Fallenpaw sat up in a tree, absently watching all the movement of the forest. She liked the trees. When you were up high there was a breeze through your fur and a weightless feeling. It also seemed to help one calm down and think without emotions getting in the way. She snapped to attention as she noticed that one of the blurs of movement was Needlepaw. She really didn't want to talk to him, but she felt it better than ignoring him. He had broken her peaceful mood so there was really nothing else to do. "You!" she spat as she jumped down from the tree, landing in front of the other apprentice. ( Needleclaw, I got bored and decided to make this)

Needlepaw had been on a winning streak, from zero to three friends within a week! It made him feel confident, put some purpose in his pawsteps. And Yellowburr had told him, him of all cats, that there would be a statement. A bold, bloody statement to the open border supporters! They'll never ignore us now, he thought, still elated that Yellowburr had even thought of him. Him. His ears perked up when a cat dropped from a nearby tree, and for a second he was excited, thinking it was Littlepaw, and then--
"Oh, it's you," he spat back, giving the black-and-orange she-cat an unimpressed look. "Practicing being a squirrel, I see?" his tone was snarky, "well, you've already got the brain of one, so it looks like you're halfway there. Good job."

Fallenpaw grinned. "So for all your talk you don't believe in following simple Treeclan ways." she snickered. "I'll keep that in mind next time you give a huge speech." she snarled, though she didn't mean to. She didn't know why she hated the other cat so much, but she was always attentive and ready to move when he was nearby. And when she was protective of anything her mind seemed to go to Littlepaw, her twin sister. Littlepaw was younger by a matter of moments still, but Fallenpaw never catigorized her as her younger sister.

Needlepaw flushed slightly. He was hopeless when it came to climbing trees; he was big, bulky. His body was perfect for fighting, but when it came to the nimble grace needed for swift movement he fumbled. "I can climb any tree as well as the next TreeClan cat!" he spat, eyes narrowed, "but our territory is more than just trees, it's what makes TreeClan so great," he huffed, trying to find some defense, "just because I don't spend all my time with my head in the clouds doesn't mean I don't appreciate the gifts TreeClan blood has given me."

Fallenpaw nodded. "Wow." she said simply, rolling her eyes and waiting for Needlepaw to ask what she had said 'wow' for. Of coarse, she was also hoping she had a reason by the time he did ask.

The dark tabby arched a brow, pulling his lip back in a sneer, "'wow' what?" He mewed, unimpressed by her comeback. I expected her to be at least a little bit creative. The tom mentally snorted. She probably just couldn't think of an actual retort.

Fallenpaw shook her head. "Wow. It is amazing that that is the only comeback stupid enough to describe how rediculusly stupid that was. Treeclan may not be all trees, and no one climbs them all day, but you just said climbing them at all ment your head was up in the clouds. You, the pro full Treeclan, pretty much just referred to our greatest tradition as any outsider would. I bet you can't climb," she chuckled.

Needlepaw rolled his eyes. "I'm just saying that climbing trees isn't TreeClan defining trait," the tabby mewed, not bothering to fight Fallenpaw much on the subject, believing that she had just been reaching for an insult. It hadn't worked. "We're more than just a clan of cats that can climb tress, not that squirrel-brain like you can understand," he sighed in fake exasperation, ears perking up and tail lashing at Fallenpaw's last words, "is that a challenge?"

Fallenpaw nodded. "Well then for once we agree." she responded, finding it a rather odd thing to say to Needlepaw, but it was true. "No, that wasn't a challenge." she clarified. "That's simply saying that a cat saying what you are in that tone ussually has issues climbing themselves. Otherwise they could see why we love it."

"Pffft, it totally was," Needlepaw mewed, tail lashing, "I bet you just don't believe you could really beat me," he smirked, ignoring her last words because of how close to the mark they hit, "you, me, Sky Tree? Whoever can get higher wins," his eyes held a dangerous glint.

Fallenpaw shook her head, blown away that her words had acctually been taken as a challenge. "Sure. Whatever you say." she shrugged. It was amazing how not mad she seemed to be at Needlepaw in person now. Maybe she was just growing past the petty arguements. They were apprentices, not kits. They had more important things to do than climb trees. Says the girl who just sat in a tree half the day... She looked towards the tree and started walking. It wasn't that far away, so she saw no need to run.

Needlepaw puffed up triumphantly, already sizing up sky tree. He had never tried to climb it before, but apprentice's have been climbing on it for moons so he was sure he could do it. He wanted to race ahead, but figured Fallenpaw would call him a cheater if he got on the tree before she did. "Alright, whoever can get higher wins," the dark tabby mewed once they reached the base, "starting...now!" Needlepaw leapt up, easily getting himself onto the lowest branch.

Fallenpaw nodded to the rules. It wasn't really a race then, more of a competition?... Not giving such thoughts time to bother her she quickly made her way up the the lowest branch and made a mental path of where she would go in her mind so she didn't hit a bad branch and fall. After pausing a moment she started leaping from branch to branch and following the path she had planned out.

Needleclaw climbed a slower pace, being big and bulky and not not nimble enough to move around in the tree tops at a fast pace. He glared up at Fallenpaw. The sky trees really tall, he reminded himself, it's not like you don't have time to catch up--plus this isn't even a race. He nodded at his own reassurance and continued to climb. He was able to leap up two branches at a time, thanks to his powerful hind legs, but the time that saved was countered by the time he spent searching for a sturdy enough tree branch that would support his weight.

Fallenpaw watched Needleclaw carefully as she made her way up. Was it even worth acctually trying? The way he made his way up he needed sturdier branches than her. The higher you went the harder those were to come by.
