Dust's Training 1

[Treasurehunt]

Sunhigh. Treasaurehunt kept her word. Morning it was and the time to get her apprentice. "Dustpaw, ready?" She waited at his den for him to come out,"Morning, go eat if you must it will be along day and we can get started."

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw was ready for his training. With a smile he exited the den and met his mentor, nodding. "Morning. And Yep, I'm ready." He meowed, tail high. "Already eaten, too." He added, grinning.

He was excited, and couldn't wait to go out.

[Treasurehunt]

"Good good!" She lead the way out to the clan territory. "I guess we'll start with ours for now. Clan territory I mean. It's expanded a little within the last few moons due to unexpected weather disasters and clan arrangement. Almost all the clans had their change in their territory like ours. ." Up ahead now they were in what she always liked, the grassy plain fields,"This here is where we can partake in your fighting skills/hunting. It's spacey and such but because of this we have developed speed. Each clan has their own talent. The clans we share borders with is Rockclan and Iceclan. And we have very few trees."

She looked back at Dustpaw with a small grin then back," It don't stop there though. Over here, we have this hill, prey runs around here just as much. And we have this river, that between ours and Rockclan. " Flicking her tail for Dustpaw to follow, stopping at the river. "It doesn't hold fish but can you scent what is here?" Strong scent of voles and then she'll continue and they'll be able to the others. "And if we keep going, this river is an apart of a waterfall. This is what we claimed from Rockclan's old territory. This is called the Hanging Flat."

There, now the next borders to go on.

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw grinned hugely as his mentor led him out of the camp and into the territory. He nodded at each point Treasurehunt told him. He admittedly likes the look of the grassy plain the best. Space to run and fight. Perfect.

So Fireclan shared borders with Rockclan and Iceclan... interesting. "We don't need tree." He meowed, as if it were obvious.

Treasurehunt looked back at him with a grin, and he flash his own quickly, wondering what she was planning. They came to the river, and Dustpaw let out a laugh. No fish. "I scent... I don't know. It sorta smells like a mouse or something... Ah! A vole?" He meowed, hoping he got it right.

[Treasurehunt]

"Voles do scavenger around here a lot and the hill here have mice, rabbits, shrews. Careful of predators of Hawks when your on Dandelion Hill.. Okay, let's head to one of the clan borders." Going to the edge of the border nearby was Treeclan, she stopped tail lengths away.. "There clan is more forest then ours." You could see many trees close together and even spotting squirrels just climbing up them.
"Those colored stones you see there? That's between our border and there's. Both clans fight over them and... I don't have an explanation even for why. Sun-bathing.. The leader is Arrowstar. It's best to know the scent of each clan too Dustpaw. Can you know they're clan talent?" she asked Dustpaw.

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw nodded, smiling. Cool, he'd been right. "Oh, predators? Okay, I'll keep my wits about me." He meowed, following Treasurehunt. Oooh, a load of trees... "Yep, a lot more foresty." He meowed, as if it were really hard to believe, eyeing a squirrel as it chattered, climbing one of the many trees.

He then turned his gaze to the stones as his mentor pointed it out, interested. "Sunbathing on the stones? We fight over that?" He shrugged, and nodded as Treasurehunt named the Treeclan leader. "Yep, knew that one." He told her, drawing in the scent of Treeclan to get familiar with it.

"There talent is moving in the tree's, right? Like those squirrels." He grinned, the image of cats hopping around in treetops with acorns amusing him further. He then realised he'd been a little to happy go easy about this and smothered his smile, going serious and all business again.

[Treasurehunt]

"Yes, they climb and yes, the stones ...it's silly but it's a duty. And you know of Arrowstar? Nice you know your information." She commented. She led him nearby a chunk of earth of ivy and moss that Tree and Fire shared kind of. "Here these enormous boulders of of all sizes is another another small kind of hunting area for shrews and rabbits but at night it gets real foggy." Having to add that in.

"Next is Iceclan." Taking him to a waterfall that was in their own territory where a river was connected. There you can see high mountains far out way ahead and close to the border of theirs. "Okay, I'm sure you know what kind of environment they live in now." She said with a obvious answer. "They're talent is jumping and leader is Fallenstar." Letting him answer.

"Quiet easy." Treasurehunt said,"And Rockclan, they live past us, by Iceclan border." Turning to Fireclan territory, she glanced at Dustpaw ,"Now, ready to hunt?" She asked him enthusiastically.

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw gazed curiously at the giant boulders as they passed them, wondering what it would look like at night with the fog. Would it be spooky or cool?

He nodded when Treasurehunt told him Iceclan was next. He looked at the waterfall they came to and had to blink a few times. It was real pretty. "Oh, Mountains. okay." He meowed, dazed sort of. It would snow here, right? He shook out his fur. "Fallenstar. Jumping. Right. They also have thick fur, too, don't they?"

When Treasurehunt turned enthusiastically to him, he tilted his head to the side, and then grinned when she said hunting. "Yeah! Let's do this." He chuckled, ready to be awesome and catch some prey.

[Treasurehunt]

"Okay, first is the hunters crouch." She demonstrated. Lowering herself to the ground.
"But I'm sure your a natural at this already, aren't you? Check your surroundings too. Any leaves or anything that can make sound will scare away prey. "Don't drag your belly either, keep it above ground." Keeping her tail straight.

She began to step quickly and quietly for a few steps. "Okay, your go. Plus...Do you scent anything?"

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw mimicked his mentor, trying hard to get his paws in the correct position. He lifted his belly off the ground as she told him to, and copied leaving the tail straight. He nodded as she told him about things that can scare prey, like leaves and stuff. He checked around him, avoiding the sticks and leaves.

He watches as she moved a few steps, and then asked him if he scented anything. He frowned as he carefully padded to her side - again avoiding leaves and twigs - and took a deep breath in.

"I scent... mouse. And birds, but they'd be to hard to catch, right. I also small rabbit? Is that too fast to catch? It doesn't allowing to use a hunting crouch. Maybe we can go for the mouse then..." He murmured to himself, forgetting Treasurehunt was there for the moment as his eyes closed and his senses took over.

[Treasurehunt]

"Hmmm perhaps start small at first then we can move on to the others." Dustpaw crouch looked good.
Sniffed the air, he was right. The mouse trail was just around where they were. "You may not be able to see the prey yet, but you can scent it, creep and try get as close as you can then pounce, claws unsheathed. Biting the neck is the best way to kill it."

Tresurehunt glanced at him with encouragement,"Whenever your ready!"

[Dustpaw]

Dustpaw flicked his ear to show he'd heard Treasurehunt. He began to creep forwards, probably taking longer strides than he should, and came to a still near a gently rustling clump of grass. The mouse scent was strong here.

He grinned, concentrating, and went to pounce. There was a loud crack under his paw though, because he'd pushed his weight onto a stick and cracked it. His ears flattened as he quickly dived at the now visibly panicked mouse and he sunk his claws into it, remembering that Treasurehunt said to bite it he did. Though it was messy, he had caught his first mouse. He turned and looked triumphantly at Treasurehunt. "Did I do it okay?" He asked, smiling. Even if he hadn't it didn't matter to him.

Still lowered to the ground herself, she stayed still and watched Dustpaw go for the prey.
Oh no! Hearing the sound of a crack, she knew it was a stick but Dustpaw didn't call it quits. He kept on after it.
"You did fine!" She responded. Walking to him. "Great leap. Were you afraid you would of lost it at first?" She asked him, curious of his answer.

Dustpaw smiled at Treasurehunt when she said he did fine.

When she asked her question, he nodded. "Yeah, I was real sure it was gone!" He meowed, animatedly. He was so very enthused that he'd actually managed to catch it though.

[Treasurehunt]

"It would of been but you kept a good pace of speed even when you gave your location away by accident but it happens. The main thing is you caught it. The good thing is to have the wind blowing in your direction so the scent won't carry off when after anything else like rabbits, birds, squirrels, shrews."

Glancing at Dustpaw,"Now the only predators we have is hawks. Those you can't take down by ourselves. Those are mostly spotted on the hill I showed earlier."

"Ok Dustpaw. Surprise me on what your next catch is." She said with a grin.
