Bramblekit was staring into space as she sat in her nest, twitching with restlessness. Her tail flicked and swished as her urge to move and talk bottled up inside, like a volcano filling with pressure before... BOOM. But luckily the boom hadn't come yet. Bramblekit gazed around, the urge to talk to someone very very strong. Oh, please please pleeeaaase will someone talk to me.... She stared at the other kittens, willing them to notice her and let her talk.
You see, her subconscious had forced her to promise not to go and leap on cats, saying whatever was on her mind, but wait until they spoke to her.
And she wasn't going to break her promise anytime soon if she could help it, she wasn't losing this one to herself.

Asterkit yawned, waking up from a short dream about life from the point of view of a bug. It wasn't very interesting; she just crawled around until being stamped on by a paw. Maybe it was a sign that she was taking her bug interest a tad too seriously. She yawned again. Dragging herself out of her post-dream musings, she looked around the nursery, eyes eventually landing on a pale brown kitten.
This kit seemed to be doing the same thing she was: observing. Except, this cat was mainly targeting the kits . Asterkit stared right back at her, almost studying the kit. They were twitchy, but why? Curious, Asterkit stumbled over to the kit, before plopping down in front of them. Still holding eye-contact. "Hi. Are you looking for someone?"

Bramblekit grinned a little. She felt her paws bounce under her in excitement. "Nope, I'm just bored!" She meowed, gold eyes shining. She was about to explode and not stop talk, but she reigned it in as much as she could. "What's your name?" She asked with a wide smile. "I;m Bramblekit!"

Asterkit nodded, giving her own grin. It was slightly too wide, flashing off one too many teeth, eyes still wide as saucer plates. Asterkit didn't really notice. Instead, she quietly meowed, "So... you're not looking for someone. Just, something to do? Is that why you're so jittery?" To anyone else, it would've sounded insulting. To the blue-grey she cat, it just seemed obvious to ask.
"Oh, my name's Asterkit." She said with a lick to her paw.

Bramblekit laughed, nodding. "Yep, i am always jittery. Sorry about that." She added, realising she might be weirding out this other kit. "Nice to meet you Asterkit."

Asterkit stared at her for a few seconds, creating an awkward silence. Then she giggled. "What are you apologizing for? A lot of kits are like that." She pointed towards the nursery, then continued. "If they tease you about it, you could throw a dead bug at them like I do." She flashed toothy another grin, before closing it into a small smile.
"Anyway... nice to meet you too, Bramblekit."

Bramblekit smiled in relief at Asterkit's words. She was so nice! "Aw, thanks." Then Asterkit said something about bugs, and Bramblekit pulled a face in disgust. "EW!" She meowed, her fur fluffed up, but her eyes teasing. She laughed. "Bugs are so Icky!" She giggled.

Asterkit nodded mutely at Bramblekit's 'thanks'; it seemed to Asterkit that being energetic and 'jittery' was common in a Nursery. Was she wrong about that?
She didn't have a lot of time to think about that, though, when Bramblekit suddenly yowled out. Asterkit jumped. Her fur bristled, before Bramblekit's words registered and she let out a laugh. "What's so bad about bugs? They're a little icky, but very interesting," She said in fake-offense. "Do you wanna see one?"

Bramblekit hesitated. "Okay..." The word was very slow. She made another face, but apologized at the expression on Asterkit's face. She hadn't meant to offend. "Show me the bugs!" She said, smiling sort of.

Asterkit's face dropped to a neutral mask at Bramblekit's hesitation. She felt slight anxiety build up at the thought of this new kit suddenly screaming or running away in disgust; she wasn't truly offended by Bramblekit's statements before, taking it as a joke but. But, maybe this new kit would just run off.
"Yeah, okay. Let's go then. Prepare to be amazed!" She gave a toothy grin and padded over to her make-shift nest, lifting up one of the corners with her paw. Underneath it laid two slightly squished bugs; a red one with black dots and another one with a lot of legs.

Bramblekit followed Asterkit, unsure of what awaited her. When Asterkit revealed the two bugs, Brablekit laughed. What had she been afraid of? She moved to look closer at the small creatures, awed. How could something so small be living here? How did Asterkit find them? How many more were there? The questions swirled around as she giggled, lifting a paw to touch them.

Asterkit maintained her grin. She resisted the urge to sigh in relief at Bramblekit's giggle (she wasn't going to stop collecting bugs just because a few kits blew her off, it was just. A nice change of pace.), just followed Bramblekit's gaze and quietly meowed, "See? Most of them are harmless. Most of them."
Keeping her paw in position, her smile became more genuine as she watched Bramblekit practically bursting with curiosity. However, before Asterkit could warn her new companion about their sort-of-alive state, the red and black bug suddenly jumped. "Oh! There it goes," She said, amused.

Bramblekit drew her paw back with a squeal as one of the bugs jumped, and she jumped in surprise. A second later she was across the other side of the den, fur fluffed out and eyes shining with laughter. "What kind of bugs are they?" She asked, padding back to Asterkit's side. "Where did you find them?" Then she remembered that Asterkit had said MOST of them weren't dangerous. "Wait... What did you mean by most of them aren't dangerous? Are these ones dangerous?"

Asterkit heartily laughed at Bramblekit's reaction, even though her head caught up with her mouth and reminded her that, actually, that bug was meant to be dead. Ah well. This was a much more amusing outcome. At Bramblekit's questions, Asterkit cocked her head to her side, trying to jog her memory.
"I'm not sure what they're called. One of them had a fascinating name, a 'lay-dee-buhg' Anyway, I found them in the Nursery. They like to crawl in through the holes, 'specially when it's dark and quiet, and uh. Usually, I just. Squash them." Asterkit let that statement linger for a second. Would a creepy grin make this situation better or worse?
Asterkit shook her head at Bramblekit's suddenly worried questions. "Nope! I can try find dangerous ones for you if you want, though."

Bramblekit let out a oooh. She did like the name of the lay-dee-buhg or whatever it was. She grinned. "You squish them? Even the dangerous ones? What if they eat you? Can you find a dangerous one?" She fired her questions, intrigued.
