Marigoldkit woke to sunshine warming her face. She turned her face to the shadows of the nursery. A gust of wind blew the loose dirt of the floor up past the kit's nose. Marigoldkit felt a tickle and reeled as she sneezed. Unlucky for her, her sneezes were powerful. Quite a few groans rose up from the other kits. Marigoldkit quickly apologized and exited the nursery.
Sunlight filled the camp. Warriors were sharing tongues, eating or talking. Apprentices were practicing their battle moves. They looked frightful to the little kit so she made sure to stray. Dens were found through the camp. Her still kit-blue eyes paying attention to detail. Some had brambles, sticks, leaves woven throughout. She made up her mind to explore them all and started walking towards the warrior's den. She was near the entrance when the dawn patrol came back. The older cats told her to be on her way. Marigoldkit ran towards the nursery.
A butterfly flew past her as she neared the entrance, causing the cream she-kit to skid to a halt. Her eyes widened in curiosity. This was an organism she had not seen before. Intrigued, Marigoldkit followed the butterfly. It was beautiful: mostly orange with black stripes, and white dots around the edges of its wings.
Unbeknownst to her, she was nearing the camp's exit.

Emberkit was rather bored. She tossed and turned in her nest, trying desperately to hold on to the last bit of sleepiness she had. She had just begun to doze again when suddenly a loud sneeze interrupted her. She hissed, lifting her head up to glare at the kitten.
Emberkit watched her leave, deciding she may as well do the same thing. She wasn't going to sleep now anyways. She stretched her legs, shaking each paw afterwards and sitting down lazily in front of the nursery. She was mostly lost in her own thought, trying to think of something to do. She didn't exactly have any friends, so she was often lonely. She had just recently reached the age where she yearned for company.
She watched curiously as the kit who had rudely awoken her in the nursery followed after a butterfly. She seemed to be so focused on the insect, she didn't even realize she was about to head straight out of camp. A part of Emberkit wanted to simply watch and see what would happen, but she knew it wasn't really the right thing to do. "Hey mousebrain!" She squeaked, dashing towards her and blocking off her path. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." She warned, looking around to make sure no warriors had seen what could have happened.

Marigoldkit froze, her kit-blue eyes wide. Suddenly back in reality from Emberkit's words the cream she-kit realized where she was. Marigoldkit's gaze found Emberkit's. The other kit was a little bit bigger and the intensity of the Emberkit's gaze made Marigoldkit shrink. Her usually straight tail drooped. The creamy kit opened her mouth to reply, but thought better of it. Instead, she backed up from Emberkit.
"Thank you for stopping me," Marigoldkit paused to call Emberkit mousebrain in her thoughts. Marigoldkit thought the other kit rude. Although Marigoldkit was glad that Emberkit stopped her, she was upset at being called a name. Marigoldkit's eyes narrowed at Emberkit. "What's your name?" Marigoldkit looked at Emberkit, thinking impulsively she almost added mouse-brain onto that question. Marigoldkit tried to not retaliate. She would wait for the other kit to apologize.

Emberkit watched in confusion as the smaller kit shrunk away from her, head cocking slightly to the side, though she didn't bring it up. "Yeah, no problem." She shrugged, sitting down, wrapping her tail around her paws.
"I'm Emberkit." She puffed out her chest with pride, yellow eyes gleaming. Her eyes had just recently changed. "What about you?" She questioned, a childish grin on her face. She was excited to be meeting someone finally. She hadn't really talked to any of the other kits. It wasn't that she was antisocial, she just never had the opportunity to do so.

Marigoldkit watched Emberkit sit. The other kit's relaxation made Marigoldkit feel more at ease. For now, Marigoldkit decided that was apology enough. She wanted to make friends not enemies. The cream kit felt bad for judging Emberkit. Marigoldkit noticed her yellow eyes. Emberkit was older by her than a moon or two, she guessed. Marigoldkit purred at Emberkit's excitement. The other kit was interesting.
"I'm Marigoldkit," the cream she-kit said as she sat down. Marigoldkit kit copied Emberkit by placing her tail over her front paws. Her ears twitched in excitement. Another kit from the nursery was finally talking to her. Marigoldkit didn't know how to keep up the conversation, but she hoped that Emberkit would ask her another question. Meanwhile Marigoldkit glanced around the camp.

"Marigold? What's that?" She questioned, slowly sliding down to her stomach. She stretched out with an over exaggerated yawn, baring her large teeth. Maybe it was a kind of flower? That's the only thing that made sense to her.
Emberkit jumped back to her paws rather suddenly, tail lashing playfully. "We should play something!" She grinned widely. She had never had the chance to play anything with others.

Marigoldkit was surprised by Emberkit's question. "A marigold is a flower," Marigoldkit narrowed her eyes at Emberkit, "What's an ember?" Marigoldkit tried to think if she had heard of an ember before, but naught came to mind. Kit-blue eyes winded at the larger kit's teeth. The cream she-kit wondered if her teeth would ever be that big.
A purr escaped from Marigoldkit. "Sure! What game do you want to play? Hide and seek? Toss something around? We could race each other!" Marigoldkit's tail went straight in the air. Emberkit was bigger than her. Longer legs, but Marigoldkit was slender. Possibly, better suited for running.

Emberkit beamed once she realized her thought had been corrected. "Ha! Thought so." She boasted slightly. When the question was returned to her, she grinned. "It's the hot stuff left behind from a fire." She jumped to her paws, standing on her hind legs and throwing her paws out with a swooshing noise, trying to imitate a fire.
Emberkit dropped back on her paws, grinning. "Why dot we playfight?" She crouched down, wiggling her back legs, as if ready to pounce, though she waited for consent.

[I'm sorry for the delayed reply; I had a wonderful reply written when I lost it.]
The cream she-kit tilted her head to the side. Embers were what was left when a fire ended and they were hot. What did those even look like? Kit-blue eyes glanced over the older kit. Tortoiseshells were predominately black with splotches of red and sometimes white. Marigoldkit thought that must've been what a dying fire looked like though she had never seen one. The younger kit's eyes widened as Emberkit acted out a fire. Marigoldkit tilted her head to the other side before erupting in laughter.
"Play fight?" Marigoldkit squeaked. This was another thing she had never done before. She didn't even know the first thing about it. Marigoldkit's muscles instinctively tensed. Emberkit looked like she was about to pounce. Marigoldkit felt she could dodge or take the attack to Emberkit. Not knowing to do, Marigoldkit waited for Emberkit to make the first move. "Sure!"

Emberkit grinned when the kit agreed. She had never exactly been in a play fight, though she had watched many take place before, and she thought she could be stronger than Marigoldkit. She was older than her, after all. Though, she was probably fast too. Emberkit didn't give this much thought, instead leaping straight into 'battle'.
Emberkit lunged forward without warning, her paws outstretched. She had kept them sheathed. It was a natural instinct for her to be careful not to hurt her own clanmates. Well, at least not physically. If Marigoldkit wasn't able to dodge and Emberkit was successful, she would have barrelled into her chest, and clung to the back of her neck with her paws to hold her still so she could hopefully end up on top.
(All good!)

Marigoldkit's eyes widened and her tail fluffed out in surprise. Emberkit had leaped toward her, paws outstretched. Fear froze the smaller kit and Emberkit barreled into her chest. Marigoldkit was suddenly underneath the older kit with her belly up. Emberkit was holding her down, but Marigoldkit used her size to her advantage. With enough wriggling Marigoldkit would be able to break free from Emberkit's hold and manage to run far enough away to launch her own attack.
This was the craziest thing that Marigoldkit had ever done. She didn't know if she could really attack another cat, but this was her clan-mate. Emberkit would certainly grow up to be a great fighter. Marigoldkit wasn't sure who she would be when she would grow up. The cream she-kit hoped she would make a great warrior.

Emberkit was happily surprised when her attack was successful, letting out a loud 'huzza!'. She felt the smaller kit begin to wriggle, scrambling to keep her down. She was competitive, and wouldn't let her get away so easy. Emberkit suddenly dropped onto her, pressing her full weight into Marigoldkit. She avoided flattening her head, that way she could still breath.
Marigoldkit would either have to tap out and admit defeat, or wiggle some more and try to get away. Emberkit hoped she was heavy enough to keep her down. She did eat a lot. Emberkit found an odd thrill in the fight. She liked doing it more than she would admit.

Marigoldkit squeaked in response to Emberkit's huzzah. The older kit didn't have to put a lot of effort into keeping Marigoldkit down. The creamy she-kit blinked in defeat. Maybe she wasn't cut out to be a fighter after all. Marigoldkit grunted as she felt Emberkit's weight on her. She was thankful that Emberkit had left her head clear and sent a prayer to CloudClan.
Moments seemed to pass as Marigoldkit tried to wriggle out of Emberkit's hold. Emberkit seemed to be enjoying this. Suddenly, Marigoldkit thought to relax. Kit-blue eyes glanced up at Emberkit as if to submit. Her ears twitched. Little did Emberkit know that Marigoldkit was going to strike the moment that the older kit would also relax. The cream she-kit hoped that her plan would work. It was her only chance since Emberkit was older and stronger than her.

Emberkit watched her struggle with a satisfied grin, her ears flicking in confusion as suddenly Marigoldkit stopped fighting. "Aww c'mon, giving up already?" Emberkit questioned with a huff. It wasn't exactly taunting, but it wasn't really nice either. Emberkit had no idea of the kits intentions, so she stepped off of her with ease, letting her muscles relax.
(Sorry it's short)
