The first thing that a kit would usually see, smell, and hear is their mother, and that was the scenario that Crevicekit had. Even though the father remained unknown, just having a name was all Crevicekit really wanted. Sure, most kits grew up not knowing who their father was, just the mother. Now that she was two moons old, Crevicekit was more confident in herself, and she was proud of herself. Even though her mother usually tended to the rest of the kits, a mother should always have time for their own biological kittens, right? "Hi Spiderleaf!" The kitten hopped to her mother's side, smiling. She wanted to grow big like her mother, and it was only a matter of moons when that would be possible. "How can you stay in the nursery for so long? I would love to go exploring soon!" She sat down, staring at the queen, trying to figure out the whole secret to patience and dedication her mother obviously had.

The queen's head tilted down to smile at one of her older she-kit's Crevicekit, as the feline approached. Though she was ageing fast, it was refreshing to look upon a kit with so much left to learn, as it always was as Spiderleaf watched the litters come and go. Being stuck in the nursery herself wasn't so bad, and every now and then she even received an apprentice when Cloverstar was desperate, but the queen was still trapped one way or another. It was a cage of her own making however, and one she immensely enjoyed filing her time away in.
"Hello there child," the black and white she-cat purred in response to Crevicekit's cheery greeting. The shaded brown she-cat's words stole upon Spiderleaf's previous thoughts, and refreshed by her own drawn conclusions, she smiled. "I have something worth staying here for, but there is much still that calls to you outside these walls. If the urge to explore takes you, never turn your back on it," she advised with a low voice, as if imparting some great wisdom. In truth, they were merely the same words her own mother had said to her when she was young, and Spiderleaf had never regretted hearing them.
"Now my dear, where exactly would you explore?"

Crevicekit smiled, hearing her mother's voice once again. There was something really special about Spiderleaf's voice - probably because it was the voice she kept hearing for moons, so it was a voice that Crevicekit knew she should always remember. The she-kit tilted her head while listening to the queen tried to answer her question. It was a large headache to her to take in, but she was able to digest it. ' Spiderleaf is a queen so she stays in here, but I have to go out and explore outside.' Or at least that was what she understood from her mother's wise words. So Spiderleaf approved of her desire to explore! Crevicekit then blinked, not knowing how to answer her mother's question. Where? She had no idea, so she began to think about nursery tales that she often heard other kits gossiping about. "I want to explore Cloverstar's den. I wonder if Cloudclan is hiding in there." she started, not knowing that just because her leader received blessing did not mean that their ancestors were in fact living in her den. "Or maybe to the border lines with one of the clans! I would love to see their cats too!" She then thought about the kit named Dogkit, and really did not want to meet him - at all. "But I promise to never go near Deathclan. When I am bigger, I promise to guard the nursery for you Spiderleaf." So it was settled. Crevicekit would watch over the nursery when needed.

She wasn't entirely sure her words had made sense, but Crevicekit seemed to pick up on her meaning. That was all Spiderleaf could hope for really. Unconsciously a proud smile flickered across her face. It was heartening for her to see such life in creatures so young, in particular when they reminded her of herself and her childhood. Well no, her childhood had been one she strived to never re-create in the raising of her kits, so if Crevicekit never became like her she would be proud.
The black and white she-cat couldn't contain a roll of amused purring at Crevicekit's declaration. Searching for Cloudclan in Cloverstar's den? Well, Cloverstar was young and she rarely had anyone to rely on, perhaps it wasn't so odd to think she'd keep a Cloudclan spirit trapped in her den. The imagined scene brought another purr to her throat, which turned to a quiet giggle. No, the thought alone was absurd. "Cloudclan? What would you do if you found a Cloudclan spirit?" She asked, voice still warm and tingling with laughter.
There was the slightest heat of anger in Spiderleaf's chest as Crevicekit mentioned Deathclan. Of course it had always been warned of kits that if they were naughty Deathclan would come and steal them away, but not that it had more or less come true, there was far too much weight on the threats. Not only that, if that fear paralyzed any of her children, or any kits, Spiderleaf wouldn't be able to help feeling at least a bit responsible.
"You will be my brave little warrior and protect me, will you? To do that, you need to make sure you grow big and strong, so that you can protect everyone."
