Raccoonkit stretched. The grumbling in her belly woke her. With a sigh she started sidestepping around the other kits, making her way to the nursery's entrance. A few snored and hissed at her as she passed them. The sun was just appearing atop the cliffs. Her head peeked out of the nursery. The dawn patrol had already left; the camp was quiet. Seeing no one Raccoonkit made her way to the fresh kill pile. She sniffed first at a vole then moved on to a mouse. Naught smelled appealing to her. Frustrated, she sat down and hissed. The dark brown tabby glared at the fresh kill pile and finally chose a squirrel as big as her. Slowly Raccoonkit drug it over to a secluded spot in the sun. After a few bites she felt full and looked around for someone to share it with. - Coyotekit -

Coyotekit yawned. He crawled out of the nursery, and lazily scanned the camp. He was bored. Really, really bored and he wanted to find something fun he could mess with. His eyes zeroed in on a kitten who was looking around camp, over a barely eaten, huge squirrel. He put on a pleasant smile and walked on over to her. His expressions had never steered him wrong... After his success with Rainkit, he felt confident he could appear likable to another cat.
He plopped down next to the grumpy looking she-cat without warning, and he flashed his smile. "Hey there. I'm Coyotekit."

Raccoonkit blinked when Coyotekit plopped down beside her. "Hello!" she purred in response to his smile. "Coyotekit," she mused. Coyotes were more dangerous than Raccoons. She wondered if he was going to be dangerous like his namesake. She took another bite and mentally chided herself. He is another kit just like me. "I'm Raccoonkit. Do you want to share this squirrel with me? I was so hungry when I left the nursery, but now I can't finish it all on my own." Raccoonkit scooted over so Coyotekit could share her squirrel. "I bit off more than I could chew." Raccoonkit let out a mrrow of laughter at her bad joke.

Coyotekit wondered what this... Raccoonkit thought about his name. She surely thought something, as she had tested out the way that his name sounded in her mouth. Then Raccoonkit made an offer. He blinked. He wondered if this... Sharing thing happened often among friends and such. Then he smiled. "Sure. Let's share it." He took a bite of his own, and flashed a smile. Raccoonkit laughed at her joke, so he chuckled lightly as well. He didn't actually thing it was that funny, but hey. Small sacrifices for the sake of curiosity and all.

Raccoonkit blinked in response to his smile and released a purr. "Thank you for sharing the squirrel with me!" She was genuinely happy to meet someone knew; Coyotekit proved to be nice so far. This, she thought, could be a beginning to friendship. Raccoonkit curiously watched him eat. "Do you like it? I thought it was weird at first, but then I grew to like it." She took a bite. At this point in her Raccoonkit couldn't imagine finding a prey she didn't like. Everything seemed to have its own distinct taste.
Her thoughts drifted off to her apprenticeship. Hunting was something she'd like to try. Raccoonkit thought she would be good at it. Maybe Coyotekit would be a rival for her. Someone to test her skills against. She was pleased at the idea.

Coyotekit flashed another smile. "It's a genuine pleasure." He purred. Seems this was working. Kind of weird how you only needed kind words and smiles to get cats to like you. Aside from strange anomalies like his siblings. From observation, he had deduced he and his siblings were abnormalities. He shrugged. "It's prey. I like prey." He replied simply. Honestly, he didn't have much of an opinion aside from the fact that it didn't make him want to throw up, or regret eating it.

Amber eyes gleamed at Coyotekit. He was nice. Raccoonkit had yet to meet the rest of his litter mates; she expected they would be just as kind as Coyotekit. She wondered who their mother was. There were a few queens in the nursery. Someday Raccoonkit would be in there. Raccoonkit took a bite of prey to release herself from her thoughts. She was far too young to be thinking about offspring.
"Prey is delicious," she said after she swallowed her bite. "I tried rat the other day," Raccoonkit's nose crinkled, "It was good, but not my favorite."
Raccoonkit glanced at Coyotekit, taking in his appearance. He was fawn, amber eyes a few shades lighter than hers, and his face had more angles. Maybe that was because he had short fur. Raccoonkit felt like long fur made her look twice her size.

Coyotekit tilted his head. "Rat, huh?" He wasn't sure what a rat was. "What's a rat?" He asked, outright. Only way to find out was to ask, right?
((I apologize for the terrible post beyond terribleness))

[Answer me honestly, please. Is my writing dull? What do I need to do to improve it?]
Raccoonkit's muscles relaxed. She was glad she wasn't the only one who didn't know what a rat was. "It's a larger mouse thing with a naked tail!" Her eyes widened as she described it. "Isn't that weird?" Raccoonkit intently watched Coyotekit to see his response.

Coyotekit tilted his head. "So... It's just a big mouse?" It didn't seem that odd then. "Why aren't they just called large mice, then?"
((What? No, it's fine. But you might want to ask someone who knows more about the mechanics of writing lol

[Alright. Thanks. ] Raccoonkit's eyes were large with wonder and excitement about sharing her knowledge with another cat. "Basically, yes. Mice don't have bare tails." To Raccoonkit this seemed like sound logic. "They are uglier than mice too." She let out a small mrrow of laughter. The brown tabby ate another bite of squirrel. "We should go look for one in the fresh-kill pile. That way you can see what it looks like."

Coyotekit thought about it for a moment. "Ah. I see." That sounded boring. He took a bite of squirrel as well. He shrugged. "Sure, why not."

Raccoonkit glanced skeptically at him, "Are you sure? Is there something else you would prefer?"

Raccoonkit nodded, happy to be assured. "Okay!" She trotted over to the fresh-kill pile. She paused for a moment to remember what rat smelled like. Her amber eyes lit up and she paced around the pile until she found it.
"Aha!" she announced as she spotted it. Raccoonkit pointed to the rat with her tail. It was a smaller one than she had ate with Beetlekit. Its naked tail hung over a thrush. "Isn't it weird?" It had beady eyes, which made Raccoonkit narrow her eyes at it.
