No, not really. But I felt like more people would read this if they saw "PSA" as the title. If you don't know what PSA means, please look it up.
Now, onto my little announcement. Recently I've discovered a great interest in random writing prompts. It may or may not be caused by a thing on Reddit. Either way, I find myself enjoying the little stories people post, and today I thought "Hey, wait, why don't I do that on VWW?" I mean, this is a site purely relying on writing, and I'm sure many/most of you would like to write about things other than cats, wolves, or the rare fox.
Sssooo, I'm starting a Weekly Writing Prompt (new names being created). It'll be located in the Writing Club as a stickied thread every Friday, Monday, or Wednesday. Not sure which I'll be going with. This week it'll be Wednesday, so I can start tomorrow while I still have some hype.
How will it work? Pretty simply. I'll make a thread with a very short prompt. It could literally be "Write about a superhero who just lost his powers." You could write a few short sentences, or an entire story. The Weekly Writing Prompt isn't a contest, or a test to see how well people write, it's an escape from having to role-play. It's exactly what the Writing Club is all about, which is why I'm putting it there in the first place. But I may not just give you a prompt. I may link an image and tell you to write about what you think is happening within said image, or the world it takes place in.
All are invited. This thread is for those of you who are only just beginning to for your own creative writing styles, and for those of you that have been writing since you first learned how to hold a pencil. The threads themselves are a place for both posting your story, but also giving constructive criticism to others. If you post with no contribution (either a story or criticism) your post will be removed, and if need be, will be treated like spam.
I'd also like to note that this is, in no way, a contest. There will be no prizes, no winners, no losers. If you think your post will win you some sort of plot, or title, then please don't post. This activity is a fun way for people to let their imaginations run free, not for you to create a competition.
If this interests you, make sure to look in the Writing Club tomorrow! The thread will stay open until the next prompt is created the following week. The current Weekly Writing Prompt mmaaayy be stickied to help users find them, but I don't really know yet.
See you guys there~
