thor hid behind a pitiful bush as he waited for blue to return.
he had thought of her a number of times since their last encounter. he'd wonder what questions she'd ask and how he'd answer them. now he was, unprepared; and he hated that feeling.
he looked to the sky, the bright full moon now directly above him, illuminating the area. he snorted, wondering how dumb he was to think blue would come back. maybe she just sent a patrol after him instead.
he wanted to leave before he was caught by their territory, but something inside him told him to wait.
Just a little while longer.

Rainpaw was trying to teach herself how to swim, having heard that RockClan's new home would be near a large stretch of water, and she wanted a head-start against her clan-mates. It wasn't as if she was being selfish, she just wanted to be prepared.
After splashing around in the cool water that separated RockClan from IceClan for a bit, Rainpaw decided it was time to head home. She washed herself thoroughly until her pelt was only slightly damp, and then began to head home.
It was then that Rainpaw looked towards the sky and she realized what night it was.
Feeling flustered and rude, the young apprentice scrambled back towards the border where she'd met the strange tom, her sleek pelt becoming ruffled and dirty.
"Hello?" Rainpaw paced her side of the scent-marker, feeling rather ridiculous. "Grayfang..?"

thor spotted a very familiar looking she-cat pacing the border, leaves braided into her ruffled pelt. he smiled, as he stepped from the bush and ran towards her, stopping before he'd get too close to the border.
"hey; blue." he grinned wider. at the mention of his old name, he shook it off. grayfang was good, at least for now. maybe that would be something to tell her another night. he watched the flustered cat, and he couldn't stop himself from poking into her business. "what were you doing?" thor asked, resisting the urge to help her clean his pelt.
that'd be weird retard. shut up brain.
he sat, his smile fading away into a curious look. "didn't think you'd come." he meowed, a question in his eyes.

"I just got a little caught up." Rainpaw mumbled, beginning to clean her pelt for the second time that night. At least she was no longer wet, since the long run had dried her coat, but this still wasn't a favorable situation. She could practically feel Grayfang's amusement radiating off of him.
Rainpaw had been thinking about not coming, but in her spur of the moment decision, there hadn't really been much of a question. "I have to make sure that you're not going to invade RockClan territory again." She was being somewhat playful, though Rainpaw would drop everything to defend her territory if Grayfang did cross over.

((DISCLAKMER** YOU DONT HAVE TO READ BETWEEN ASTERISKS))
thor cleared his throat, watching as she cleaned her pelt. he felt slightly hurt at her comment, although he couldn't blame her. he surely wouldn't trust a mysterious loner that set up mandatory-ish meetings in the middle of the night.
"the moon," he began, his accent becoming thicker and more noticeable as he hung around her. "is my favorite part of the sky."
"my mother used to tell me stories of the moon. she'd tell me of the relationship it has with the sun." his mind suddenly flashed back to a cold evening, thor laying with his siblings, eagerly listening to featherbreeze.
******
'mama, please tell us your stories,' wilowkit wined.
'now my dears, it's time to sleep. you're father will be upset.'
'no one cares if father gets mad.' ravenkit yelled in response, his siblings confirming that with a meow. featherbreeze chucked, gently licking behind ravenkits ear.
'now, which story shall it be?'
'the one about the moon and the sun!' graykit yelled out. his mother nodded, a twinkle her eyes.
'Long ago, the gods created very life itself. the air we breathe, the water we drink, the mice we eat, and the warmth we bathe in. There were two guards in particular who were very stubborn, always fighting each other and trying to be greater then the other. We'll call them day and night.
"Day was an intense god, the one who was always favored over Night by the other gods. He brought joy and laughter and courage; while Night brought sadness and darkness.
"It wasn't Nights fault. She was just perceived that way. And that way she became.
"One night, she killed four entire clans. One because they were fiery with passion, like Day. Another because they reminded her of what she though was most beautiful but could not have; Earth. The other because it showed her something she could not breathe; air. And the last because it showed her what she could not stand, water.
"She was to be punished for her crimes, and live in eternal darkness. She was to see the world without it seeing her. She was to be the darkness that everyone feared, for eternity.
"But Day loved her, and decided to take the punishment with her. Night refused, for how could he love someone broken as her? How could he love someone who insisted none of it?
"And they received the punishment nonetheless. They were renamed Sun and Moon.
"The Sun, awake when the word was awake, cursing the Sun for his fire.
"And the Moon, awake when the world was sleep, because she was despised so much.
"Forever alone, they were. Only catching a glimpse of each other when the one rose to the sky, an the other sunk to the sea.
"And sometimes that's what love is, my kittens. It can be a dire situation, but at least you're facing it with the one you love."
******
thor snapped back to reality, suddenly too aware of blue's gaze. "sacrifice." he said simply. it was what he was supposed to do, to be for his people. but just like night, he always let things slip away from him. precious things.
he took a quick breath, looking back towards blue. a shrug of his shoulders. he at a loss of words.

Rainpaw wished she could see into his head and know what memories were playing back in his thoughts, and what story he was thinking about. She'd never heard the one he was describing, Rainpaw knew, because she was only ever taught the history of her warrior ancestors in CloudClan. A change of pace would be nice, and Rainpaw almost asked to hear more details, only to decide that this seemed too personal for some reason. Whatever memories Grayfang had attached to the moon and it's stories weren't a topic for casual conversation.
"I understand sacrifice." The apprentice said carefully, her gaze distant for a few moments before she turned her attention back to the loner. One day, Rainpaw would have her chance to prove herself for her clan, and she was determined to take the most noble path to get there. "In RockClan, the moon is.. Well, we don't have any stories about it, but the full moon is still sacred. It's a night of peace for all four clans, where we share tongues with one another."

of course these cats would have different beliefs, not everyone believed the same things. it was a matter of understanding what their beliefs were, even if you don't believe them yourself. maybe he'll learn more about it, someday.
Thor remembered the last question she had wanted to ask their last encounter before the sun had risen.
"what was it you asked last time, about my home?"

"Oh, right. I was wondering," Rainpaw didn't think she was being intrusive, and it wasn't as if she had any ability to force him to talk about his home. "what was your home, before you became a loner?"
Rainpaw held a steady expression, hoping that she wasn't making any wild assumptions.

thor stared at her for a long while, before speaking, trying to choose his words carefully.
"I come from a place called SunClan." he had debated whether saying the true name, but decided it was best to use a name she'd better understand.
"It's very far from here, it would take way more than a few moons to get there."

Rainpaw nodded slowly, her mind swarming. She wondered what kind of clan Grayfang came from where they didn't hold gathering on the full moon. Every clan had to have warrior ancestors, but perhaps this SunClan referred to their CloudClan by a different name, or they appeared in a different form.
"Why did you leave?" Rainpaw asked, her dark eyes glimmering with interest. "And why did you come here?" While Rainpaw saw the natural beauty of her home land, she didn't think that other cats would understand.

"I left because-," thor paused. of didn't matter much that he'd tell her, or at least he thought. he was almost sure she wouldn't tell anyone, and he was getting sick of making up lies. "it burned, technically. My home." a partial truth. it was pretty much destroyed, but it was rebuilt. he just wasn't sure he was welcomed there anymore, any of his family really. maybe one day he'd find out.
"I tracked my brother here." he answered, lowering his voice slightly. "my younger brother."

Rainpaw couldn't imagine what it would feel like to go through something like that, losing her clan and all the of her clan-mates. Despite not being particularly close to any of her litter-mates, she would still go to the ends of the earth to any remaining links she had to her beloved home.
"I see," Rainpaw mewed quietly, trying to be as respectful as possible without showing too much pity. "Now that you've found your brother, what are you going to do?"

"I don't know." He answered truthfully, shrugging his shoulders. "I just got here, maybe I'll learn more about the place."
He suddenly gave her a wicked grin, "maybe I'll learn more about you. Tell me about yourself, Blue."

Rainpaw shuffled her paws, looking a bit uncomfortable. Telling an outsider about herself felt like an act of disloyalty, and Rainpaw didn't see any reasons why she should get friendly with him.
"There's not much to know." She shrugged evenly. "I'm just some RockClan apprentice."

"Yeah, and I'm just some random loner who got you to see him a second time." He countered, giving her a pointed look.
The sun was rising, but thor wished he had more time to spend with her, even if she didn't really like him. "We all have stories to tell, we all have something unique about us."
"Maybe one day I'll learn yours." He mewed, standing up and yawning. "See you around, Blue."
He turned and went his way, back towards his cave.
