Firekit walked rather slowly and unsteadily as he stumbled upon the less even terrain that evidently characterized some of the camp. The ground was a bit more uneven and less welcoming than that of the nursery had been. However, he was curious to explore the rest of their home and he wasn't going to let it stop him. He turned to make sure that Shadowkit was right behind him and allowed her to catch up before they continued walking. Everything looked significantly different than did the nursery, but it all looked interesting to him. "What do you think Shadowkit?" he asked, stumbling over a rock briefly "This place sure is big". "NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowkit followed Firekit out of the nursery. She walked close to him in case he fell, the smaller dark kitten seemed unsteady on his own legs on the new terrain. She looked around and took in the different dens, and the sky. She hadn't seen the sky in what felt like forever, or at least before she was taken to this place. The ground where they were was a bit uneven, and the sky was bright with sun, past the trees. Not big, we are small, she replied.

Firekit continued walking along, the ground gradually becoming more even as he did. He wondered at how much bigger other cats that might live there were. Just then he smelled a strange scent, a repulsive one at that. "Ew, what is that smell?" he asked as he turned around towards Shadowpaw "I can't tell what it is, but it's coming from over here". He walked off a short way further down the path that they had been on, and saw a large lump of something slightly off to the side. As he walked closer he realized that it was a dead animal of some sort. It smelled bad, and it was bigger than both him and Shadowpaw. "Wow, whoever lives here must need to be big enough to take down an animal that size" he said "I guess we really are small".

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Eagle. Shadowpaw sniffed the dead prey, following Firekit. She was slightly bigger than him, being a little older, but he was right-
it was quite large compared to them. It did smell quite odd, as the bird seemed old, but she could smell behind it- facing the camp entrance, of course- freshly killed prey. The stench of death still lingered, but she quickly grew disinterested. She wandered around the back of it, behind a huge flat-sided boulder, and found a small stream. Small fish darted back and forth, minnows. Shadowpaw watched them intently.

Firekit watched as Shadowpaw smelled the eagle as she had called it. It certainly had a very strange scent. However, he smelled something else behind it that evidently Shadowpaw had smelled as well. She wandered around a large boulder following the new scent. Firekit, seeing that the eagle was nothing of much use or interest to them, followed her around to a small stream. In that stream he saw a number of small fish, darting around rather quickly in the water. He watched as Shadow stared at the fish with focus. "Hey, Shadowpaw" he said "Are you thinking what i'm thinking?". Firekit walked up to the edge of the stream and lunged with his paw at one of the small fish. He waited a few seconds for the water to calm, and then lunged again as the fish came back closer to him. "I'm sure if we try enough times, we can catch one" he said, and continued to try catching a fish.

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowpaw let out a purr of amusement, and let her own paw strike the water. It splashed forward, and the fish scattered. Once they returned in calm waters again, the dark apprentice snapped her paw downwards onto a fish. The minnow nearly escaped, its tail got caught on one of her claws. She lifted her paw, and it fell off. It tried to swim away, and Shadowpaw watched it struggle with a hole in its tail fin.

Firekit watched as Shadowpaw lunged at the small fish as well. She lunged repeatedly and waited each time for the water to calm and the fish to return. Before long Shadowpaw managed to hook her claw into the tail of one, weakening it considerably. It dropped from her claw and she left it in the water as it struggled to swim away. Firekit watched as the small fish slowly began to wiggle its fins less and less, until it stopped. He clawed the fish and picked it up from within the water, handing it over to Shadowpaw. "Nice job Shadowpaw" he said with enthusiasm "Could you teach me how to do that? You didn't even seem like you had trouble with it".

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowpaw looked warmly at Firekit and moved her eyes back to the water. Wait until it is close enough, but can't see you. Be fast and make sure it can't escape. She spotted another small fish, and crouched low. She swished her tail and perked her ears forward as she brought her paw straight down through the water at it, pinning it to the rock below. She unseathed her claws and stabbed it, bringing the tiny dead fish back to the rock with the other one. You try?

Firekit crouched down and swung his tail back and forth excitedly. He focused all his attention on the pond and stared at the fish below, trying to find one that was not paying attention. After watching several fish swim past he found one that seemed a little too careless and got a little too close for its own good. He lunged his paw straight down and scooped the fish inward towards him, pinning it against the rocky shore. He then dragged the fish out of the water with his claw dug into it. "Cool! I caught one! Thanks Shadowpaw" he said excitedly. Firekit picked up the fish in his jaws and placed it in front of Shadowpaw, offering a gift for her help in catching it. "Here, you can have it" he said, swinging his tail up and down "where should we go next?".

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowpaw let out a slightly amused purr of thanks for the gift of a minnow. She glanced around, thinking. She scoped up the small fish and ate it gratefully, flicking her tail to the other tiny prey for Firekit to eat as well. She licked her paws and hopped over the stream once she was finished.

Firekit watched Shadowpaw eat his gift appreciatively, and he was happy his new friend enjoyed the fish that he gave her. She flicked her tail at the fish that she had caught, offering it to him. Firekit picked up the fish, set it in front of him and ate it happily. After he finished he jumped over to Shadowpaw and looked up at her curiously, waiting to discover their next destination.

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowpaw glanced at a nearby tree. It had some low branches and dangled to the two small cats' heights. Do you know how to climb a tree? She hopped over to it and turned back to her friend.

Firekit looked up at the tree somewhat nervously. "I dont think ive ever climbed very high before" he said. He hesitated for a moment, then walked over to where Shadowpaw was. "I can try, but I might need help" he said. He was a little nervous and scared, but he knew Shadowpaw would help him and that made him feel braver. He jumped up next to her and waited for her to show him how to climb it.

"NELLA FANTASIA IO VEDO UN MONDO GUISTO" Shadowpaw put her two front paws on the lowest branch, which just spo happened to hang close to the ground. She hopped on it, and glanced at Firekit before latching her claws into the trunk and hauling herself up bit by bit to a branch a little further up. The apprentice looked down at the little dark kit below her and waited for him to try. She soon hopped down a branch closer to him to make sure he didn't hurt himself.

Firekit watched as Shadowpaw climbed onto a low hanging branch and dug her claws into the trunk of the tree. She climbed up with what seemed like relative ease. After climbing up quite a ways she decided to go back down a short distance, presumably to be able to help him should he need it. Firekit jumped up onto the same branch that she had used to get up, and dug his claws into the tree trunk as securely as he could get them. He looked down for a moment, but decided that it didn't help to focus on his fear. He looked up at Shadowpaw and seeing that she was there to help him, began clawing his way up the trunk. He went higher and higher and didn't notice that he had no problem getting up until he had managed to rest himself on a branch next to Shadowpaw's. He looked over at her, clinging to the tree branch to make sure he didn't fall. "Well, I didn't expect to get this high up" he said "how high should we go?".
