[Shadowpaw]

Firekit

After she was found, Shadowkit was brought into the nursery, very weak and too tired to do anything, including sleep. Her adopted mother had left her some quiet time to sleep and get comfortable, but she dozed off not once. A stir came from the nest next to hers, and she crawled weakly to the edge and peered over. The black tortoiseshell kitten blinked heavily and sunk into her nest again, hoping to doze off at seeing another kit in the nest, knowing she hadn't been left completely alone.

She sighed, her mind swirling. She remembered being alone on the mountain, or maybe she was hallucinating. She tucked her muzzle beneath her paws, and curled her tail around herself. The black fluffy ball still couldn't sleep, and so she yawned in annoyance, unraveling herself in a stretch. She heard a noise from the next nest and turned her head quickly towards the source.

[Firekit]

Firekit woke up from a presumably long nap and remembered nothing of how he had gotten to wherever he was currently. He knew that he was very tired, and layed back down for a moment to regain some energy before lifting up his head and looking at his surroundings. He appeared to be in some sort of nest or den, and struggled to look up the sides. He scanned around the nest he was in until he say another small kitten peering over the side at him. She appeared tired, as he was. Firekit wanted to catch the other kitten's attention, and so he let out a high-pitched "meow" from inside his nest, hoping to draw her attention towards him.

Shadowkit heard the other kit meow, and stood back up, and stared over the edge of the nest at him. It was another dark colored cat, but this one had a white stripe vertically across his face. She climbed over the side of the nests and into his. She curled up again and stared at him. The kitten had figured, at least for herself, that this cat was friend. For now.

[Firekit]

Firekit saw the other kitten climb over into his nest, curled up again and stared at him. Firekit walked over to his new friend and gave her a lick on the forehead before stumbling down onto the floor. He curled up next to her and decided to lay his head down to rest. He liked having company in his nest, and it made him feel a gentle and calm happiness as he layed down and rested.

When the other kit had licked her forehead she knew she had indeed made a friend. She blinked sleepily and yawned. She wondered if this kit had a name too, and decided to ask. What your nim, frin? She couldn't formulate the words entirely correct, probably due to fatigue, intending to say "what's your name, friend". The dark kitten watched the smaller kit and laid her head down, covering her muzzle with her paws, still watching him for a response.

[Firekit]

Firekit saw the other kitten blink sleepily, and he began to become sleepy as well. He stayed curled up next to her resting as he answered her question, which he knew was meant to be "what's your name, friend?". Firekit yawned for a moment and then replied "Firekit. What's your name?". He was curious about this new friend of his. He wanted to know if they were there for the same reason, as well to know her more in general. He liked having made a new friend.

[Shadowpaw]

Shadow... she yawned, then remembered that now, she had a new name to go with her new family, ...kit. She closed her eyes and thought about why she was here in the first place: some cat decided to take her away from her usual routine of trying to survive, and brought her here to the warm mountain society. She was in a way resentful of being taken, but also grateful because, well, safety. She soon dozed off.

[Firekit]

"Shadowkit" Firekit thought to himself, "that's a pretty name". He slowly began to doze off thinking about his new friend. He didn't know where he had been before this, but it felt right to be in the little nest they were in now. He felt safe where he was. He wondered if there were other kittens around, and where the grown cats were. However, his sleepiness overpowered any curiosity he had. Slowly his eyelids became too heavy, and they closed. He adjusted his body closer to Shadowkit and curled up tighter before becoming comfortable enough to doze off as well.

Shadowkit yawned. Her eyes opened, and surveyed the nursery. Light was now flittering in from cracks and the entrance, and she could tell that she had actually slept for once. The smaller kit had fallen asleep as well, she noticed, and Shadowkit sniffed him. He was still asleep for the time being, and her own energy was restored after a long nap. She stood and stretched, and licked her fur. She sniffed Firekit again, and gently swatted his ears with her paw to wake him up. She paced around the nest, and climbed up onto an edge. There, the dark kit perched herself and watched around the room, keeping an eye on her friend.

[Firekit]

Firekit awoke to find that Shadowkit had moved from her spot next to him. He yawned as he got up and stretched himself out before looking around to try finding Shadowkit. Upon looking around he spotted her sitting up on an edge of the nest looking at him. He began walking over to where she was and came across a piece of moss that he couldn't help but pick up. He climbed upwards and brought the moss over to Shadowkit, and then rolled it up into a ball shape. "Hey, Shadowkit, watch this" he said before rolling the moss down the side of the nest and chasing after it. It was so entertaining to do that. He brought the moss back up and rolled it down once more while chasing it, hoping Shadowkit would be interested in joining him.

Shadowkit tilted her head to the side, and swiped the ball away from Firekit upon one of his returns. She stood on her back paws and flung it across the nursery. She sat back down and watched him, then hopping down and slowly following the ball. She then sat next to the ball and batted it around with her paws.

[Firekit]

Shadowkit had taken the ball of moss on one of the times that he had come back up with it, and then flung it across the nest while standing on her back two paws. Firekit chased the ball and followed right next to Shadowkit, attempting to swipe at it from time to time as it lay on the ground. This would push the moss ball around quite a bit and he had to move around often to stay by it. He found that it was quite fun, and he would push the ball over to Shadowkit so that she could push it around as well until it came back in his direction. He liked playing this game, and he was enjoying playing with his new friend.

Shadowkit stood and slowly followed Firekit as he played with the ball. She quickly hooked a claw in it and flung it again across the nursery. She glanced back at Firekit to see if he would chase it, and then bolted after it herself. She didn't see the point of chasing a ball of dead moss, but it was something to do, they got exercise this way so that's something at least.

[Firekit]

Firekit bolted across the nest when Shadowkit threw the moss once again, and saw that she had decided to pursue it as well. She seemed to be going along with the game. It was a fun game to Firekit, and he hoped his friend thought so too. He swiped at the ball of moss once they had caught up to it and pushed it over to Shadowkit in doing so, so that she could play as well.

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO"

Shadowkit pawed the ball of moss softly, and raised her paw to her nose. It smelt like moss, felt like moss, it was sure moss of some kind. She gave it a good swat and the ball flew away once more. She chased it, and paused near the entrance, looking curiously outside.
