I've wasted time, I've wasted breath
Things had been calm for moons upon moons. Calli had run into other cats ever now and then, but she felt so restless. The forest was alive with animals and she had been content for a while, but after traveling all her life she had grown restless. She would have left, but she had found her brothers here and there was something quaint about forest life. She wasn't quite ready to leave, no matter how much she wanted to see new places and meet new people.
This one particular night was still. Calli hadn't been able to sleep, so she decided to go on a walk. It had been a while since she'd been to the Twoleg place, so she decided to drop by for a visit. Now she walked through the paved roading, the cement an odd, but welcome feeling against her paws. The streets were silent. All the lights from the two-leg place seemed to be off.
Calli didn't expect to see anyone, really. Instead, her mind wandered to the cold, dark places she usually avoided. Her typical smile and gentle mask vanished as she slipped into thoughts. Maybe it was time to leave. She didn't even know what people thought of her anymore. She wasn't helping anyone anymore as she had in the past. She wasn't doing much of anything.
An owl hooted somewhere in the distance and Calli jumped, her gaze traveling around the streets. She had grown restless and paranoid. Those were two traits she'd tried to avoid for a long time. She sighed and continued walking. Perhaps it was time for her to get back and try to get to sleep. She glanced around, trying to get a hold on where she was. She was pretty sure she had gotten lost as she was thinking. "Hello? I don't suppose anyone is there?" she sighed, turning around to walk in the opposite direction. She had theoretically been going straight, and as soon as she got out of the two-leg place, she'd be able to find her way back.
