Sparkpaw sat next to the apprentice's den nervously, his gaze fixed onto his paws as he recalled what had happened with Firepaw. He knew that he needed to do something, he couldn't just sit by as cats hurt his friends... He sighed, then decided that it was about time he talked to one of the cats Firepaw claimed had hurt her. He got up, finding Swanfrost first.
"H-Hey, um," Sparkpaw's voice faltered as he approached the warrior. He took a deep breath, regaining his composure, "my name's Sparkpaw, and, well, I think we need to talk." His voice was much more confident than it had first been, and gestured with his tail towards the camp entrance with a steely look in his eyes.

Swanfrost was stretched out lazily in camp, the bright patch of sunlight heating her thin white pelt. She peaked open one of her eyes as an apprentice approached her, mildly annoyed. "Do I know you?" She questioned, her voice slightly hostile. She didn't move, staying sprawled out on the ground. She had earned this time of relaxation, she had just got back from a hunt. Why was this tom acting so odd anyway? As far as Swanfrost knew, he was a crazy cat who was leading her out of camp to murder her. She huffed at the thought.

Sparkpaw shook his head. "No, but I think you know my friend--Firepaw," he shifted, feeling uneasy under the warrior's gaze, "I... well, I had to take her to the medicine den yesterday--she was so badly wounded that she had collapsed in the middle of the territory and I had to carry her back to camp," he shivered as he remember how her blood had soaked his pelt. The next part he said a quiet voice, not wanting the other cats in camp to overhear, "and, well, she said that she got the injuries when she was fighting you and another warrior--Brightwing. I just want to hear your side of the story," he look back to the camp entrance, "I thought it might be better to talk outside camp--where other cats can't over hear us."

Swanfrost didn't believe him. Not one bit. "The medicine den? Are you kidding me?" She huffed, extremely annoyed. "I barely even touched her!" It was true, she didn't remember hurting her that bad- not even close!
Swanfrost stood, tail lashing in aggravation at the mention of Brightwing. "Brightwing had nothing to do with this, your friend is a dirty liar." She spat, flustered at the accusation about her friend.
Swanfrost padded out of the territory, expecting him to follow her. "And for your information, Firepaw attacked me first. Next time you want to accuse someone, make sure that you're not being fed lies." She knew Firepaw was a fox heart, but she had never thought she would go so far as to falsely accuse her and Brightwing, who had nothing to do with this.

"Well, she ended up there the other day--and I think that was partly her fault as well. She's a proud cat, I'm sure she pushed off going to the medicine den much longer than she should have," he sighed. He wished she had at least told him what had happened, "things probably wouldn't have gotten as bad if she had just gone there in the first place. We had been hunting rabbits and all the exercise must've pulled the wounds open."
Sparkpaw bristled, but held himself back from making any comments. He would bottle up any anger he was feeling towards the she-cat for now, he needed to make sure he knew what had happened before he went and blew up at somebody.
"I'm not accusing you of anything!" he said with a hint of annoyance, following Swanfrost out of camp. He took another breath to control himself, "if I just wanted to accuse you of attacking Firepaw I would've gone straight to Oceanstar. But I've only heard Firepaw's side of the story, and even though she's my best friend she is, like I said before, proud and I know that she might've left out some part of the story if she was ashamed of it. It's why I'm coming to you--it's not because I want to yell at your or anything, I really just want to know what happened," the orange apprentice gave Swanfrost a pleading look, speaking genuinely, "why were you guys fighting?"

Swanfrost rolled her eyes. "Then that's really not my problem, now is it?" She snapped, just as annoyed as he was. Firepaw shouldn't have been so mousebrained, she could have prevented all of this then.
"This is between me and Firepaw, not you me and Firepaw. I doubt you'll believe my side of the story anyways." Swanfrost hissed. If he was Firepaws best friend, then nothing she said would change his mind.
"Fine, not that it's any of your business." She inhaled sharply. The only reason she was willing to tell him about it was because of his threat to tell Oceanstar. "She attacked me over a stupid rabbit." Swanfrost continued walking, keeping we pace brisk. She didn't want to have to look at him, it would just annoy her even more.

"It might be--she's obviously more injured than you are. And she's younger. Cats that aren't involved in this are more likely to believe her," he shrugged as he said that, not knowing a better way to phrase his words, "not everyone's gonna put in the effort to try and see both sides of the story. They'll see an injured apprentice and turn on whoever injured them." He hoped he was making sense.
"Firepaw's my best friend," he narrowed his eyes, "if she's getting into fights, especially with our clanmates, shouldn't it be my job as her friend to help? ...Brightwing, she's your friend, right? Wouldn't you try to help her if she got herself injured? Would you really just leave her to fight her battles on her own?" he knew, of course, that he was budding a little bit into Firepaw's business, but he knew that it was unlikely that his friend would seek for help on her own.
"A rabbit?" Sparkpaw tipped his head to the side, silently urging Swanfrost to elaborate.

"Then maybe you should be a good friend and teach her how to fight like a real warrior." Swanfrost sneered, tail tip twitching. Firepaw had barely gotten any hits on her, the worst one was the scarring bite on her arm.
Swanfrost flattened her ears against her head, knowing he was right. If Brightwing had gotten into a fight with a clanmate, Swanfrost would certainly help. Although, not in the way Sparkpaw was helping now... She would probably attack them in all honesty.
"Yeah. We both grabbed it at the same time, and when I didn't give it back... She got what she was asking for." Swanfrost narrowed her eyes at the memory, huffing.

Sparkpaw was glad he had staticky fur, hoping that Swanfrost couldn't see the way the fur along his spine had risen. He hated hearing someone talk about Firepaw like that. Still, he encouraged himself to stay calm, telling himself that he could do it--he had gotten this far without loosing his temper. He could do this! "Maybe you should learn to be a respectable warrior and not beat up cats that are practically half your age," he couldn't help himself, letting the comment slip past his lips. He quickly slammed his jaw shut, breathing in deeply through his nose to keep himself calm.
"Alright," Sparkpaw nodded at the information, thinking it over. It matched up well enough with Firepaw's story, "alright... okay, so, you're stories are pretty similar--although I guess I expected them to be..." he groaned. This hadn't helped him at all! He still didn't know what he should do. "I think you two should come with us--both you and Brightwing, I mean--I think that you should come with us when we speak to Oceanstar," the orange apprentice glanced warily at Swanfrost, wondering what her reaction would be, "Flickerpaw--she's the one who checked over Firepaw--she said that we have to tell Oceanstar what happened. If we don't do it soon I'm betting that she'll do it herself, but she's only heard Firepaw's version of the story," he dragged his paws a bit in the dirt, "don't get me wrong, I don't believe Firepaw would every lie to me, but, shoot I don't know? It just doesn't seem fair to talk about this with him if you aren't there to defend yourself." His brow furrowed and he looked down at his paws, hoping Firepaw wouldn't be mad at him for this. He was already butting his head in where it didn't truly belong.

"I was an apprentice!" Swanfrost whirrled on him, her temper flaring. "I was a stupid, prideful, hot headed apprentice who made a mistake! It was awhile ago, why is she only bringing this up now!?" She seethed, her ears flattening against her head in distraught. "Do you really expect Oceanstar to believe me either way? Firepaw had the worst injuries, he'll believe her story, not mine." Her voice lowered slightly, swallowing thickly. It didn't matter if it was Firepaws fault or not, either way she would get the blame for it.
At the mention of Brightwing Swanfrost bristled. "Brightwing had nothing to do with this! She wasn't even there, I don't even think we were friends at that point!" She insisted. "I know you won't believe me, but Firepaw lied! Brightwing never touched a hair on her pelt." She was quick to defend her friend, a look of alarm on her face. "This would ruin her." She whispered, mostly to herself. Brightwing already had a mark on her reputation, and there was no way Oceanstar would believe her.

Sparkpaw flinched. "He's never going to believe you if you don't talk to him about it!" the tom defended, ears flattening against his head, "look, I know you don't think I believe you--and you're right, I don't fully believe you, but talking to you makes me think that Firepaw's side of the story is a little skew as well. Oceanstar is a reasonable tom, I'm sure that if you both can calmly tell him what happened--explain how long ago it was--I'm sure that he'll handle it with reason. Besides, I haven't heard Firepaw say anything about wanting you punished," although Sparkpaw knew from the way Firepaw had talked about Swanfrost that she probably wouldn't be opposed to the idea, "she probably wasn't ever going to bring it up if her wounds hadn't re-opened."
Sparkpaw's brow furrowed. "She wasn't?" the apprentice shook his head, "never mind that, I think she should still be there. There's actually something I want to talk to her about as well--it involves another apprentice, Aloepaw..." Aloepaw was also suffering from wounds with a fight from another FireClan apprentice, although he had never told Sparkpaw who had attacked him. Sparkpaw had been talking about him during training--which Brightwing had been attending as well--and the she-cat had acted very strangely when he mentioned Aloepaw. That, paired with some things Firepaw had told him, made him think that Brightwing might've been the cat that attacked Aloepaw.

Swanfrost forced herself to calm down, sitting down in the grass. She had long forgotten about the warmth. "Either way in getting punished, so what's the difference?" She hissed, though she knew he was right. "I'll come with." She swallowed down her fear.
"Jeez you have a thick skull!" She exclaimed, instantly on her paws again. "You can't accuse a cat when you have no solid evidence! Brightwing has done nothing wrong!" She forced herself to stay rooted to the ground. "The only cat Brightwing has ever attacked was Almondfire, and she had already been punished for it. Besides, that happened a long time ago, so let sleeping dogs lie." Why was he trying to dig this all up anyway? Surely Aloepaw's fights weren't his buisness.

(should we wrap up this thread soon?) "I... I don't really know what the difference will be--or if they'll even be a difference," he admitted, "but you'll seem a lot less guilty if you're there with us," he shrugged, sighing in relief when Swanfrost agreed to come with him. "Thanks," he mewed, not really sure whether or not that was the appropriate way to respond, "it's gonna be a few more days before we tell him, I think. Firepaw is stuck in the medicine den right now, she'll probably want to wait until she's more mobil before we talk to Oceanstar. I'll tell you before we go, that way we can approach him together... well, that is unless you guys don't want be to be with you when you actually talk to him, which, I mean, I know I've been butting in a lot but--well, I'd get it if you didn't want me around when you're actually talking to Oceanstar. I'm not gonna pretend like I won't defend her--and she might not want me around either. She's pretty independent, she probably would be offended if I was defending her when she was there to defend herself," the apprentice stopped himself, knowing that he was beginning to ramble.
Sparkpaw jumped away from her, not expecting the outburst. "I'm not accusing her of anything!" he spat back defensively, "not really--all I said was that I wanted to talk to her! I just thought that she might've done something, how am I gonna figure out whether or not she did this thing if I haven't even talked to her?" he pouted, looking more childishly annoyed than angry, "you're the one jumping to accusations," he grumbled.

(Yep yep yep)
Swanfrost shrugged. "I don't think Oceanstar would want you there either." This really wasn't any of his buisness, not at all. "Besides, she can decide if she wants to go to him or not on her own." She doubted that he would voucher for her. She would rather talk to Oceanstar with her dignity in tact.
"Leave things alone and stop poking your nose where it doesn't belong. If Aloepaw wanted to tattle on whoever atttackdd him, he would have. You don't even know if it was his fault or not. Let cats make their own decisions and butt out." She snapped, turning around back towards camp. She was done talking to him.
(You can post one last time, than end of thread.)

Sparkpaw nodded hesitantly. It felt weird to know he wouldn't get to talk to Oceanstar about this after all his involvement, but he understood the reasoning for it. Being there would just crowd Oceanstar and make it harder on all the cats involved.
The fur along Sparkpaw's spine pricked. He opened his mouth to snap back at the warrior, but quickly shut it, teeth clicking against each other. He didn't have the best temper, and while he thought that he had done a rather good job at keeping it in check he could tell that it was starting to wear thin. His tail-tip twitched, watching Swanfrost walk away towards camp for a few seconds before turning to head deeper into the territory. He flexed his claws, deciding to go for a hunt to take out some of his frustration.
