Everything is so blurry. My head aches; I must have hit it on something. What's going on? Why- ow! I can't open my eyes! Wait.. I think I remember.. I was.. there was a ship.. and.. other people. Then water.. so much.. my throat.. Oh. I remember. The shipwreck. The people. The selections. I've never really trusted this.. prize. But, I wanted time away from my home country. But where are we? I open my eyes, and blink, this time expecting the brightness. Sitting up, I wince. I must have hit my head hard. I'm lucky I made it to shore without drowning, because with this concussion, I would have if I was passed out in the water. Blinking a few more times, I can start to focus my vision. To my right is three other people. There were several on the ship, but I'm not sure how many exactly. With luck, there might be more people floating to shore later on. Still sitting, I search my surroundings. There's a lot of.. tropical.. ness. The sand is soft and a creamy white, and the sky is blue, a single wispy cloud on the horizon. The ocean is gorgeous. A pearly green-blue-turquoise all bundled into one liquid. It smells like the Caribbean, and looks like it, or maybe Hawaii, but it's not. I can tell. There's no other people besides us survivors. I turn back to the others and hope with all of me that they are alive, even just one, even a boy. I don't care. It might be weird between us, but.. ugh, that's not the point. Just.. I hop their alive. Are they?

Abel woke up before Alex. He didn't understand what was happening at first. All he knew was that his head hurt like crazy. He slowly opened his eyes and found the glaring sun beating down on him. Where was he? Oh that prize thing. Was he still on the ship? Why was he outside? Abel propped himself up on his elbow and realized that he wasn't on the boat, but rather he was on a beach. Other people were lying around him. Then it all came back to him. There was a shipwreck. In seconds Abel had scrambled to his feet and was calling his sister's name.
"Alexis! Alex are you okay? Please, Alex, answer me!" He shouted along the beach.
Abel finally saw the bright red hair that was custom in his family. He sprinted towards his sister, sidestepping all of the other bodies in the way. Whether they were alive or not his sister was more important to him. Finally he got to her and scooped her into his arms. He shook her a little, praying that she would just wake up.
When Alex did wake up she was a little more than confused. Why was here brother so freaked out? "Dude calm down. Put me down as well." She mumbled with a raised eyebrow. Her green eyes looked around and then she jumped out of his arms and stood up. "What the hell happened Abel? The shipwreck! Oh, god, we were in a shipwreck." Alexis hugged her older brother as she tried to calm down.
Abel took a deep breath and looked around once more. He saw a girl standing up. She was alive at least. Maybe he should go talk to her. Abel decided against it for now and checked his pockets instead. He had his pocket knife on him. When he looked at Alexis he saw that she had her backpack on still, even if it was ripped. "Alex what's in your backpack?"
Alexis let go of her older brother and took it off. As she did that a can of food fell out. She laughed and dropped back to the ground. She pulled out a sleeping back and with it came a few more cans of food. Five altogether. "We have food. We aren't going to die." Alexis laughed again. She stopped when she realized again that she wouldn't be laughing if they hadn't crashed the ship. She sighed and sat down. Abel settled in beside her.

Shuffling and voices arouse my attention to the farther side of the beach. The two embrace - a female and a male, and siblings by the looks of it. During this "prize" act, thing, we were selected out of our age group; thirteen to eighteen; so there would be no parents. The male looks at me, his red hair bright from where I stand with a sun-burned face - we must have been here several hours - and a protective glare I'm sure I see. I wave, but either he ignores me or doesn't react. They sit down and I frown. Well, more than I was. A can falls out, and I start towards them. What harm in there is saying hello? After all, we may be here for a while, and we should help each other out if we're going to stay here. As I near, I hold my hands out. We weren't searched before boarding the ship, and although I have nothing that could harm him, unless a few bandages is dangerous, I want them to know that. "Hey, I didn't come over for food, so don't worry about it." I bite my lip. I can tell this won't go well. "I mean, yeah, it looks great, but uh, you guys can help yourself." I've never been great around strangers. However, I've been told I have a kind of.. vibe, about my ways, that makes me "easy to follow," according to my mother. How I miss her and my father. "My name's Elizabeth. But, call me Beth. I know you may not want to share your name with me, and I respect that, it's just," I take a glance around. "I have this sinking feeling we aren't getting rescued anytime soon."

The siblings weren't very happy with being approached. Alexis gathered up the things she had taken out and pulled them back into her bag and Abel got a little closer to his sister, his protective nature making him wary of the girl. Alex sighed as the cans kept falling out of the ripped bottom. She finally found a pouch in the backpack that wasn't ripped and fit them all in there. The sleeping bag was big enough that it didn't fall out so she was fine with that. Alex shouldered the backpack finally and glared up at the girl with her brother.
Abel stood up as the girl started talking. His sister stood up with him, but stayed behind him. The lady was so awkward. She kept talking and Alex raised an eyebrow. Then she finished and the two siblings looked at each other. "Nice choice of words. Especially since out ship sank." Abel growled. "We don't expect to share either."
Alex suddenly felt a strong pain in her arm that she hadn't felt before. Maybe adrenaline had kept the pain at bay, but now it was coming to her full force. Alexis felt her arm and when he pulled it away it was covered in blood. Her arm had been cut somehow, probably during the wreck. Alex tapped Abel on the shoulder and he turned lowed down a little so that she could speak to him. "My arm is bleeding. We need to find something to patch it up." She whispered to him. Alex was careful not to raise her voice too much. She didn't want the other girl to hear.

I nod because they're right. "Well, if you need anything, let me know. I'd be happy to help," I reply, a glimpse of blood in my eye although I say nothing about it. I have a bit of medical experience with my dad being - er, was, - a doctor, and I could patch a wound and bend a break with ease. But these two seem intent on being alone, and although I'm good with comebacks and could easily make one to snap back, I don't, and let them have the chance at seeking help. I step away and head toward the trees, taking a seat on a large driftwood log. Out of boredom, I pull out the two fresh bandages, sealed in a small plastic lunch sack, and begin turning the package over and over in my hands, wondering when I'll be using them to treat a wound, because if any other survivors are alive, it would be impossible to find that none of them have injuries.

Alex watched her brother try to think without completely freaking out. He wasn't usually so calm when it came to her getting hurt, but he didn't want to make a bad impression it seemed. So he looked around as if observing the place while she held her arm. Abel saw the trees. Vines and large leaves. The leaves would work as a type of bandage and the vines would tie it off. Maybe he could even find some moss. Abel took Alexis' good arm and pulled her over to the treeline.
He sat her down and pulled down a vine. He picked a few leaves and set about making some kind of bandage to tie around his little sister's bleeding arm. "Is that even going to work? Usually when something like this happens we have actual medical supplies, not leaves and sand and vines." Alex mumbled. She was still holding her arm. She tried to remember what she had learned in biology. The things like fingers and toes were the last things to get blood so if she lost enough of it they might stop working. Was that right? Alex couldn't remember right now.
Abel finally finished the little bandage. He tied two vines above and below the wound, not too tight, but tight enough, that's something he had remembered. The leaves were between the vines and should act like a covering to help prevent infection. At least that was what he was hoping. "How does that feel?" He asked. He hoped it wasn't too tight. He didn't want to hurt her after all. Alex moved her arm a little and nodded. "It feels fine." She murmured. The reality of what had happened was hitting her. She pulled her knees up to her chest and buried her face in them. Abel sat down beside her and draped an arm over her. Then they sat in silence, just taking in what had happened to them.

I barely do either. My mom works at a vet clinic, so that's where I'm getting this Frowning, I watch as the two other survivors work on fixing a wound. Although I know it's their best option right now, using leaves could be dangerous. I consider telling them I could help out, then say it's best to clean the wound first, in case there's salt from the water in it, but I don't. They'll approach me if they want. Sliding off the rock and angered at the tension in my head, leading me to believe I pinched a nerve as well as ended up with a concussion, I stuff the two bandages back into my thin jacket. I take a glance down at my black leggings and purple t-shirt. It's fairly intact, but maybe I could use the jacket - so silvery in the sunlight - to fuel a fire. Then fire leads my mind to bodies. Burn, bury, or float? We - er, I, can't leave them here to rot or get eaten by some wild animals. I think burning them is the best. I'll take the things of use they have then build a fire. It will take a while, but it needs to be done. So, shuffling down the beach, I head to the nearest body, a pale blond with a long pink skirt and a light blue shirt. Grimacing, I kneel down beside her and press my fingers to her throat. Dead. I sigh and snap off the long, thin silver chain that hangs around her neck. If could come in handy for trapping or something. That's all that seems she has of use. There's no pockets and or jewelry, so I ensure once again her eyes are closed. I'll begin the line-up of bodies here, but instead of heading right for the next, I sit and examine her. Her face frozen in slight pain and confusion, gashes along her face and arms, matted hair, and eighteen by the looks of it. She might have been beautiful once, but now she's dead.

Abel watched as the girl, Beth, walks over to a body. Abel assumes they are no longer a person and are infact dead. She takes something from them. He scoffs a little, but what she is doing makes sense. "Hey Alex just stay here and shout if you need anything, I'm going to help the girl do whatever with the bodies. That isn't something somebody should do alone." Alex just nodded into her legs without looking up. Abel sighed, but stood up. He patted her head and then walked over to the girl.
"What do you want me to do?" He asked. Abel crossed his arms as he looked around at the beach. There had to be at least a hundred people on the beach. There was no way they would get to them all, but hey even if they gave a few of them a proper send away then it might make them feel better. He might as well help Beth. Make a good impression, who knew how long they would be stuck together, he couldn't just hang out with his sister. "I'm sorry we were so rude. It's just been really hard. I'm Abel and that other girl was my sister Alexis." He didn't hold out his hand or anything, nor did he try to make eye contact, but at least he was trying. It was more than he usually did.

|LOL|
I sniff slightly and swat at the one fly that tries to climb all over my face. When it retreats, I stuff the chain in my pocket and look for another body to work on. A voice says something nearby and I jerk my head up. It's the boy from earlier. I want to sneer as he keeps talking, seeming to avoid my eye contact. Instead, I turn back to the beach, accepting his apology with a curt nod. "It's alright," I say when he finishes. "I know what you mean. I guess it would help if you could get a ton of wood. I think it will be best and easiest to burn them. There has to be gas or something nearby, and I can't leave 'em here to rot or send them off on a raft to rot somewhere else. Besides, we could use that raft for our own purposes." Realizing I'm rambling, I shut up, figuring Abel probably wants to slap me. Shrugging, I stand. "I can work on the bodies, or you can help also instead of getting wood. I'm looking for anything that could be of use, then I'm going to line all the bodies up here. It's up to you."

Collecting wood. He could collect wood easily. Abel nodded, but then she mentioned how he could help her as well. He thought for a second. This could be a chance to get Alexis a friend... maybe. Abel sighed. "I'll get Alex to help you. I'll go collect some wood. I'll get some varying sizes too. We could use the larger ones to make a shelter of some sort." Abel sighed and walked back over to his sister. He felt like he was giving her the hard job and getting away with the easy one, but with her arm, even moving a body would be hard, moving pieces of wood would be even harder. He'd make it up to her somehow.
Abel knelt down next to Alex. "Hey wanna' line up bodies on the beach?" He tried to sound funny, but it didn't really work. He sighed and pulled her to her feet. Alex groaned, but didn't resist. "No I don't want to line up bodies on the beach." She looked over at Beth. "Let me guess. I need to make friends? Lay off we were in a shipwreck. Plus she's way older than I am." Alex tried to sit back down, but Abel pulled her up again by her good arm. "Just help her." Abel growled. Alex sighed, but did as she was told and walked over to a body on the beach.
Abel walked into the jungle to find some wood. Alex looked down at the body. It was a guy. About her age with brown hair. He had a shard of something going straight through his chest. It was almost comical. Alex bent down and went through his pockets. He didn't have anything on him that was important. Alex grabbed his arm and dragged him through the sand over to the other body. She let his arm flop back into the sand. "This is what you wanted, yeah?" Alex asked. She would do more as per her brother's wishes, but she didn't have to be happy about it.

"Thanks," I reply, starting toward another female. Taking the small black hairband and the yarn bracelet that was on the less-than-thirteen year-old, I think to myself, lost in my own world. Are we the only ones? We can't be.. there's no way. But if we are, how am I gonna live with this guy. He's kind of a jerk. But, who knows? His sister might be nice? Wait, what if their both ex-cons, or something, and were the ones that bombed the ship, or whatever? No, they would have killed me already and had a way off the island. The question by a female a few inches shorter than me draws her out of my own thoughts and back into the reality where I have just lifted the puny body and lay it beside the other female. "Yeah," I breath. "Exactly. Thanks." I see a glimpse of blood again and frown. It's covered by leaves, whatever injury it is, but now's my chance. "You injured?" I ask. "I can take a look at it, if you like."
