The atmosphere was dreadful that night. There was no rain, but dry and sinister thunder, and the winds, ferocious and vengeful, rammed like warships against the rotating planet. Nimbus clouds veiled the speckled sky, impenetrable by the waves of starlight that travelled so courageously across the vast vacuum of space.
To a lightly built, ten pound mammal such as a cat (who in this case was a white female named Icy,) the storm was threatening and she should probably seek shelter. But everything in the universe was relative. This storm was incomparable to other spectacles the cosmos had to offer. Venus, for example, and her bright supervolcanoes. Or Jupiter and his Great Red Spot, a hurricane three times the size of planet Earth. Yet this storm, from Icy's humble perspective, was something to fear.
She took shelter in the caves. They were dark and stagnant and cold, alive with the chorused bickering of bats. They were spooky. Her paw pads silenced her steps and she drifted, like a soundless ghost, around. She knew how children would throw stones at the bats, and how they never could hit one because of their ultrasonic radar. It was impossible to catch a bat.
What if it wasn't? The white cat lowered herself to the stony ground, her fine muscles poised to spring as she observed the fluttering creatures in their airborne dance. Then her ears began to twitch, and she turned her head to peer into the darkness. Something, out there, had caused her to abruptly abandon her launch, and she began to wonder if she truly was alone.

Sky had sensed the storm long before it came. She knew most of the spots in Deathclan would be taken for shelter, so she moved further out. After all, she had been distancing herself from the Deathclanners. She needed to stay on her own for awhile, like a sleepover with herself. Keeping her survival skills sharp was the reason she was still alive with such a great weakness. Practice made perfect, and Sky practiced every single chance that she got.
Sky was already in the caves by the time the wind picked up, and soon enough bone trembling thunder had taken place in the sky. She wondered if there was lightning too. Sky had been in the caves fairly often, so she knew it well. Her nose began twitching, ears swivelling. There was another cat, seemingly taking shelter from the storm. Sky lurked in the darkness, slowly creeping closer. She knew this scent, though there was no name to go along with it. The only thing she got from this was an even more mutilitated face. Not that Sky cared, it's not like she could see the damage anyways. Besides, it was a good scaring tactic.
The bats had never frightened her. As long as she left them alone, they didn't do much. The almost stranger seemed to be close to them, though without eyes, Sky had no idea what she was up to. Her paw steps were light, though she was so focused on the other cat she didn't notice her side brushing against the wall until it was too late. The noise went almost unheard, though she had a feeling the other cat had already heard her. She didn't move from the darkness, though she did speak up. Her voice was almost drowned out by the thunder. "Don't be scared." She purred in a rather sinister way, changing her voice so the feline wouldn't recognize it. Her scent wouldn't give her away either, as Sky had coated herself in mud. She always seemed to over prepare for company.

Oh. It was a cat. Or, an animal who had learned how to speak cat. She would only be interested in the latter. She had some knowledge of canine body language, but for the most part was monolingual and it could be restricting at times.
The voice was eerie as it echoed across the musty air. Icy cocked her head to listen, her claws clacking against the ground metallically as she paced back and forth in front of the unseen creature.
"Don't flatter yourself. Clearly, you have exerted some effort into hiding from me. But you're willing to give away your location by speaking. You must be confident in the dark! I don't suppose you might be used to it?"
Her softly lined ears danced atop her head as she thought. Icy knew three blind cats, one of whom she had fought not along ago. The strange voice matched none of them.
"You'll have a fine time washing that out of your fur" she pointed out, referring to whatever substance had been used to mask the stranger's scent.

Sky grinned. She certainly wouldn't underestimate the feline, she was obviously highly intelligent. Although, by the way her voice echoed, so long as Sky didn't make any other give aways she doubted she would be found unless she wanted to be.
"You're a smart little kitty, aren't you?" She purred despite the fact she knew this cat was older than her, the malice dripping off her tongue. She kept up with the odd voice, which was a few octaves lower than her natural one. She even included the slighted hint of a lisp to make things more reaslitic. "I don't hide because I'm scared." She tsked, silently sitting down, though keeping her guard up encase she did somehow manage to find her. "I like to play with my food." She listened to it echo around the cave, bouncing off the walls and ringing in her ears. She lived the eeriness that the storm provided for her.
Sky tilted her head softly to the side, analyzing the situation. She had fought this cat before, and knew that she could inflict some serious damage on her. She decided against turning things into a fight- she had already gotten a few good scars from Loki. "I beleive that's the least of my worries right now."
