Abbie walked through the plains, her new home, her eyes carefully watching out for threats. Her tail waving behind her to give her enough of a warning to turn and prepare to fight if anyone tried to sneak up behind her. She honestly didn't have to put any effort into these actions, as she had to use them 24/7 anyway. If you're deaf you live a life different than most others. It's what you do. Of course, unlike most deaf cats now days, she had bothered to learn to lip read and speak. She wasn't about to let others think she had some sort of disadvantage just because she was different.

Some words were harder, but she had practiced introductions and most things in a typical first conversation to not give away her condition.
