Swanfrost had been out in the territory a lot more than usual lately. She wasn't sure what had drawn her out of camp so often; Maybe it was the simple fact that she was bored. She hadn't had a lot of conversation lately, and all the cats she tolerated seemed to be busy. It didn't matter much, but it was still annoying. She had a lot of things on her mind, after all. Most of them included Brightwing. It seemed everyone she met had a problem with her, including Willowpaw. She wanted to help, she really did.... But the thought of losing a friend over someone else's problem made her think twice about it.
Swanfrost climbed the last stretch of Dandelion Hill, her claws digging into the grass. She was grateful Newleaf was coming just around the corner, it made things a lot easier to do. Like, climbing a huge hill. She sat down at the top, muzzle twisted in thought. She supposed not confronting Brightwing would make her a bad friend to Willowpaw..... But then again, Willowpaw had never asked her to. Would she be mad at her for bringing it up? Swanfrost let out an odd sound- Kind of like a snort, mixed with a hiss, mixed with a growl. Things had never been complicated when she didn't have friends, maybe she just wasn't meant to be around cats who tolerated her. Lost in thought, Swanfrost hadn't even managed to notice the scent of Adaline in the air.

Brightwing was actually sleeping well for once. It was the middle of the day, and she'd kind of... Stolen the moss from Mudpaw's nest. She missed him, even if she'd sort of... Cut off their friendship. Did she really have the right to call it a friendship, when she cut it off so easily...? Despite the guilt that wracked at her, she'd been able to push it aside to hurt Mudpaw. She still thought it was for the best, that he stayed away from her but... All the same... She missed him. So, she took something that smelled like him. Actually, it worked to ward off her nightmares. Thus... She was curled up, holding Mudpaw's nest moss tight, deep in the throes of an actually peaceful dream.
Though, the snort-hiss-growl hybrid roused her from her sleep. She slowly opened her eyes, her flattened ears gently rising. She delicately lifted her head to see a familiar shape. Her eyes shot open, her ears immediately perking into alertness. She rushed to stand up on her paws, kicking the moss to the side, hoping it would blend in with the grass... Maybe...? She wasn't entirely sure if it would work, but it was worth a try. Suddenly, her ears folded back. She cleared her throat roughly, and raised her voice. "Uh, hey! Swanfrost..." She called out, a little louder than her usual level of volume.

Swanfrost jumped, rather high into the air, whirling around in surprise. Her thin pelt was spiked, eyes wide from the shock. She let out a breath of relief as she noticed Brightwing, opening her mouth to speak when another scent caught her attention. She looked around, confused. She could have sworn she smelled Mudpaw, though his scent seemed off for some reason. Almost like it had been smothered with another scent. Looking past Brightwing she scanned the ground, clumps of moss catching her attention. Moss that smelled like Mudpaw... A devilish smirk spread across her face. "Brightwing, great to see you." She purred, circling around her towards the pile of moss. "What might this be? Almost smells like... no, it couldn't be." She tested her, tail swishing in amusement.

Brightwing's ears folded back as she made a rather petulant expression, refusing to meet Swanfrost's eyes. She figured the scent probably was a huge indicator as well, since the scent was rather strong on the moss, and clinging to her pelt a bit as well. "I don't want to talk about it." She almost snapped, looking away. She really didn't. She didn't want to hear what the devon rex had to say about it. Yes, Swanfrost wasn't Aloepaw or Almondfire, but she was expecting some teasing or unkind words to be directed in her direction for this.

Swanfrost quickly realized she was approaching the situation the wrong way. Brightwing wouldn't tell her anything if she was asking questions in a teasing way, so she supposed she would just have to be nice about it for once. "We're friends, aren't we?" She questioned, raising a brow. She moved backwards, sitting down in front of the feline. She didn't wait for a response to her question. "Because friends talk about their problems, and right now-" She made a point of gesturing to the moss. "You're having some kind of problem." She didn't mean that the moss itself was a problem, though she knew about Mudpaw and their issues together, she was mostly referring to Mudpaw himself. She would rather Brightwing tell her then having to say that she knew already.

Brightwing honestly didn't expect the nice approach. She figured it was likely to coax honesty out of her, but... She still didn't want to talk. Even if Swanfrost was trying to be nice. She sighed and looked away. "I still don't want to talk about it." She didn't need to burden anyone else with her problems, besides it made her feel a bit... Uncomfortable, knowing that her head issues were out there in the open, outside her head. Again, she figured she was being ridiculous and paranoid... But she couldn't help but be hyper cautious about what she shared and what not, half expecting cats around her to use it against her. Maybe on the outside she seemed to have fared better than Willowpaw, but maybe she was just as bad.

Swanfrost let out a sigh of irritation, rolling her blue eyes. "I already know." She admitted, slightly sheepish about the whole situation. She waited for a reaction, her paws shuffling lightly on the ground. Would she be mad? She supposed she should have known that would be a risk, after all, it wasn't exactly her business.

Brightwing sighed quietly. "Do you really...?" She asked. She figured Swanfrost probably talked to Mudpaw, if she knew. But, Mudpaw didn't know her rationale. Or, he refused to see it for some strange reason. She had a hard time understanding cats the more she learned of how their minds worked. It was a messy contradiction.

Swanfrost nodded her head, tail too twitching in thought. "So why did you do it?" She asked, rather bluntly. She assumed Brightwing would understand what she meant, considering she was the one to do it.

Brightwing didn't turn to face Swanfrost or anything. "... It's better this way." She insisted quietly. She refused to elaborate more than that. Getting information out of her was like pulling teeth.

Swanfrost wrinkled her nose, like she had tasted something bad. "That's just ridiculous." She snorted, although she didn't really understand what she meant. Was Mudpaw a bad influence? Maybe the other way around? She couldn't be sure.

"I'm not wrong." Brightwing insisted. "You can't fix this, Swanfrost. It's just... A lost cause, okay?" 'I'm a lost cause' went unsaid.

Swanfrost wrinkled her nonexistent eyebrows together, annoyed. "Mudpaw seemed really heartbroken." Although Mudpaw had asked that she didn't mention his name, it didn't really matter now.

Brightwing felt a pang of guilt. She pushed it aside. "He'll get over it." She was well aware she was being more difficult than Swanfrost probably would've liked. She still wasn't budging on this matter.

Swanfrost was growing frustrated. She didn't take Brightwing to be so cruel. She wasn't exactly sure what to say. For once in her life, Swanfrost had to keep her mouth shut on the matter. If she were to be honest, she could potentially ruin their friendship. "I doubt that." She responded, her voice hinting at anger. She knew Brightwing kept in a lot of her emotions, but she could never seem to tell what was real or not with her. She barely knew the feline, after all.
