| Semi-private for Holly. PM me if you want to join in. |Vex was a rather unusual cat. Since it was somewhat warm that morning and the prey was running about, most cats would've been out hunting. But nope - the grey tabby was down by the now-unfrozen river, padding around in the shallow water near the bank. She was looking for shiny stones and gems that might've washed up. The peasant was so enthralled in this task that she didn't notice another cat approaching.

"Boo!" I meowed cheerfully. I popped out from a bush, dead leaves rested on my head and I shook myself violently, the dead foliage flying away with the light breeze. I trotted towards the figure in front of the river. "I like dead fish as much as the next guy, but they don't exactly make the healthiest meal."
I waved my tail curiously and flitted around just behind the she-cat. "Unless you're looking for a place to hide a body." I gave a little wink. "I'm kidding, please don't tell me you're lugging one around."

The bobtailed female let out a startled hiss, jumped, and immediately slipped sideways. She fell into the cold water with a loud splash. Fantastic. Vex hadn't minded having wet paws, but getting her entire pelt soaked hadn't been on her list of things to do that day.
She straightened up and dragged herself out of the river indignantly. "Did you really need to do that?" questioned the peasant in a bitter tone. "I love baths about as much as the next cat." Which was to say, not at all.
"I might be lugging one around after this…"

"What? I was only being friendly. Half the cats around here would have pushed you in. It's not like the aura of my handsomeness shoved you... or did it?" I let out a chuckle and wrapped my tail around my paws. I blinked innocently, trying to seem as if I didn't know what the word "wrong" meant." "Hey, you can lug me around any time you want." I gave another wink and straightened out my shoulders. "So, tell me, what exactly are you looking for? It takes dead bodies a while to hit shore depending on where they were dropped off. Do you have an estimation of where?"

Vex would've bristled if her fur wasn't completely weighed down by water. She angrily shook it out, making every effort to scatter droplets in Holly's general direction. "Oh, goody, another cat who doesn't have anything better to do than flirt. That isn't going to get you very far." Well, it might've… if the peasant had ever been vaguely interested in romance. But she wasn't.
"If you must know, I was looking for shiny things," stated the grey female with a somewhat exasperated sigh. She could go on about her little hoard of gems and related objects for ages - but not to a total stranger.

I giggled as cold water droplets splattered against my coat, not too bothered by the little amount of the liquid. "I mean I could always take you on a romantic date, but that'd probably only end in you trying to bite me head off for dragging you somewhere." I gave a little shoulder shrug and a mock sad frown. "What is a poor, handsomely cursed guy like me to do?"
I stifled a laugh at her reasoning. "I know of one thing that can get shiny and is easier to find, but shiny river substances it is." I trotted closer to the river's edge and glanced across its surface. "That one thing would be the happiness in my eyes if you were nicer."

The youngling's lip curled in a snarl when Holly didn't knock it off. "You're yowling up the wrong tree, idiot. Take a trip to Twolegplace if you want chivalry. The only shiny thing around here is going to be your blood on my fur in a minute," Vex growled. It was a fairly empty threat - that wasn't a fight she could win, and she knew it - but maybe it'd make the black cat reconsider.

I gave a sigh and frowned. "You're a tree? Quite interesting." I headed towards a small willow that hung over the edge of the bank. I looked up to its uppermost branches. "Is this the right tree?" I yelled loudly before looking over. "Was that right?"
I headed back towards her with a ridiculously happy smile. "Why are the pretty ones always the meanest?" I asked, as if it was such a tragedy.

Tail lashing in exasperation, Vex bared her fangs. "Get with the times, old man." Either he'd never heard of the expression or was being intentionally ignorant… which she wouldn't put past Holly.
"I don't have time for this," snapped the still-damp asexual feline. She turned her back on the tom and started padding away.
