Restless Morning {p--Frost}

[Birchkit]

So, timeline wise Frostpaw, I'd set the thread with Breezekit/Frostkit/Birchkit/anyone else to be the first thread, with normal Birchkit. Then this one, with normal Birchkit again. But do you think he could also have a thread with Amberflash?? I already posted on Amber's bio explaining, haha xD Then anything after that gets into Bir's real reason for existing, huehuehue.....

The sun hadn't risen yet, but Birchkit was restless. He shook and kicked in his sleep, rolling back and forth and likely disturbing his littermates around him. Still, the gray-and-white tomkit could not fall back asleep, no matter what he did! His mind was awake, although he only was running on a few hours of sleep, since he had stayed up late (probably against Amberflash's will) with his siblings giggling and coming up with stories with one another. Looks like that had backfired on him.

Finally, after Birchkit had shaken quite enough, he decided to just get up. Maybe if he walked around a bit, he'd feel tired again? Birchkit didn't know, but he might as well try. So he stood up, and stomped on each of his littermate's pelts as she tried to get out of the nest. And when he succeeded, he let out a huge sigh of relief, and went scampering over to the entrance to the nursery.

The sun hadn't risen yet, but the sky seemed lighter. Was it close to dawn? Birchkit didn't know, but he hoped so. Then he wouldn't be awake, all alone, in the scary darkness. The cicadas were loud, and they scared him a little bit. But if he went back to his nest, he'd just end up waking everyone else up, if they weren't already.

Birchkit whined, lowering his head in sadness. He didn't like being alone like this. Even though... Birchkit guessed he had CloudClan. His amber eyes rose to scan Silverpelt, but there was no signal from his ancestors that they were watching him. But they were, right? Right?

Frostkit seemed to have problems going to sleep, and then staying asleep. She always woke up early and it sucked! When she woke up, no one was around and wanted to play. Apparently it was rude to poke your siblings awake when it was sleepytime for everyone except for Frostkit. She hoped when she got big enough, she'd get a mentor who was an earlybird like her! That sounded amazing.

She was kind of just laying down on her side in her nest. She wasn't sure what else to do, until it was wakey time for everyone else too. She was simply laying there when suddenly someone stepped on her! She let out a cry of surprise and pain, as she suddenly jerked up to a sitting position and looked around. She immediately saw Birchkit by the entrance to the nursery. A bit miffed at having been so rudely stepped on, she stomped out of the nest and over to Birchkit.

"Hey! You shouldn't step on people!" She squeaked, though she did her best to be quiet. She didn't want to wake everyone else up, because she wasn't mean or anything.

Birchkit whirled his head around when he heard Frostkit's voice, having been so lost in thoughts about Silverpelt that he hadn't heard his sister get up. And by what she said, it seemed it was his fault. He should have been more careful getting out of his nest, but with so many littermates, how could he have gotten out without stepping on someone's tail?

"Sorry, Frostkit." he apologized quietly as well, as Birchkit took note of the fact that they shouldn't awaken anyone else. After a few moments of quiet, where maybe Frostkit would reply or not, Birchkit spoke again. But his amber eyes had rose to the sky again. "Do you know about CloudClan?" he asked softly.

Frostkit huffed, though she seemed satisfied by Birchkit's apology. "As long as you try not to do it again." She whispered back. Then she took a seat, sitting next to her brother. She looked to him and blinked.

"Huh? Uh, yeah... Mom said something about Cloudclan. Um... I don't remember so well, but something about ghosts? You should ask Mom. I wasn't really paying attention..." She admitted.

Birchkit was glad that she wasn't super mad at him, and especially that Frostkit wasn't going back to bed. He kind of was hoping she would stay up with him, at least for a little bit. He didn't like the darkness, even if CloudClan was apparently watching him from above.

Frostkit said she didn't remember too much about CloudClan. And Birchkit understood that. Just the morning before, he didn't know the first thing about his ancestors. But now, he did. "I... did ask Mommy." he admitted slowly, blinking back at his sister. "Just yesterday. I guess their our ancestors. And they watch over us." He didn't go into too many details, but Amberflash definitely was better at explaining this stuff than he was, so Birchkit just dropped it there.

"When do you think Oceanstar will make us apprentices?" he decided to ask now.

Frostkit shrugged. "Yeah. That's what she told me too. I wonder if they're watching us all the time? Like when we make dirt and stuff." She said, not seeing how inappropriate and weird her statement was. She didn't doubt that Cloudclan was real, she just didn't see the hype as much as some others did.

She shrugged. "Whenever we're old enough I guess. I don't feel like we should be in a rush, though. I mean, being apprentices means we gotta do all sorts of boring work and stuff, right? Plus that whole... Hold up the responsibility of caring for the clan. Sounds like heavy stuff to me."

Birchkit sent his sister a baffled, almost horrified look. He hadn't thought about that. Plus, how could Frostkit even?! CloudClan were great warriors, so they wouldn't spy on the gross activities of the living! That was just-- that was just weird.

The gray-and-white tomkit stuck his tongue out and shook his head rapidly. "Ew! They wouldn't do that!" he defended.

Although Birchkit couldn't deny he'd feel a little more awkward in the dirtplace....

He was surprised to learn that Frostkit wasn't super excited to become an apprentice. And she had good points to explain herself. The work would be hard, and the responsibility wouldn't be very easy to uphold. But.... "Do you not want to be an apprentice?" he asked.

Frostkit blinked at Birchkit's horrified look. Had he... Not thought of that? That was weird. Seemed obvious to the white-furred she-cat. She was guessing that the idea was pretty weird to her brother, though he seemed to be acting a bit over the top.

Then she tilted her head again. "Why not? If they're supposedly always watching over us, that includes during the weird times too, right?" She reasoned.

She pawed at the ground. ".... I dunno. It's a thing that's going to happen whether we like it or not. I'm just going to enjoy being a kit while I can. I guess I'll figure it out later." She shrugged. "I think we're supposed to get smarter as we get older? Maybe future six moons old me will know what to do."
