I know what you're thinking, OHNOES, the deputy is invading the nursery too?! AWW..

Well, something hit me when I was watching a movie - which shall not be named. not because it's bad, but because i don't want to admit I was watching something so cheesy. hehe -

But, most of the reasons why we have such terrible apprentices is because they spammed through their kit .. posts, and didn't learn to become better. Now, this isn't something bad. But I think, to fully realize your character later makes it harder. Which is why I have to make this post in the nursery. Of course, I think it'd be important for most people to read it too.

I hope this will help all of you to make better posts with your characters.

name, gender, age-kit [should be], color, 3 words describing the personality, 3 words about what they look like.

Alright, good.
Name, gender, age-kit, should be straight forward.

But the looks .. I prefer to be unique. Like others have made posts about, there was a previous thread in the general board about different cat breeds [link].

You should be looking for a picture for that cat, too, I'm assuming? Well, take a look at this thread too. hehe.

Now, let's take a look at those 3 words you found for your personality. Mainly, it should be about your cat. I hope blind and weak aren't two of the three. But for more on this, please read [link]

you should.. i mean, I usually do. After I make a character, I really want to rp. Well, you've gone far, but I don't think it's QUITE time yet.

Just one more thing to do ..
And that's make a sample post. Just for yourself to get a feel for this character. Now, keep all three + of those words in mind when you are posting.

If your cat is partially blind [ please keep these guys limited. if you wish for a special cat, please pm darkstar/wildstar/me ], then describe how they can feel through their paws, how they can hear the pants and breaths of those around them, etc.

Am I making sense here? I hope so.

Not every person is literate. It takes some skill. I can't lie about that.

When I started, I rped with one full sentence. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT . ME , of all people, RPED with ONE SENTENCE. OHOH, wutnow?!

anyways, back to our serious face. yeah, I do have a mask on to keep me from spilling insane comments. hehe. Let's just say, roleplaying is like a collaborative story from different points of views. For some stories, people write from the same point of view, but different people merely continue the long story. I took part in one of those before, actually. It was quite the experience. hehe .

Do you know what I'm trying to get at? Details Details Details.

Ok, so suppose you wanted to say ' Squirrelkit took a step out of the nursery. '

You could change it to ...

' Squirrelkit let out a brief cough as her paw took it's first step out of the nursery, the strange scents building up within her sensitive nose. She stared around, amazed by the foreign surroundings. Having been raised within the nursery since her birth, her first step away from the warm feeding mother, she felt strange. This was no longer the safe, enclosed nursery with the flat ground. This was the real world with the endless ground and the giant cats who didn't all carry the soft side of a mother. This was the real world .'

Big difference? I think so. Nownow, don't panic. You don't get there within ONE day, but maybe a year. After a few weeks, you should start seeing the difference. But it isn't all about the practice, you have to believe in yourself, and you have to be able to encourage yourself to write more than one line. If you only write one line for the rest of your time, you're never going to improve.

I hope this isn't the case.
