"It is cool." Willowspirit agreed, feeling a small surge of pride for her homeland. Listening to Ashpaw's comparison, though, she couldn't help but feel a little envious of the place he was describing. It sounded like an adventure, and there were surely plenty of good hiding spots in the stone place.
She tilted her head to the side. "It'd be cool to go see a place like that.. But I don't think your clan-mates would like it if you brought me onto their territory."

"Yeah...I doubt yours would be too fond of me looking around there, either," he sighed. FireClan wasn't a place he'd ever like to live, no- but Willowspirit seemed nice. Maybe the cats there were, too. At this point it wouldn't be difficult to be nicer than TreeClan cats. And the graveyard sounded cool.
In an ideal world, he would have liked it if all the clans were able to get along without any issues. It was too bad that the real world had other plans. That still didn't mean that Ashpaw had to follow them. "The grass is always greener on the other side of the border, isn't it?"

"It really is." Willowspirit agree, flicking her ear. She was so bitter and overwhelmed over everything that she would gladly live someone elses life, even if it turned out awful. It felt like nothing could be worse than what Willowspirit had been through.
Willowspirit glanced up at the sky to see that it was moon-high. They should both be in their nests, but Willowspirit didn't really feel like leaving. "I wish I could climb a real tree." She sighed longingly.

[[ im going to fight my short posts i promise im trying ]]"Well, I'd offer to take you to one, but I don't think that would work out well for either of us," Ashpaw chuckled, somewhat bitterly. Then he shook his head- he'd come out here to keep his mind off the sad stuff, and it seemed he'd only dragged another cat into his bad mood.
"What's- is his name Oceanstar? What's he like? I haven't been to a gethering since he became leader."

"Yeah, Oceanstar. He used to be Jackalfrost, but CloudClan apparently changed his name at the ceremony.." Willowspirit nodded. At the time of her birth, Darkstar had been gone for quite some time, so she only ever heard stories about the former tyrant.
She tilted her head. "What about you guys? I heard that.. Arrowstar is your leader now?"

"That's...a very different name. Weird." Ashpaw wondered why they would do that- change a cat's name. He liked his name- it'd been given to him by his mother, and his warrior name would be one that Arrowstar thought he was worthy of. He thought names were something to be proud of, symbolic of both a cat's lineage and what made them a warrior.
"Yeah, he is," Ashpaw nodded. "I think he's doing alright! A few cats in the clan are...less than happy about him being leader, but I don't think where a cat is or isn't from really matters in the longrun. He's looking out for the clan as best he can- what else can you ask of a leader?"

"There are always going to be cats who don't agree with how things are being done." Willowspirit said with a scoff. Her own litter-mates were constantly disrespecting Oceanstar, especially Aloepaw. Knowing that her nasty brother would be the last of them to become a warrior sent a twinge of satisfaction down Willowspirit's spine.
Willowspirit didn't know much about TreeClan's past, and she didn't think it would hurt all too much if she asked. "Is Arrowstar not a clan-born cat?" She was fairly sure that Oceanstar was FireClan born, or if he wasn't, nobody really minded.

Ashpaw was quiet for a moment after Willowshine's question, wondering whether it would be apropriate for him to answer. In the end, he sort of already had. Confirming it wouldn't hurt. It wasn't really a secret, anyway. "Nope," Ashpaw shrugged. "He's been around for quite a while though. Spiderstar wouldn't have made him deputy if he didn't trust him." It occurred to him in that moment that Spiderstar hadn't been clan-born, either, though. No doubt Yellowburr would bring that up at one point.
"There's this one cat who's trying to make a big stink about it," Ashpaw continued with a wrinkle of his nose, against his better judgement. He was careful not to mention that the cat had also started a civil war within the clan. "As though it matters. He's just trying to pick a fight." And succeeding. That wasn't something Ashpaw felt comfortable with admitting. "Some cats are a kind of dumb, though, I guess. It happens."

Willowspirit wondered if it would make any difference if Oceanstar weren't clan-born. Probably not, since merit was more important than anything, and Oceanstar certainly seemed to have good character. Then there were cats like Aloepaw and Almondfire, who were pure FireClan-blood and the least qualified cats in existence to run a clan.
"If he keeps making trouble, Arrowstar should do something about it. Punish him, somehow." Willowspirit said with a shrug. If it were bad enough for Ashpaw to bring it up, the discourse in TreeClan must be more serious than he was letting on. "Or maybe that cat's just all bark and no bite, and he's no threat."
