Intelligent, bright blue eyes shone from within the confinements of the nursery. They were wide and ferociously focused on one little spot outside the den. What was outside of the kits' home, do you ask? A little spider that was just sitting there. Seemingly still alive, yet it remained utterly still. After a few minutes, there was a small cream, gray, and brown tabby kitten that had come out of the front of the nursery in a long leap.
"Hyahhh!" little paws batted out at the spider playfully, swiping it upwards and batting it further away. Wriggling his behind, the young cat's tail swished behind him violently, blue eyes narrowed ferociously. "Gotcha!" Aspenkit crowed as he pinned it down once more, before repeating his actions.

Like most kits, the soft gray she-cat was cursed to eternal boredom until the day she'd be made an apprentice. Dovekit tried to find things in camp to entertain herself, but the mountains tugged at her heart, calling for her to explore them. Eventually, she gave in and began searching for a way out of camp that wasn't directly through the entrance, since it wasn't as if she could just walk out.
Carefully exploring the edges of camp, Dovekit was rudely interrupted by some other kit playing with a spider who'd managed to chase it into her area. "Oh, Aspenkit." She breathed out at the sight of her brother, only for her voice to take on a more mischievous tone. "Do you wanna do something more fun than playing with spiders?"

Blinking upwards at the familiar voice of his slightly older sister, Aspenkit gave the she-kit a rather curious look. Why did she say his name? Then she asked him if he'd rather do something more fun, instead of playing with the spider he was currently torturing. Aspenkit blinked cornflower blue eyes warily, one ear flattening on his skull and an uncertain look passing his features.
His sister was rather mischievous, and would rather take risks. This was opposed to his more cautious, happy-go-lucky personality. Blinking unsurely up at her, he flicked a glance to other cats around the camp. However, he was also pretty gullible. Despite preferring to stay safe, if someone convinced him enough he would go do it. "Are you sure, Dovekit?" he answered glibly, swiping his tongue around his cream muzzle.

Dovekit was perhaps too confident in herself, believing that if she really, really wanted to leave camp, then other cats would understand and she wouldn't get in trouble. After all, certainly no one else had ever felt as adventurous as she did that very moment, for no one could resist the urge to explore that Dovekit was experiencing.
She brushed off Aspenkit's worries, looking up at her younger brother with a reassuring smile. "Of course, Aspen, I wouldn't lie to you." Dovekit asked, her eyes glimmering brightly. The fluffy kit wasn't trying to mislead or manipulate her brother, she genuinely believed that what she was attempting was fine.

Once more, uncertainty flickered across his mind like a raging tempest. He worried about Dovekit a lot, with her needless recklessness and mischievous personality. Swallowing uncomfortably, Aspenkit licked at his maw and flicked his gaze upwards to meet Dovekit's own kitten blue eyes.
"Uh, d-do believe it could get us in trouble?" he inquired cautiously, unable to let the question pass through his vocal chords. "I-I mean, I would be more than happy to." Aspenkit was a rather insecure kit, which caused him to kind of cling to his slightly older sister and those who were friendly to him.

Dovekit rolled her eyes playfully, pressing against her litter-mate. "We aren't gonna get in trouble!" She insisted, having the childlike belief that every cat would do whatever was most convenient for her, and that she was the sole center of everyone's worlds. "Do you really think that Fallenstar would punish us?"
She shivered with excitement, remembered that the clan leader was her father. Dovekit still had yet to learn that being Fallenstar's daughter didn't make her an exception to the rules. "Besides," Dovekit continued soothing her little brother's worries. "don't you get bored in camp, with nothing to do all day?"

Aspenkit considered his sister wearily, swishing his mottled tail behind him with a worried air. "We might," he insisted, splaying his forelegs lightly. "Fallenstar might come down harder on us because we're his kits, Dovekit." He glanced at the ground with another nervous glance, another flood of uncertainty flowing through him.
Then he flattened his ears at Dovekit's next words, giving the gray she-cat a reluctant look of interest. "W-well, yes. I do get bored." he admitted. Wait. What was Dovekit trying to suggest? Narrowing his kitten-ish blue eyes at Dovekit suspiciously, he swiped his tongue around his maw and cocked his head in curiosity. "What are you suggesting?" he mewed in a slightly worried way.

Dovekit frowned. She didn't see how Fallenstar even could punish kits, since they were all already confined to camp all day and night, and nothing could feel worse than boredom. "You're such a worrywart, Aspenkit! Nothing bad is gonna happen, I swear." The soft-furred kit continued to insist, looking up at her brother with an imploring gaze.
Blinking, Dovekit realized that she hadn't actually told Aspenkit about her plan, and for a heartbeat she wondered if he could be trusted. "I want to sneak out of camp." She blurted impulsively, deciding that if anyone deserved to know, it would be her kin. "Just for a little bit.. Don't you wanna explore?"

Flinching at Dovekit's words, the tabby tom glanced down at the ground bashfully and shamefully. Why did he feel so submissive to his more dominant older sister? "I- okay." he murmured in a slightly small voice. Then he glanced up at her in shock. Sneak out of the camp?! That was just asking for trouble!
He swallowed back his protests, unwilling to get into an argument with his sister. However, he couldn't resist his itch of curiosity about the outside world. Glancing at Dovekit with reproachful golden eyes, Aspenkit heaved a reluctant sigh. "Alright, Dovekit. However, once there is the first sign of trouble, we go back! If one of us even gets the slightest bit hurt, we go back! If one of us gets caught, we aren't allowed to complain!" he insisted, quite stubbornly. "That's all I'm asking, Dovekit."

Dovekit didn't like how afraid Aspenkit was of her. She wasn't trying to boss him around or put him into an uncomfortable situation, she was letting him in on what could be an unforgettable adventure, and soon enough Aspenkit would understand. "It'll be fun. We're going to be apprentices one day anyways, we might as well get a head start." She insisted, hoping that her words would get through to her little brother.
"Okay, fine. If anything bad happens, we'll go back to camp and won't try it again." Dovekit agreed, flooded with relief as Aspenkit agreed to go with her. It wouldn't be any fun alone, and there weren't really any other cats she could ask. "We still have to find a way out of camp." She pointed out, her eyes sparking with excitement.
