@angryandbitter
Cleo had never been to the canyons, and by what she saw, she wasn't sure if she would ever come back. The sun beat down on her relentlessly, and every step she took her pawsteps burned from the heat. She hadn't expected it really, as she had hoped leaf-fall was arriving. Although, it was a hotter day, even hotter without any shelter.
Cleo moved cautiously, ducking down in surprise as she heard a large bird screech from above. It passed her by, flying out of sight. She let out a sigh of relief, moving forward once again. Apart of her wanted to go back, yet curiousity had gotten the better of her, and she continued on.
Cleo caught the scent of a stranger, her ears peeking. Company would be nice. She sought the smell out, her pace quickening. "Hey!" Cleo called once she caught sight of the feline, bounding to close the gap between them.

Mist usually hated venturing too far from Coal, even if it was needed. Like right now. She needed to hunt for herself and her brother. Even if he hunted for himself as well. She needed to hunt for him too, because he was the only one who didn't throw her kindness back in her face. Which was the only reason she was in this dry, hot, terrible place.
She tried to dart between shadows to make it a little more bearable, but it still felt like the place was a hot oven, trying to bake her alive. It was agonizing really, and she was having trouble picking up a scent of any prey. She should've gone hunting in the luscious plains instead of this horrible place.
Suddenly someone called out to her. Well, maybe not her... But it still caught her attention causing every part of her to stand on end as she suddenly whipped around with a startled expression. Suddenly someone was in her face! Mist recoiled with a hiss. "Who the hell are you?!" She snarled.

Cleo flinched as the feline in front of her basically yelled in her face, her ears flattening softly on her head. "I didn't mean to startle you.." She trailed off softly. "In Cleo." She purred with a thick accent that she still hadn't managed to get rid of. She figured some others might find it hard to understand her, so she was trying hard to improve.
Cleo decided to take a few steps back, not wanting to scare the stranger off. It was clear she was very hostile at the moment, and she wanted to avoid a fight.

Mist kept her gaze of suspicion trained upon the flinching she-cat before her, her entire body tense. With her ears pinned to the side of her head, her furious half-blind glare, and her lashing tail... Mist was the very picture of hostility. She had no intentions of conveying anything even slightly neutral towards this stranger.
A name was revealed as the scarred silver tabby had demanded: Cleo. It sounded disgustingly kittypet-like. She made no efforts to disguise her disgust. She could barely understand the other cat. The stranger known as Cleo seemed to have some brains and backed off a bit.
Mist wasn't necessarily looking for a fight... However, she felt like everyone around her save for Coal was. "What do you want?!"

Cleo sat down in a calm manner, a friendly smile never leaving her face. She had learned that a cat mistrusts ring everyone for no reason probably had the worst past. She would treat everyone as equals- even cats as hostile and rude as the feline in front of her.
When a name wasn't returned, and instead she was questioned, Cleo tucked her tail softly around herself. "I was just hoping to talk." She shrugged, ears flicking.
"I don't know what I've done wrong, but I really am sorry." She tried her best to show her sincereity, looking rather small. She didn't want to appear as a threat, get all in the same she didn't appear meek, or afraid.

Mist decided she hated Cleo's face and that disgusting smile too. She refused to trust anyone. Anyone could hurt her and Coal! Her parents were the furthest from trustworthy, and any cats that saw what was going on turned a blind eye. Ignored her and her brother's suffering. Thus, the world was filled with disgusting cats who weren't trustworthy.
"Well, that's a dumb hope." She scowled at Cleo, refusing to sit down. She was contemplating hitting the annoyingly friendly she-cat, and then going on her way to hunt.
She snarled wordlessly. Then she spoke. "Are you serious?!" She couldn't believe this. She was clearly trying to get Mist to let her guard down, even if it was rather obvious. This was ridiculous! No way was she falling for it!

Cleo had never had to deal with anyone quite like this... she felt as though she were walking on eggshells, and it made her feel rather unnerved.
"...Did I do something wrong?" She asked quietly, not bothering to try and hide her hurt. She had never had a cat who instantly hated her before, and she felt rather guilty. It must have been something she had done, or that she was doing.

Mist's fur bristled. "Your whole existence is wrong." She hissed, giving no mind to the effect her words may have on the cat before her. In her experience, no matter what she said, it never changed anything. So, she might as well spit venom freely.
It was the main outlet for her anger that always spilled over, without no feasible way of release other than screaming her rage and hurt to anyone that could hear.

Cleo chose to try and not let the harsh words hurt her. In a way, everything the cat said was rather... childish. None of her insults were particularly calculated. It was like she was speaking to a stubborn kit.
Of course, she didn't say any of that.
"I think we got off on the wrong paw..." Cleo trailed off, shaking out her fur and clearing her throat. "Can we start over?"
