It was early morning. The sunrise rushed across the sky, marking it as its own with flowing pinks, oranges and reds. Soft chirps echoed in the background as the decorated meadow woke to the sunrays.
Finnick was lying amongst the lush wildflowers, gentle pink and blue blossoms adorning his fur. His bronze pelt shone as the sun kissed him, sea green eyes narrowed against the light. He sighed dreamily.
Things were peaceful.
(sorry, short)

Cleo watched the sunrise lazily, taking note of each and every separate hue of colour. It was beautiful, really. A soft sigh escaped her parted lips, and she found herself sinking into a rather trance like state of peace.
That is, until the breeze shifted, sending the smell of another cat her way. Perhaps the stranger wanted company, too.
Standing, Cleo slowly walked towards the feline, who's bronze pelt stuck out against the pink and blue flowers. He seemed to be enjoying the sunrise, much like she had been.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" She muttered softly, sitting down a fox length away.

Sea green eyes flirtatious, he smiled at the she-cat who approached him.
"I can think of a few things more beautiful," he meowed, voice purred with a soft smirk, tipping his head back just a bit to expose all of his fur to the dawn light, drenching his pelt in sunshine. Most of the wildcats around here didn't respond well to his charms, but he was determined to find one who did. Perhaps this one will be that one.
"Where are you from, gorgeous?" he spoke to the she-cat without taking his gaze from the sky.

Cleo's eyes widened slightly at the flirtatious tone in the toms voice, and she felt her cheeks grow heared. She had never been treated like this before, and she couldn't quite tell if she enjoyed it or not.
She didn't respond to his first statement, but at the next one she swallowed, as if she was uncomfortable. "Far off, to the west." It was a rather vague answer.
"You can call me Cleo, unless you prefer the name gorgeous." She grinned, trying to flirt back. It was certainly new to her, but she found it... Fun.

A grin played at Finnick's lips at how the she-cat didn't scathingly put him down like the other wildcats he's met around here. He enjoyed it.
"I'm not from around here either. My home is... far away, by the sea."
His ocean-green eyes blinked shut for a second, and inhaled, the smell of fresh sea salt still clinging to his pelt. He certainly missed it. If he tried hard enough, he could practically feel the currents tumbling over him.
"Cleo's a very nice name. It suits you."

"The sea?" Cleo's eyes went wide with a childlike interest, and she scooted closer in excitement. "What was it like?" She questioned, basically pleading him to explain. She had never been, but her parents had talked about it.
"Thanks. Er, do I get to know your name?" She asked softly, almost carefully. She knew that some cats didn't like giving out their names.

"Finnick," Finnick supplied his name breezily,
"The sea... the sea is everything to me," he meowed, allowing his flirty act a moment of rest. "It raised me, really. I wasn't around other cats as a kitten; just my parents. All I remember from those days are the glowing blue ocean, and all of my friends from the sea."
He's shared the water with sea turtles, glimmering tropical fish, even a bloom of jellyfish once in his life. Though the communication barrier lay in between them, he respected them, and they respected him. He missed it.
"The ocean is gorgeous. During the day, the sun shines atop of the water, bluer than anything you've ever seen before. And at night, the stars that stretch over the sea - it's more amazing than anything you'll ever see in your life."

Cleo blinked dreamily at the thought of the sea. It sounded beautiful. "I wish I could see it." She muttered, keeping her gaze on the sky, which was slowly losing its bright colours.
"If you loved it so much, how come you're not there now?" Cleo questioned softly, not realizing just how damaging the question could be. Cats around here all had a rough past, she had come to realize, yet it still slipped her mind that she had to ask her questions with care.

Finnick hesitated, glancing over at the she-cat warily, though the caution didn't show in his eyes, instead disguising itself as amusement. As carefree as he seemed on the outside, he was honestly quite guarded on the inside. But he hated to let that out to outsiders, so he was left only with the option to answer.
"Not much good happening over there when I left. I don't remember much of it, though. My mother woke me one morning, and she snatched me up by the scruff and ran."
He turned back to the she-cat, green eyes still alight and sparkling, grin still intact. "And you?"

Gimmick seemed perfectly fine, though she didn't let that fool her. Cats around here were closed off- even the ones who seemed like open books.
"Ever think of going back?" She questioned, dropping down slowly onto her stomach, tucking her paws neatly under her chest.
As the question was returned, Cleo frowned. "There wasn't anyone left for me." She shrugged, not bothering to hide her emotions.

I'm sorry this is so late!!
Finnick's eyebrows raised ever so slightly at the obvious frown and emotions of the she-cat. He'd never actually met a cat so open, so easy to read. All in all, it confused him.
"Maybe one day, if I find what I'm looking for here."
What exactly was he looking for? Honestly, he had no idea. His mother gave his life for him to escape out here, with the wide expanses of fields and meadows, wildflowers beneath him every step he took. No explanation, no task for him - and he wasn't going to leave until he found out why.

Cleo tilted her head in confusion, turning away from the sky to look at his face for answers. "Well, what are you looking for? I could help, I'm very good at finding things." Cleo beamed, her expression screaming naivety. Cleo wasn't exactly a good finder, more like a good stumble-upon-things-often type. But, if she could, she would love to help.
