Calista chuckled, "Please, people don't exsactly respond well when you can take away the thing that gives them a chance against others." she said, "I think my power is more hated than yours, it's just that fewer people knew about mine."
"I'm sure she's fine wherever she is. She's a fighter, I figured that out."

I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad The craziest friend that you've ever had You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Loki raised his non-exsistant eyebrows. "She would fight until she dropped if she could."

Calista gave a small smile. "The question is never what you do until you drop. It's what you do after that can save your life."

Loki thought about this for a moment, before responding once more. "Not if your dying for the right cause."

Calista bit her lip. "You never have to die, not of any injuries or illnesses. A cat dies when they give in to the darkness, if a cat is strong enough to hang on, they needn't die for any cause." she said. "The most important fights are mental. The most important fights are after you drop."

"Was that what you thought when I did die? That time... I thought I was dying, and I was dying for the right cause. But here I am, next to you, alive and well. What did you think, did you think the same?"

Calista nodded, then shook her head. "Between age and experience and just not caring to think that far back, I'm not sure what I thought then." she said, a small part of her mind going back to the memory and forcing her out of the mood to converse yet again.

Loki nodded, lost in thought. The first time he "died," he wasn't sure what was going to happen to him. All three siblings used to joke about throwing a cat off the Edge, and Loki never expected that cat to be him. Those vile aliens found him and tortured the life out of him, until he tricked them to let him go. The second time he died, he expected that he would die. He had been stabbed through the chest with a sword, and left on a dead realm by his brother. His brother didn't even bother to bring him home, he just merely stated he would tell father what Loki had done that day. Yet, he felt into an unconscious state, and healed himself in some way, with the help of the alien's blood on the sword. It had been a horrible experience, and honestly, Loki felt that he shouldn't be here to tell his tale.

(I just relized that Calista was "dead" before both times Loki "died," so she wouldn't know about those times.)
Calista shook her head. "Death changes. It brings the deepest desire at the moment. No matter what form it comes in, a promise of escape from the pain, the promise to see the long desceased, or even the promise to get away from the world we live in, it is a promise, and it is one that you choose to submit to. If you chose to, sometimes only a few cats have the ability to heal you, but even so, you can't trust those close to you to be there when you both need it, so just... don't submit. Minipulate death as it wants to minipulate you."

Loki's eyes found the red dust all around him, as it swirled and drifted in the dry wind, slightly discolouring his black paws. He found it hard to answer to Cali's statement, she wanted him to manipulate death. That, there, was something he had once done, but it was hard to do, actually nearly impossible. "Not all can outrun the unspoken truth of humanity. We all die."

Calista nodded. "That we do, I just..." she hesitated for a moment before blurring out, "I just don't want one of us to die while we're still mad at each other. I don't want you to die at all, but I don't think I could put up with all those unresolved conflictions along with you being dead."

Loki, having run out of words to say long ago, and being the type to not talk as much as most, simply stepped forward close to Cali, close enough that she could rest her head on his shoulder if she pleased, and leaned down to her ear. He was not fond of whispering, as he found the wispy words annoying, so he instead talked quietly, in a voice that matched his own. He had a gentle voice, and the British accent he owned only added to it. Plus, this being his little sister, his voice held more of that gentleness than what he would usually speak in on a normal basis, or to anyone else. "I'll always be here, Cali. You have no need to fear."

Calista shook her head. "You know that's not true. We'll eventually part ways, whether through death or of free will. I just don't want to be fighting when we do."

Loki took a step back from her, then another step. "Cali..." he started, then left his sentence unfinished.

Calista shook her head, looking up at the sky. "Loki, I've got to go." she said, then turned and left paying attention to make sure he didn't follow.
(Yeah, she just wasn't staying long enough to let the emotions she had all covered up come up as they would have. I don't want her a crying mess quite yet.)
