Duskkit sniffed a mouse that had fallen off the fresh-kill pile. He wasn't disrespecting it or anything! He was just checking it out... He wasn't doing anything bad at all! He was just... Curious. He was old enough to eat meat, but he'd never eaten a mouse before. However, he wasn't hungry at the moment, so it was a waste to eat it. So he was just... Looking at it. Wondering how tasty it'd be when he finally got hungry and stuff! He was more than a little absorbed in his inspection of the mouse. It'd be easy to sneak up on him.

Another day, another thing achieved. Whether it was hunting, fighting or just getting to know the territory, Lionpaw felt his pride bubble up every time he thought about his progress. Even the somewhat pathetically sized squirrel in his jaws was proof that he was getting somewhere.
Trotting into camp, he made his way over to the fresh-kill pile to drop off his latest catch. Unfortunately, his mind was wandering, somewhat stuck in a fog, and he failed to spot a kit near the fresh-kill pile. He yelped as his front paw tripped up on a small, fluffy object, almost sending him head first into the pile.

Duskkit had been surprised when he'd suddenly been kicked in the side. He'd been forcibly rolled onto his side with a yelp. "Aaagh...." He moaned for several moments, feeling rather terrible about having been knocked over! It hurt a little... He wished Fawnskip was here!
He didn't notice his face morphing into a pitiful pout, as he turned his expression on the unfortunate apprentice who'd tripped over him through virtue of not making sure there was nothing to trip over near the fresh-kill pile.

Dust was kicked up into the air as Lionpaw kicked away from the fresh-kill pile, rolling onto his side instead. The squirrel, somehow, had still landed where it was supposed to - right in the middle. For a second he groaned, before flicking his ears up at the sound of another cat. Wait a minute. He stood back up, eyes widening at the sight of a rather sad looking kit.
Oh no. Lionpaw might've had experience with his siblings but that didn't mean he knew how to deal with genuinely upset kits. Padding over the the kit cautiously, he said, "Uh, I tripped over you, didn't I? Geez, that's pretty dumb, isn't it? Sorry 'bout that." What was he doing. "So, er, what's your name? I'm Lionpaw. Usually a lot less clumsy than that."

Duskkit looked up at the bigger cat who'd kicked him! Though, the big cat said he'd tripped. So it wasn't a kick? Plus he apologized, so Duskkit figured this cat, Lionpaw apparently, wasn't mean after all or anything. His pout melted away into a small, friendly smile. "I'm Duskkit! It's alright. You didn't mean it, so that makes it okay." He chirped.
He tilted his head. So... Lionpaw was an apprentice? He was pretty big. Would Duskkit be that big when he grew up a little? He wondered if Lionpaw felt weird about being so big. He was sure he would feel weird if he was that big.

As the kit's expression lightened up, so did his own, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. Whatever he'd said during his rambling had managed to calm them down, it seemed, so perhaps he should keep doing that. He took the kit's reassurance as a compliment, and his smile grew bigger. "Heh, yeah, usually the only kind of cats I'd bowl over would be my own fabulous siblings. But, anyways, it's nice to meet you, Duskkit."
Lionpaw straightened himself up at Duskkit's curious stare, puffing up with pride. It was becoming an instinctual thing at this point, showing himself off to anyone and everyone, and he meowed, "So, this your first time out? I mean, no offense, but it doesn't seem like you've seen an apprentice like me before. Unless I just have a certain aura about me."

Duskkit tilted his head. "You have siblings? And you... Bowl them over?" That sounded weird to him. He didn't really have siblings of his own, so he didn't really get it. But he guessed crashing into each other was a thing that siblings did normally...? Still sounded odd to him, no matter which way he tried to think about it.
"Thanks. It's nice to meet you too." Then he nodded, maybe a little too much. "Nope! Never seen an apprentice before. You're pretty big!" He chirped. He remembered a little about... Before... And he didn't get to talk to many cats much ever. It was nice being around so many cats all the time, even if he hadn't the chance to talk to many yet!
