littlepaw squinted with concentration. utmost focus was needed for this task; it was a difficult one, but nonetheless possibe. at least, the spiky-furred she-cat would make it possible. she wouldn't be surprised if no one had managed it before; she would be the first, the best, the greatest. her name would go down in history forever. they would probably make her warrior right off the bat.
"yes!" she pounced, and her paws landed, forming a perfect square. her prey was squashed flat beneath her paws, and, for a second, she thought that it wasn't edible. then, she prised her paws from it. a satisfied smile spread across her features. she had caught it. the little kit - apprentice - had caught a mouse.
dizzily, she got up, making her way back to camp. making sure everyone was looking, she deposited it on the fresh-kill pile proudly. "see?" she said, to no one in particular. "i'm helpful." her eyes glistened with tears. maybe they were tears of pride, or maybe they were tears from the dust some kit had just kicked up. "hey there."

Bramblekit crouched down, mimicking the pose that Mist had shown her the night before as the cat spoke into her mind, handing out pointers. She didn't understand why she was working on hunting as a kit, but it was something to do. As the imagenary voice checked off her form, she pounced with strong hind legs, kicking up a bunch of dust as she did so, but she did it. She landed on the moss. Her eyes widened as she noticed another cat who had probably felt the after affects of the attempt, and she looked down, blushing. "Sorry," she murmered respectfully to the other cat.

a warm smile made its way onto her face, and littlepaw couldn't help but giggle. it hadn't been all that long since she had been a kit herself, and she was still the size of one, but there was just something about this kit that made her smile. "it's okay," she reassured, feeling very grown-up despite the fact that she stood only a few kitsteps, if that, above the she-kt. "hey, i didn't catch your name. i'm littlepaw."

"Bramblekit." the slightly smaller than normal kit responded. "Its nice to meet you littlepaw." she tilted her head as Dahlia, one of her voices in her head, spoke into her ear, 'ask if she really just caught that beetle.'
It seemed rediculus to Bramble, but she asked anyway. Dahlia had probably just seen some great effort it would pay to reward. "Did you really just catch that beetle?"

puzzled, littlepaw tilted her head quizzically. if bramblekit was right, all she had done was squash a bug, and she certainly didn't want that to be true. "beetle?" she echoed, with a slight frown. she was fairly certain that it had been a mouse, but now she wasn't sure. she bent down, catching the meaty whiff of her prey that still lingered on her paws. "actually, i think it was a mouse," she said, uncertainty showing in her amber eyes. her tail tucked itself around her small frame.

Bramblekit ducked her head in embarrassment. Dahlia had probably only heard the noise of a catch and assumed it a beetle by the fact it was in the camp. "I guess I was wrong then. But that's even better! You caught a real mouse?"

she felt a surge of pride at bramblekit's words. "uh huh! edible and everything," she mewed, a gleam in her amber eyes. "that one, right there." she gestured vaguely with her tail. "it's brown," she added in way of a description. "it was hard, too. want me to show you?" already, the tortoiseshell was getting to her paws, tail flicking out behind her with a sort of finality. "see, you have to get it just right..." she dropped to a crouch, legs splayed out at an awkward angle, and quickly corrected it, paws itching to move beneath her tense frame.

"I've seen other cats practicing before and tried to copy them. Can you correct my form for me?" she asked, knowing the voices in her head could only do so much for her. She got down into what she had, which would be right if she weren't leaning back. Not that she knew that. She thought she had it down well enough.
