RedfootBrightwing was bored and tired. The latter was in every sense of the word, even though she'd grown accustomed to it. She doubted she'd ever become comfortable with the sensation of boredom, feeling that burning need to move. To do something. It plagued her every so often, if she spent a second... Even a fraction of a second idle. It was maddening at times, really.Which, was how she'd found herself groaning softly to herself as she laid on her back in a shady corner of camp. She could spend time reflecting on her life, how her choices affected the twists and turns that had presented themselves... But all that did was make her feel crappier than usual and make it harder to pretend everything was okay. Which was why she was trying to focus on staring at the sky, instead of losing herself in her thoughts. She was almost scared of her thoughts and fears swallowing her whole, never to be seen again. She sighed. Then her eyes shifted slightly to the left, seeing someone standing over her.She blinked slowly."Did you need something?"

Redfoot's biggest pet peeve was laziness, and whenever she saw anyone laying around camp, she of course felt the need to investigate. When she noticed Brightwing, a full grown warrior, laying on her back staring at the sky, she automatically felt annoyed. There were always things to do for the clan! She moved closer to the she-cat, her paws silent. She approached the seemingly lazy she-cat, and stood over her for a moment. She was going to mess with her, poke her, or something, but then Brightwing noticed her.
"What are you doing?" the senior warrior asked, narrowing her silvery eyes. She waited for a response before lecturing the other cat about all the jobs that could be done around camp.

Brightwing sensed that for whatever reason the stranger standing over her wasn't happy. Not like it was full blown anger, perhaps simply disapproval mixed with some light irritation possibly. It could have to do with the fact that she hadn't been doing anything, and the apparent laziness offended her. Great. She seemed to be a master of giving exactly the wrong impressions to every cat she met or spoke to. It was kind of ridiculous how good she was at hiding herself, even when she was trying to be honest.
"... Nothing, really." She admitted. "Trying to think of something I can do, I suppose."

Redfoot relaxed her gaze. At least this cat admitted that she was doing nothing, and hadn't made up some ridiculous excuse to compensate for her laziness. She shrugged. She looked up for a moment, in thought. Redfoot had trained both her apprentices today, gone for a hunt, and cleaned her nest. She really did have nothing to do at this point, maybe Brightwing was in the same position.
"Oh," she said blankly, then flopped down next to Brightwing with a sigh. Redfoot had given up on lecturing for the day, a sudden change in tune. "It's Brightwing, right?"

Brightwing was vaguely surprised that the cat who seemed ready to yell at her suddenly... Didn't. She seemed to relax and... Settle for a more casual attitude. She blinked at the stranger who suddenly sat down next to her, her entire mood seemingly have turned on its head. This was... Weird. Cats who started out hostile, even slightly, usually stayed that way. They didn't change their mind.
"Ah... Yeah. That's me." She cleared her throat awkwardly. "And... You are...?" She asked, sounding somewhat unsure if she was holding the conversation correctly.

Redfoot rolled her eyes. This Clan wasn't that big, and she usually was one of the better known Warriors. She looked over at Brightwing, deciding that she was both lazy and awkward. Whatever though, it wasn't her place to judge. She had already gotten all of her snarking out on her apprentices today.
"Redfoot," she mewed flatly with a raised kitty eyebrow. She pushed her annoyance to the back of her mind, and decided to make conversation. The black senior warrior gazed at Brightwing, studying her. She looked pretty young, and her body language indicated confusion.

Brightwing's ears folded back in response to Redfoot's eye roll. Was she supposed to know who Redfoot was? She... Honestly didn't exactly go out of her way to meet new cats. Maybe she should...? She was almost nervous really to try and talk to new cats. No, scratch that. Cats made her nervous always, even if she was rather good at hiding it.
She wondered if not knowing who Redfoot was made her stupid.
Suddenly she felt like an ant under the microscope. Redfoot's eyes scrutinizing her made her feel... Uncomfortable. "Ah... Should I have known who you are...? Sorry that I didn't." For once her voice wasn't laden with sarcasm. Instead, it conveyed a lot of her social awkwardness and anxiety.
She wondered what was wrong with her. She wasn't usually like this.
Maybe Redfoot had caught her in a weird mood.

Redfoot couldn't help but laugh a little at Brightwing's statement, or apology. Whatever it was. She wasn't really offended, but it was always annoying having to introduce herself to a clan mate. She tried to pay attention to what was going on in FireClan. She attended most ceremonies and Clan meetings, which was always a good way to learn who other cats were.
"How's your day going?" she asked, trying to surpass Brightwing's awkward demeanor. She tried to somewhat brighten the mood, rather than make it even more awkward.

Brightwing's ears pinned to the side of her head and she reddened slightly. She felt embarrassed, she felt like she was being laughed at. A shot of fear ran through her. Was Redfoot going be yet another cat who would rather laugh at her struggles? She realized it was only about three cats in her life, but that feeling was suffocating.
She shrugged uselessly. "Fine, I guess. Just like every other day." She muttered. The mood, or at least Brightwing's mood, was not lightened in the least.

Redfoot watched the younger warrior's shrug, and tilted her head. Other cats could be so confusing. She didn't usually take the time to get to know new friends, everyone she had known previously seemed to be dead or disappeared. She supposed it wouldn't kill her to make friends, but most days, she didn't have the time. The black she-cat looked away from Brightwing, suddenly feeling very awkward. She wasn't quite sure how to respond to the other she-cat's answer.
"Well that's good, I guess," she said slowly, unsure of how to continue the conversation.

Brightwing saw Redfoot's head tilt and she... Didn't know what to make of it. This cat was... Confusing. Her behaviors weren't really... Consistent. Plus, she felt like she was in a weird sort of headspace at the moment. Then the she-cat averted Brightwing's eyes. She coughed awkwardly.
"Do you... Want me to go away now?" She asked awkwardly, since the conversation seemed to be... Well, they seemed to have talked themselves into the awkwardest metaphorical corner. It suddenly reminded Brightwing of why she didn't talk to new cats. It was weird and always led to weird small talk.
