She traveled on, on past the raging seas and snowcapped mountains, on past the thunderous cries during the stormy nights, leaving behind a world of magic for a world of new beginnings, new hopes, new adventures. She had dreamt of the day she would escape every night, every night whilst laying on a sandy beach and staring up at the dancing stars in the sky; seeing how many she could count before it was time to sneak back home before any one noticed she was gone.
Now, Faeryn came across a field of pretty and bright wildflowers, the familiar scent of mouse making her stomach grumble in hunger.
The warrior had learned not to gorge herself with meals, eating less than the average cat in her hometown. They were a fat island, filled with luxuries and almost too much food. She never had to worry about running out, never had to worry about starving.
However; eating only few mice the past four days had certainly taken a toll on her energy, the bubbly she-cat spacing out and thinking about a delicious rabbit snug between her jaws.
Though, she was a highly trained warrior, and she would get on. Thanks to her uncle, she could fight and survive for herself; never depending on anyone for protection. The only problem was, the girl could be caught in any trap; nearly landing in one the other day when she stumbled across a cave with a family of foxes. Thank the gods she had paid attention during her lessons, though not so much during her healing techniques.
Faeryn found a spot where if she laid just right, grass could cover her completely and she was shaded perfectly. It took her a while to recognize it, but a tail wagged just a bit before her in the shaded area; long and gray. She pawed it curiously, wondering who was the owner of the wiggling tail.

The Meadow was a great source of prey, lush with squeaking mice, voles and even the odd hare that were plumped from the plentiful grains around them. Wildflowers also proved to be a wonderful scent distraction for the rodents, Gale easily masking himself with a quick roll amongst some blue blossoms. Dislodging a particularly clingy petal from his shoulderblade, he set out into the field with one objective that posed itself to him every single day: feed himself.
He snaked through the grass, ears upright and flickering, padding smoothly between the long stalks of wild grain, until the telltale thumping of a hare's hind legs captured his attention. He froze, waited until he could pinpoint the noise: a fluffy, grey rabbit, loping gently through the ferns. He pressed himself to the ground, tail sweeping behind him, when he felt paws on the tip of it. Startled, he whipped his tail out of range of whoever the cat was, spinning around to confront the culprit.

Faeryn smiled when a face was brought before hers, the tail now out of reach. The feline was excited, not having met anyone since her journey to... well, wherever her paws would take her, really. She hoped she wouldn't rub off in the wrong way, maybe make a friend.
"Hi." She started, going on to introduce herself. "I'm Faeryn, and I like your tail."
Sitting up tall, she smiled widely; hoping she would pull off her facade. The princess hadn't many friends back home, always busy with training and sneaking out. Some would say she was a little 'inexperienced' in that area.

Who was this cat? And why did she like his tail?
"Thanks," he muttered, confused out of his mind. "My mother gave it to me."
Then, this cat was beaming at him, whoever she was. Gale almost took a step back, but decided against it, instead narrowing his flashing amber eyes at this stranger, who identified herself as 'Faeryn'. He gave his tabby gray fur a quick shake, clearing it of the grass that had clung to his pelt.
"I'm Gale," he meowed, somewhat reluctantly. He really needed to get going, to pick up where he left off - sans the rabbit that must've bolted away to the safety of its own burrow now.
"I'd really love to stay and chat, but I've got some hunting to do," he meowed to the she-cat.

"Your Welcome." Faeryn shrugged, stretching out her paws then matching the stance of the other cat. "Gale?" She repeated, the name odd. It was simple, not crazily fancy and hard to pronounce. She liked it. "Nice to meet you."
At the mention of hunting, the feline perked up even more. "Hunting. Mind if I join you? I'm very good at it." Her mouth watered at the thought of a juicy bird, or a plump rabbit; paws shifting in impatience.

A hunting partner. Interesting.
Gale's never had one, but he supposes they must be of some use. Besides, he was intrigued by this cat, her foreign accent and the readiness to talk to him. All something very uncommon from a loner. He gave a faint nod.
"Of course, if you'd like."
Then he turned around again, not looking to see if she was following, stepping quietly back out into the Meadow, ready to run the whole drill again.

Faeryn nodded, crouching low and moving forward quietly. She pointed her nose in the direction of a rustling plant; the scent of rabbits filling her senses. Judging by the strength of the smell, there were at least a few of them; one for each cat. The warrior signaled to Gale, her tail pointing to the area.
Faeryn inched forward, slowly, until she could get a decent view of the prey without being spotted. She decided to wait until any further actions made by Gale, wanting to repay him for scaring away the prey he'd been chasing earlier.

Gale appreciated the silentness with which Faeryn moved, and matched that by putting his paws down noiselessly with every step he took. The scent of the rabbits reached him a moment after it reached the she-cat, and he pressed himself down to the ground as he heard the rustle of the grass. He acted on her gesture, padding silently to the other side of the plant, meeting Faeryn's eyes and flicking his ear, hoping she got the gesture to wait a second.
Then he pressed himself down even further and leapt, hoping to catch the rabbits by surprise; and surprise he did, the three dust-coloured bunnies squealing in fear and dashing out, away from the plant, into the direction of Faeryn.

The feline acted fast, stretching out her claws as she gracefully leapt onto the closest rabbit, sinking her teeth into the soft spot between it's neck - snapping to kill it immediately.
Her eyes raked across the clearing, coming across the second bunny that ran with all it's might to escape. She licked the blood from her mouth as her powerful legs ran down the animal, perfectly matching the dashes and jumps the rabbit was making. It was over sooner than later, prey between her legs as she made the final killing blow.
Figuring that Gale would want to kill his own meal, she looked over her shoulder; hoping he was getting to the last rabbit.

The last rabbit was a foxlength away, and Gale bounded forward on his long legs and sank his teeth into the throat of the poor thing, killing it almost immediately. He turned back to Faeryn, prize in jaw, with a hint of a smile on his face.
"We make good hunting partners," he meowed, eyes alight.

Faeryn winked when she saw the dead creature tight between his jaws, all life gone from it in the blink of an eye. "That, we do."
She didn't bother fetching the other rabbit, instead sitting down to enjoy her fresh caught meal. A kind breeze settled over them, swishing between the ferns gently. The first bite calmed her angry stomach, and the second bite tasted just like Heaven.
Her food was gone in a matter of time. She would've eaten the other too, but she didn't want to seem rude. Besides - it was just not having eaten for a while that made her think she was so ravenous, when in reality, she was more full than she liked to be.
The she-cat swept her tongue over her teeth, dislodging any rabbit meat left behind. A paw went across her muzzle, erasing the few spots of blood that may have stained.
She hesitantly looked over to Gale, not sure what exactly to talk about. There were so many new things she was experiencing in the open world, things that didn't exist back home.
Even the stars were different, though she loved the new sky before her just as same as the last one, maybe even more. The way the earth felt beneath her paws and the sun felt on her skin was odd; even the waves moved differently than the too-perfect and bland rhythmic splashes on the island.
So, she decided to ask every cat she met the one, most important question.
"What is your most favorite thing about the earth?"

Gale decided upon sitting down with his tail wrapped around his paws, starting slowly on his meal. The rabbit was delicious, taming the ravenous beast within him as he swallowed the flesh down. His fur, messy with sprigs of leaves caught in it, shone silver underneath the sun.
At his company's question, he took a second to think about it, cleaning his claws as he did. His pale blue eyes flashed as he settled on an answer.
"Freedom," he meowed. "Yourself?"

"I am not so sure." She admitted, casting a glance at the fading sun. "But I do hope to find out."
Faeryn let her mouth fall into a yawn, blinking repeatedly to try and stay awake. She should be leaving, she decided. Not wanting to push herself into the company of others. "I should relieve you of my presence, the sun is fading and the day is ending. Thank you for letting me hunt with you, I do hope we meet again." She smiled, nodding at Gale in gratitude.

Gale glanced at the she-cat, Oxford-blue eyes flashing in curiosity. The hunt had done nothing more than further his confusion of her, whoever she was.
"Agreed," he murmured quietly, not having moved from his position with his tail around his paws. He looked over at the sunset, a flowing river of warm colors; reds, oranges, even a little pink gushed over the horizon to bid the sun farewell.
"Stay safe, Faeryn."

"And you as well, Gale." She murmured, before turning to find a shelter for the night.
