If there was one thing Fadingnight missed about her former clan of tree huggers it was the shade. Out here in the open one was exposed to the elements 24/7 which included the giant angry ball of fire in the sky. Yes, there was a slight breeze but it was generally never a cold breeze; unless of course you were close to the Iceclan border. Only then was this season truly manageable here in Fireclan.
Currently the space-gray tabby had found herself attempting to soak up whatever shade was available, a feline had to shift themselves ever so often as the sun floated across the sky and shifted the shadows. Not that the briar bush she was under was really doing her any good. In fact, it was about to do just about the opposite when one of her clan members decided to push in next to her and "share" this shade.
"Hey man," Fadingnight mustered as her throat crackled with dryness, "is there really room for two under here?"

((Hey Fadingg! Nice to see you back! Take my no-muse post ;-;
Cloudskip had been suffering through this heat, due to her overly long fur. It was one of those times in the year where Cloudskip wondered what would happen if she ditched for Treeclan's shade. Hopefully Leaf-fall and Leaf-bare could come early this year, the deputy lived much better in those seasons.
The she-cat walked quickly around to find shade, her fluffy tail flicking madly. When she finally did, she sighed to see another cat who already occupied the shade. Still, Cloudskip was stubborn for at least some escape from the Sun and she tried to scoot herself in the shade, trying to take up as little space as possible.
Cloudskip almost jumped at the she-cat's voice, wondering how long it had been since the warrior had had water. "Um... You okay?" She murmured, scooting a bit from the warrior to give her more room.

( Ayyyee, happy to be back <3 and yes, my muse is quite dead as well - no worries )
Cloudskip, Fadingnight remembered her as the clan's deputy; although at the moment her memory was ailing her as to how long it had been since the white feline had obtained the position. Not that her memory had ever been the greatest in the first place. "Erm," The tabby began, clearing her throat, "yeah I'm fine, just haven't mustered the energy to leave the camp just yet."
It would probably be a good idea to get out sooner than later though, even if the midday hunting patrols were rather pointless. The heat while out in the open was unbearable; at least Cloudskip was as white as her name portrayed.
"Say, my memory is failing me, but how long has it been since you've been named deputy?" She inquired, her curiosity peaking.

Cloudskip nodded at the grey she-cat, knowing that they had spoken before. It had just been a while, like a long while. Fadingnight, was it..? The white she-cat nodded and looked up at the sky. "Take as long as you need to rest." She murmured. Warriors did need energy, and Cloudskip didn't want a tired warrior sleeping in the middle of the territory in the hot Sun.
The deputy should probably send out some patrols soon, but would anyone really volunteer in this heat? Maybe it would be better if they hunted in the evening and at night? Yeah, the clan had enough food until then...
At Fadingnight's question, it took a moment or two for the she-cat to respond. "Around the end of Leaf-bare, and by the start of New-leaf. I'm surprised somebody else wasn't chosen for deputy." She sighed, looking back at it. Cloudskip was a mess back then. She was even more of a mess now with Silverwhisker... Gone. The deputy shook her head and sighed. "How have you been? I haven't seen you around in a while."

It was curiously generous that Cloudskip didn't seem at all bothered by the fact Fadingnight wasn't spending her time doing something more productive for the clan. But from the vibes she was picking up off the white she-cat she guessed she felt the same about the heat.
It didn't take too long for her to respond to Fading's question, and indeed it hadn't been long at all since she was appointed as deputy. Not to mention she didn't seem sure that she should've been chosen at all, she was the daughter of Thistlefang anyway. Fadingnight wondered how he was doing, maybe she'd visit the border at some point. "I'm sure you'll make a great leader," She mewed supportively, adding a warm glance. Jeez, she really had softened up in her older age. "Thistlefang must've been ecstatic when you were appointed."
Fadingnight herself doubted any of her offspring would ever be chosen for such positions, especially if they inherited her carefree attitude. It was a blessing and a curse.

Cloudskip glanced to the side quickly as Fadingnight mentioned Thistlefang. The other warrior knew about that... Alright. The she-cat hadn't seen the Treeclan warrior in what had felt like forever. Last time Cloudskip had seen her father was just after she had her first litter, from what she could remember off the top of her head. Maybe she should stop by the border sometime soon... But would he even be there?
The deputy shook her head and glanced at Fadingnight. The warrior didn't answer her question, but she wouldn't press it. "Thanks, I appreciate that." She chuckled, looking up at the sky. "Yeah, I guess he would be." She added, flicking her tail. She hesitated before asking another question. "You came from Treeclan, right? How was it like there?"

"Oh and I've been fine thanks for asking," She responded, (I can't believe I missed that haha) adding a small smile and feeling a bit embarassed she had just completely skipped the question. Maybe she was becoming a bit slow in her older age as well.
Fadingnight tried to remember back to the first time she had learned about Cloudskip; if she remembered correctly Thistlefang hadn't been to fond of her knowing, then again the tom had never been too fond of anything. Which had never bothered Fadingnight, she was never one for emotions anyways.
The white deputy then mentioned Fading's old life in Treeclan where she had been born and raised. It was quiet there, but she had personally felt as if it was time for a fresh start. Her mental illness that had all but seemed to fade as she aged had left some stains on her relationships there, and she had needed to get away. Although part of her had also done it to be closer with her father, but Stormfrost had never really noticed her as much as his other kits. Pieces of her wanted them to be close but some things just weren't meant to be.
"Treeclan was nice," She shrugged a bit, and not feeling particularly open to explaining why she had left. "For me I guess I just needed new scenery, but it was always peaceful for the most part. Most of us got along and if I'm remembering correctly there was always an overabundance of kits when I was around."

((Crap I'm late-
Cloudskip laughed a bit at Fadingnight, her tail flicking. Treeclan seemed nice. Heck, she had even considered ditching Fireclan for them when she was an apprentice. Those weren't her brightest days. Still, she was glad that she stayed. If she didn't, she wouldn't have met Speckflame and couldn't live with Silverwhisker and Foxbite, as well as her step-father Fangshadow.
A small chill ran through her as she remembered her mother. It seemed like a snake's fangs bit into her spine. Cloudskip shook off the feeling, and laughed a little. "Treeclan seems nice. The shade seems lovely in this weather." She sighed, looking up at the sky. "There was a small problem with a few young warriors a couple moons back, but other than that, Fireclan is peaceful. We have a bunch of kits, but some kinda just..." The white deputy trailed off, sighing heavily. "Some disappear or just flat-out die. My first litter suffered from that, and a couple other's kits."

So the deputy had once had a litter, interesting. Fadingnight had also had kits once, not that she was a huge fan of the mewling little fur-balls. But at the same time those little fur-balls would grow up and hopefully be great additions to the clan. Which also meant Fadingnight wouldn't have to do as much work, she enjoyed that idea.
She nodded in agreement and added her own side to the story. "I too once had kits, some made it to apprenticeship. But disappeared after that. A lot didn't make it through kit-hood, but one did earn her warrior name." It was then that she realized she hadn't seen her kin in ages, hadn't talked in even longer. Sunsetshadow was still a member of Treeclan... maybe she would visit her one day, someday.
"But I'm sorry about your litter, life is quite rough out here I guess."

Cloudskip stood silently for a bit, somewhat judging herself. Her first litter was dead and Sparkkit and Echopaw barely know her, what kind of mother was she? "Thank you, and I'm sorry about your litter. But hey, at least one of them got to be a warrior." She smiled, wondering what the child of Fadingnight and whoever would be like.
Thinking of it, did Fadingnight have a mate back in Treeclan? It felt kind of strange if she did, if they were still together at the time. Cloudskip hesitantly decided to ask. "Um, was there a father for the litter?" Her fluffy tail swayed around, as the she-cat couldn't really stand still. She had to be moving somehow to be comfortable.

Was there a father of her litter... Fadingnight felt her pelt growing hot and a small uneasy smile began to cross her jaw. "Erm well, ya see. I've never been one much for feelings... but erm," Pausing for a minute she swallowed the bile that was rising her in throat and continued, "Well there were two... uh fathers."
She had left her mate around the same time as she had left Treeclan, she didn't really want to leave any strings still attached from the place. And since she had never been one for feelings anyways there really wasn't much she was leaving behind. "Galelight I think his name is now, it used to be Sunheart. He was my previous mate but I ended it around the time I left Treeclan." She explained, "and uh, the other one. Wasn't my mate but erm, you... you uh should know him. You're related..."

Cloudskip nodded slightly as she listened to Fadingnight. Two fathers, huh? She didn't want to question why, so she stayed silent. It wasn't until the older warrior mentioned who the two were that made the deputy speak.
"Galelight?.. Interesting name, to say the least...- What?" She stopped her sentence, glancing all around her. Fadingnight had kits with Thistlefang? A part of her wanted to deny it, that her father was only commited to Silverwhisker, but she knew better and ignored the thought. "... I have half siblings?" Was all that she could say, her gaze finally resting on her paws. But knowing how things were with her family, they were probably missing or dead.

The deputy seemed almost hurt at the thought of having half-siblings, but Fadingnight had always known Thistlefang as this emotionless tom-cat; maybe there had been more to the warrior then she had thought. Fadingnight herself had never known Silverwhisker, but there always seemed to be something or someone she didn't know.
"Yeah, last time I checked they were apprentices. But I haven't really heard from anyone in Treeclan since the move." Maybe Thistlefang had just lost himself after Silverwhisker.
"Anyways." She mewed, rolling over onto her back now. "What's new in the deputy's life."

Cloudskip started to calm herself, her fluffy white fur lying down flat. She thought it over. Yeah, Fadingnight wouldn't really know how they were, she had been in Fireclan for a bit from what she remembered. What if they were warriors? Maybe she'd get to meet them! But then again, she stopped herself from getting her hopes up.
"Deputy life..? Eh, kinda boring. Oceanstar kinda vanished, so I have to take care of ceremonies. Most of my family and friends have kinda poofed, so I can't talk to anyone besides Fangshadow. I swear, when Foxbite and Speckflame get back, I oughta..." She muttered to herself, her fur rising up again. Cloudskip took a deep breath and went silent, just staring at her paws.

Maybe Cloudskip was more similar to Fadingnight than she had thought. The white deputy was definitely more family and clan oriented, but they both seemed to have broken or lost so many ties with the ones they cared about that it was becoming ridiculous.
"Well hey," Fadingnight mewed, her amber gaze now softening as the conversation began to mellow, "if you ever need a shoulder to lean on I'm usually around." She finished, adding a tiny bit of humor to the end. The silver warrior had never been one for emotions, but she knew the feeling of being alone.
