Nightingale, sorry this is short. Aelin walked through the plains. She had been there before, but then she had continued on her traveling. She later discovered that her friend had stayed behind and she came back to stay. It was a nice enough place and she had set up a den before. She had checked and it was still unoccupied. She was on her way to get some new moss so she could straighten up the old den when she sensed another cat. "Hello," she drawled, not particularly caring who, exactly, it was she was talking to.

two enormous black wings Rose seemed to be spending a disproportionate amount of her time in the plains. They seemed to calm her, to reassure her, the way no one else had ever been able to. She padded softly through the wildflowers, following the call of a songbird until she came across the unfamliar scent of another cat. And a drawl.
"Hello," she meowed in response. Her padding had stopped, and now she stood frozen, eyes narrowed against the stranger.
"And who might you be?"

"I'm Aelin." she responded with an elegant smile as she turned to face the cat. "And who are you?" she asked, her turquoise eyes scanning the other cat. Didn't seem that much of a threat, although she knew better to judge someone based on their appearance. On how they walked maybe, but not on their appearance. If she judged cats based on their appearances, she wouldn't be friends with half the cats she was no and she would have been caught off guard so many more times.

two enormous black wings "Rose," she meowed in a refine tone after a moment's thought. Deep blue eyes scoured over the stranger, trying to label her as either a threat or not. Her answer remained undisclosed.
She walked a couple pawsteps closer to the other cat, dignified as always, long legs sweeping in a straight line as she walked. Paused about two fox-lengths away from stranger, blue eyes still narrowed.

Aelin smirked. "Yes, I am a threat," she answered the question she knew the other cat was asking herself. She wasn't in the mood to fight, but she always put up a good face if she could. Best not to let others think they could get the better of her, even if there was a tiny chance that they could. She didn't often fight in head on confrontations though, she was more the assassin type.

two enormous black wings "Lovely. Tell me how that works out for you."
Rose was never one for outright challenges or declarations of being dangerous, of being a threat. She simply didn't think that worked out very well in life; it just marked you as an enemy on more cats' lists. Dry and expressionless, her narrowed eyes relaxed, but kept their edge, still on guard.
But she wasn't afraid; no, why should she? Her slender body was calm and still, her tail barely grazing the grass behind her. Relaxed.

Aelin shrugged. Everyone in her old home knew exactly how much of a threat she was, so she had never had to answer that question. "I suppose it would depend on the cat." she said with a slight purr. (Sorry this is short.)

two enormous black wings She tipped her head again, just the slightest hint of curiosity, and narrowed her eyes again.
"I suppose it does."
She sat down elegantly, tail curled primly around her paws, deep blue eyes unwavering on Aelin, or whatever her name was. Untrusting, yes, but confident. Steady. With the hint of a smile on her lips.

Aelin gave a small smile as Rose sat down. She considered for a moment before she, too, sat down. She by no means cared about her posture, but she was sitting. "So, Rose," she said, "Where do you come from?" (This one too. Little muse.)

two enormous black wings Home. A question that cats around here seemed infatuated with. Though she did presume that they, too, were missing home, and perhaps found a sort of peace in finding others who shared their homesickness. That cat, however, was not Rose. She was as glad as she could be to get out of that hellhole.
"Somewhere... far."
Far, not as in distance, but far as in customs, as in behaviour, as in the freedom she was denied when she lived there.
"And you?"
that's fine ((:

Aelin considered the returned question for a moment before saying, "Further away than you've probably heard of," she said without any sorrow in her voice. She had been at her old home long enough and it seemed that her life there was going no where, so so long as she had her friends with her she'd be better off. She'd be fine anywhere, but fine and better were two very different things.

two enormous black wings "If that's what you tell yourself," she meowed smoothly, deep blue eyes flickering over the the mountains that lined the horizon. One day, perhaps, she'll climb that, but one day in the future.
"Who've you met around here, then?" she inquired.

Aelin nodded. "You'd be surprised." she responded in a slightly bored voice. "I haven't really met any cats here, you see, I just got here and it's only my second time visiting."

two enormous black wings "Pity," she meowed. "It's astonishing the type you can get around here. Some, so easy to let their secrets go. Others, not so much..." she frowned, thinking about the ones she weren't able to crack just yet.
"So are you here to stay, or will you be moving on?"

. "I wouldn't have come back if I wasn't planning on staying." Aelin said tiredly. "However, planning is different than doing. It depends on what's changed since I was last here."
