Plumpaw It was time for Hickorykit to leave camp for the first time. It was still early in the morning, but late enough that the dawn patrol had already left. She'd exhausted all possibilities around camp and decided she was ready for a larger adventure. The mottled tabby strode confidently towards the entrance, sure that if she looked comfortable nobody would question her. The kit's tail stuck straight in the air, ears pricked calmly as she walked. Hopefully nobody would dare stop her.

Plumkit spit out the dandelion almost as quickly as she had bitten into it. Note to self, dandelions don't taste nearly as good as they look! she glared at the yellow flower, sitting near the nursery when she spotted her sister. "Hickorykit!" Plum purred, racing over to her sister, not realizing her intentions. "What are you doing all the way over here?" Plumkit didn't usual go near the camp entrance, since warriors often scolded her for getting in their way. She looked around curiously, trying to spot something of interest.

Hickorykit glanced over when she noticed her sister racing towards her. She was fond of Plumkit of course, but she couldn't let anyone get in the way of her goal. "Plumkit," she purred, leaning forward to give her sister's ear a swift lick. "I'm just taking a stroll out of camp. Want to join me?" Maybe if she acted like everything was normal Plumkit would just go along with it and they could have a nice adventure together.

"Woah, are we allowed to do that?" the little kitten asked, dipping her head to the side and flicking her gaze between Hickorykit and the camp entrance. Plumkit had never been out of camp before, it sounded like fun! I think mama told me that we weren't allowed to go outside all by ourselves... her tail curled, wondering why Hickorykit would be leaving camp if they weren't allowed. Maybe she got permission?

Hickorykit hesitated for a second. She really wanted to explore outside camp but she didn't know if she was willing to lie to Plumkit about it. "I'm sure if we just went out for just a few minutes nobody will mind," she ventured, trying to show confidence. Getting in trouble by herself was fine but pulling her sister in made her more reluctant. "You don't have to come if you don't want to though. It could be dangerous."

Plumkit narrowed her eyes in thought, then nodded. "Yeah, we're almost apprentices anyway--I'm sure it'll be fine as long as we stay close to the camp entrance!" she grinned excitedly, peeking past Hickorykit at the entrance of the camp. "No way am I letting you hog all the fun!" the white kitten mewed in a teasing tone.

Hickorykit straightened, eyes brightening when Plumkit actually agreed. She honestly hadn't expected it and was still a touch cautious. Her hesitance wasn't enough to dissuade her thought. "We will!" She promised over her shoulder, already making for the exit. She waved her plumed tail behind her, beckoning Plumkit. "Keep up then slow-poke!" The tabby laughed.
Outside everything was huge. Hickorykit stopped with a gasp. "Even some of the grass is taller than we are," she mused, padding forward to investigate.

Plumkit purred. Adventure! This is so exciting! her tail curled, Pipitkit, Kitekit, and Swiftkit are gonna be so jealous. She grinned a little at the thought, although part of her felt bad for leaving her littermates out of the fun.
Plumkit trotted quickly after her sister, "hey!" she was short and chubby--speed wasn't her strong point, "wait up!" Her tone was more excited than whiny. The she-kit gasped in amazement as she squeezed past her sister and looked at the territory.
"There's just.... so... so much of it!" she mewed, awed. It was like she was staring into the sky! Plumkit turned to her sister, "well, to be fair, most things are taller than I am," she grinned in a dorky sort of way, then returned to breathing in the territory.

Hickorykit already had the long legs of her father and she hadn't realized at first that Plumkit was being left behind. Her gaze drifted back to her sister and she offered an apologetic grimace. "Better keep up Plumkit or you'll get left behind!" She teased, having no such intention of abandoning her sister.
Hickorykit leaned in to give the grass an experimental sniff. "If only we could eat it," she mused. "We'd never go hungry." Out of curiosity she leaned forward and bit off a stalk, though just as quickly spit it out. "Oh yuck! Nope, definitely not." She turned and purred at her sister's joke, flicking her shoulder with her plumed tail. "You'll grow someday Plumkit, don't worry. And if you don't, that's not so bad either."

"Hickorykit!" she wined, pouting although her blue eyes still gleamed in amusement, knowing that her sister was just joking. Or at least hoping that she was.
Plumkit snorted in laughter as her sister actually took a bite of the grass. "You're silly," she giggled, flicking the other kitten playfully with her tail. Although, to be fair, Plumkit had actually taken a bite of a flower once because she thought that they might taste as pretty as they looked. They didn't, of course--she had suffered a fairly similar reaction.
"I don't mind being short! Actually, it's sort of nice knowing that everyone always get to see my best angle!" she grinned, blinking "innocently" up at her sister.

Hickorykit lashed her tail, trying to come up with an excuse that would defend her actions. "I'm curious!" She finally protested. Her nose wrinkled to keep her from laughing along with her sister. Eating grass....Hopefully no news of that made it back to their father or siblings. "Don't eat the grass. It's awful," she recommended through a wince. Finally she was unable to hide her amusement and let out a pealing laugh at her own foolishness.
If Plumkit didn't mind being short then Hickorykit didn't mind either. Short warriors were just as capable as tall ones after all, her logical mind supplied. Generally all of Hickorykit's thoughts came back to how she could apply things to being a warrior. "I like being tall because people will have to look up to me," she countered with a purr, enjoying her devious sister and her jokes. "Though I'd much prefer they do it out of respect and not because I'm a long-legged mutant."

Plumkit laughed again, deciding to reveal her own experience to Hickorykit, "it's okay, one time I ate a dandelion because I thought it would taste pretty," her nose wrinkled up, remembering the bitter flavor, "it didn't." She looked over at the dry grass, grinning, "alright, I'll try to resist the temptation."
"Mmm," Plumkit hummed an agreement, her tone lighthearted, "aww, I don't think your a mutant! Daddy's tall too, I bet you'll be just like him when you grow up," she purred, stepping back and looking her sister over, trying to imagine the other kitten as a full grown warrior. She thought Hickorykit had a mature look to her, maybe it was her dark fur--Plumkit always thought that cats with darker fur looked more mature. Or it could be her eyes.

Hickorykit laughed alongside her sister. She could certainly see her imaginative sister doing such a thing. Of course she'd just done something similar so no harm in that. "And did it?" She asked, because she had to know.
Pumkit's attempt to cheer her made Hickorykit purr. Her sister was too sweet and kind for her own good. Leaning into her sister the dark she-cat gave Plumkit's head a tender ruffle. "I'll be even better," she promised cheekily. "We both will. We'll outshine even the stars." Her cocky statements were made with a lash of her plumed tail, excited and ambitious. Hickorykit then glanced first at the sky then back at the camp entrance. "Maybe we should go back before someone notices us and gets us into trouble."

(sure!) Plumkit scrunched up her muzzle and stuck out her tongue in distaste as she remember the tart flavor of the dandelion."Nuh-uh," the she-kit shook her head in a vigorous "no".
Plumkit ducked her head, grinned sheepishly at Hickorykit's show of affection, the tip of her tail curling with delight. The fluffy kitten's eyes lit up at her sister's words. She straightened her posture with pride, her gaze flicking down to her tufted paws, "even the stars," she whispered under her breath.
The she-kit's head snapped to attention as Hickorykit mentioned going home. "Yeah, they'll probably notice we're gone soon," she pouted, taking a last glance at the territory before turning back to her sister. "Race you back to the camp entrance?" Plumkit smirked, turning on her heels and bounding towards the camp entrance without waiting for a response, "readysetgo!"
