For the novice spiritual warrior, meditation can be a challenge greater than defeating a trained army, single handedly. Some view it as a difficult task and end up over thinking it. But meditation is much easier than one might think.
At first, it's hard.
You're not quite sure if you were relaxed enough. You don't know if you imagined what happened in your mind, if you forced it to come to you, or if it really did 'happen'. But once you get past these initial questions, you can let your mind go. The trick is to not think, but to feel. I can gaurentee that the first few times you meditate, you may not have accurate results. It may be far from relaxing, but rather, a stressful experience. But once you master meditation, it gets easier...and easier...and easier.
Because you cannot wait around for you spirit animals to bight you on the butt in your dreams, you have to meditate if you ever want to make it into your spirit world. Since it's the first one or two trials of meditation that seem to be problematic for many of you, I will share some tips on how to make meditating easier.

1) Listen to some Native American or African drumming.
While you could probably listen to any peaceful music that consists of mainly precussion, I find that these two types of drumming are best. I do have a song that I typically listen to when I meditate, but because of laziness, I am not going to post it. Find a song that you will be able to meditate to by going on YouTube and searching, "Native American drumming". If you meditate whilst listening to the drumming, focus on the rythem. Use the music as a tool to keep your mind from thinking other thoughts or forcing things to come to mind. Let the puding of the drums numb your mind. Feel the pounding of the drums pound YOUR mind.
2) Light some scented candles, or use scented oils.
Similar to using music as a tool, you can stimulate your smelling scences with a calming fragence to focus on. With thoughts of the smell on your mind, it will not wander, and it will allow you to breathe more deeply, thus, allowing you to meditate more easily.
3) Try a different position.
When most people think of meditation, they think of people sitting cross legged, their forearms resting on their theighs, palms facing up, fingers in 'O' shape, and sitting straight up saying "oooooooome". Minus the ooooome, this is a common meditation position, but just because it is mainstream does not mean it's right for you. While sitting in an arm chair, standing up, leaning against a wall, and some strange prezel position may not be good alternatives, you can try meditating in a different stance. Try laying down on your back, arms at your sides, palms facing up. That psotion works best for me. Just keep in mind, it it not a good idea to be suoer comfortable. The position you're in just be a relaxing one, but it should be so comfy that you fall asleep.
