TreeClan territory had always been rather peaceful -- tall, silent trees and dappled sunlight that gave the forest a sort of still, muted feeling -- and allowed me to think. Thinking was something I was in need of recently, especially since I'd been knocked from my post as an apprentice. Medicine cat apprentice -- who thought I'd be qualified for that position? Fighting was, and always had been, my dream. I wanted to fight for TreeClan, to be rewarded and praised. Call me narcissistic, but wasn't that every kit's dream? Not to be locked away with some leaves, unable to serve your Clan. Everyone loved the medicine cat, and sure. They were great. But once I actually earned the position, rendered unable to protect my Clan or have any sort of relationship, the position didn't seem so great.
It took me a moment to realize I had actually stepped over the FireClan border, I was so lost in thought. I blinked, the foreign scent washing over me, tempted to go further. What would happen if I looked around a little? Saw what FireClan was all about? It wouldn't hurt to take a peek. But, TreeClan didn't need any more trouble than it had gotten recently, so I took a few steps back, hoping no one had seen.

Where did one look for herbs exactly? Most of the plants in Fireclan looked the same to Flickerpaw. She'd learned of a few things, but not enough to pass as any kind of real medicine cat. It would be easier if she had a mentor around to mentor her, but Honeyfur was MIA most of the time, and distant even when he was around. She'd taken to trying to teach herself and so far things had gone...ok. She'd managed to treat Firepaw when she'd come in to see her, and that had been simple enough. Surely finding herbs would be as easy as chewing them up.
Apparently not. The calico had made it all the way to the Treeclan border with no luck. Nothing seemed familiar or even remotely useful. Most of her walking was spent cursing absently to herself, about plants, her mentor, and anything else that annoyed her. Ahead the Treeclan border loomed and Flickerpaw ducked down into the tall grass as she noticed another apprentice step over, then quickly back off again. She snorted with amusement then decided to pad forward. "Real subtle!" She called with a subtle. "Don't worry, I bet no one else saw that massive failure."
