paces in shock. The tom then shook out his pelt, narrowing his eyes and nodding to show that he was now ready. Falconpaw squared his shoulders, tensing his muscles and watching the older tabby closely. He knew that the she-cat would defiantly be faster than him, so he decided to wait until she moved; planning to let himself be on the defensive rather than offensive.

(We'll just have a few posts of this then move onto the assessment.) Shining nodded, seeing that Falconpaw had decided to be offensive. She then pounded, hoping to land behind her apprentice and strike out. That was a golden example of combos, and she found it caught most acctual enemies off guard.

Falconpaw watched his mentor pounce, eyes narrowing, wondering what she would do. He turned on his heels while she was midair, facing her as she landed. The dusky tabby held himself low to the ground, wondering what his mentor would do next. He recognized the movement of her muscles, they tensed the same way they had before she struck out at him last time! Quickly he backed away, just barley avoiding her paws. He flicked his tail triumphantly, wondering if he should attack now.

"Good. Now you try to land an attack, then we'll be done for the day," she said, her stance becoming defensive rather than offensive.
