Dustpaw nodded, taking note of what Treasurehunt said about staying downwind, and that they have Hawks that they can't bring down alone and were located at the hill. He'd make sure to keep an eye on the sky when passing through there.
When his mentor grinned at him and meowed about surprising her with his next catch, Dustpaw hesitated before returning it. He would try hard to impress her. He opened his jaws to scent the air for other prey, and a whiff of rabbit hit his jaws. His eyes shined as he dropped into a crouch and began to locate where the fluffy creature was...

This session was was going fine. Even if Dustpaw misses this next catch, they had to at least bring some prey back to camp.
As she seen him getting into his hunting stance, it looks like he scented something. There Treasurehunt caught the smell of a vole feet away in the grass. She went off to capture it. Without another glance at the apprentice, she went into a hunters crouch, exactly what she just taught Duspaw. She was happy he caught on so easily. The prey was already started to move. Acting fast, she jumped on it with claws unsheathed, biting the neck. Letting a few moments pass by, she picked it up, doing so by thanking for it's life being given silently. Now it was time for Dustpaw to see how his hunt went.

Dustpaw was aware of Treasurhunt catching a mouse behind him, but he didn't turn or make a noise. In stead, he crept forward a few paces and scented the air again.
His prey was close, he thought. With ears pricked forwards he crept towards the creature - rabbit - and even made sure he was downwind like Treasurehunt had told him. He controlled his breathing noise and footfalls, as not to vibrate the earth, and the suddenly blasted into action.
He darted forwards and unsheathed his claws, ears flat as the rabbit bolted from under him. He growled and decided to pursue it, and so took off after it on his strong limbs, thinking he might be able to catch it because Fireclan cats were quick.
For a split second a flash of hope went though him as he thought he could catch this and make Treasurehunt proud. He then wondered if she'd help him, cause he didn't know if it would make him seem like a bad hunter to need assistance but he also wanted to catch this because it was pretty big and would feed multiple cats.

So what he smelled was a rabbit. Dustpaw stealth was well. And for a few moments she saw Dustpaw have it in his grasp. Treasurehunt impressed, held her breath in silence. But the strength of that rabbit was too strong for him to kill it in time. Watching it get loose from under him darting off into the distance.. There the apprentice continued to chase it.
Dustpaw's catch was going to be gone from the looks off it as it kept running with that speed, haeading for that bush.
Putting the mouse down, she decided to assist. She started to run going the same direction and made it past Dustpaw, but instead of catching it, she did not letting it go in an direction but the opposite it was running from, toying, rearing the live prey back to Dustpaw and not the bush. Hoped Dustpaw was read for the turn of events.

(whoops! didn't realise this had been replied too... so sorry)
Dustpaw stretched his legs and paws out far as they would go, pushing his speed to its limits as he tried so hard to impress his mentor, until Treasurehunt raced past him. He was actually happy though, through the pang on his ego, as he knew he couldn't catch it alone. So thank god for Treasurehunt! He carefully watched her as she toyed with it, grinning, before she made it change direction so it began to run right at him. He crouched low as it approached, making himself small, until it was only a few taillengths away and he sprang at it, flailing his paws and tail as he tried his best to hold it down... he didn't think he could, it was strong.

((ye im alive, good to know you are as well ^^))
Dustpaw panted a thanks to Treasurehunt as she held down the rabbit for him, allowing his to dispatch it swiftly. It was the cleanest catch, but he stood back when he was done, turning his gaze up to his mentor, questioning. Had he done ok? She definitely had, and he was proud of his amazing mentor. "Great catch." He meowed to her, acknowledging the fact she had done most of the work!

"No no!! It's all yours! Your the one who took it down!" She said returning the compliment "Your biggest catch yet!" Gleaming at Dustpaw and the rabbit. Lifting her paw off the dead prey and going to get the dead mice,"It would of been gone without your quick tackle."
Tackle. Next would be battle training.
