KitepawSwanfrost wasn't very thrilled to learn that she had another apprentice. She had two before him, and both had fallen off the face of the earth. She loathed the thought of Kitepaw doing this, knowing that once again her time would be wasted. It was early. Much earlier than Swanfrost was used to. The sun was just peaking over the horizon, sending a light glow of orange onto the camp. The air was crisp, slightly chilly as leaf-fall was making itself noticed, yet no leaves had started to fall yet. She stretched, having already eaten and poked her head into the apprentice den. "Kitepaw." She whispered sharply, her keen blue eyes searching for him. "Get up, time to train."

-tysm for doing this-
Kitepaw sighed softly when a voice awoke him from his deep sleep. He was having an amazing dream as well- he was out hunting and caught enough prey to feed the entire clan by himself. However, this slight irritation quickly dissolved when he realised that the cat whom had awoken him was his new mentor, Swanfrost. A smile spread across his face as he lifted himself and stretched, shaking his long fur and making his way over to the warrior. "Morning," he smiled warmly, looking up into the thin-furred cat's blue eyes.

Swanfrost didn't return the greeting, giving him a quick one-over. He was fairly fluffy, although nothing would particularly set him back-all but his missing tail. She supposed she would just have to see how well he would function. "Grab something to eat." She gestured to the fresh kill pile, her voice low and rather unfriendly, yet not mean. "How much have you learned already." She desperately hoped he was already past the territory tour; she hated doing those.

Kitepaw frowned a little at Swanfrost's tone of voice- Rosetail had been nicer to him, but oh well, as long as he was being trained. Besides, who was he to make judgement? The apprentice nodded and made his way over to the fresh kill pile, picking off a mouse and returning to the white warrior. "I guess I've learned a bit," He elaborated, "I've had a tour so I know my way around, I was also taught about some basic stuff too, like offensive and defensive stances."

Swanfrost nodded, pleased. "Good. Today we're just gonna go through some of the basics of hunting, and if you do well with that we might do a quick spar, that way I can see what you can do." She stated, drawing a paw over her ear.
She waited for him to finish his mouse, standing up, giving her limbs a stretch and trotting out of the camp entrance. She didn't wait to see if he was following, her pace brisk. She stopped once they were a good distance away from camp, turning back to face Kitepaw. "Have you been showed the hunters crouch yet?"

Kitepaw nodded, quickly finishing his food as he spoke, "Sounds good," he noted simply, actually pretty excited that he was going to learn even more than he already had.
"No, sorry," he replied to her question, "I only did a tour and basic battle stances with Rosetail," he explained, glancing around at the familiar surroundings.

"Alright then, try and copy me." Swanfrost then dropped into a long perfected hunters crouch. Her tail was perfectly still, low enough not to be seen, but just barely high enough not to brush through the grass. Her legs each held the same amount of weight, and her shoulders were wide enough so that she could move around easily, but not too wide where she couldn't be stealthy. She looked towards Kitepaw, waiting to see his.

-i'm sorry this is so late, i've had zero muse and i'm still tryna force it back-
Kitepaw nodded, watching Swanfrost and trying to take in certain details- weight distribution and height off the ground. He also noted her tail height, although there was, unfortunately for him, no reason to. He then began trying to copy her, just about getting it right, although he wobbled slightly, partially due to his usual bad balance, partially as he had never done it before. "Is this okay?" he asked.

Sky frowned, observing his wobbling form. "No, it's not." She stated honestly, sounding a little too harsh. "Try spreading your paws a little more. Put some more weight on your back legs." She wasn't sure how well it would work, but it was worth trying.
-all good-

-late again but i'm trying to get a few characters active again-
Kitepaw flicked his grey ear in annoyance when he was informed that his positioning as infact wrong. However, he still took Swanfrost's advice in hopes that he could get it right this time. The young tom shuffled slightly, spreading his paws further apart and taking a quick glance back at the position of his back paws. "Is this any better?" he asked.

“I guess we’ll find out.” Swanfrost blinked, moving a few fox tails away from him. “Okay, now pretend I’m a mouse. The first thing a mouse is going to notice while being hunted is the vibration of each pawsteps you take. Use your hunters crouch and watch out for leaves or twigs, and make sure the wind is blowing towards your face.”
