Dyre hissed. Why exactly had she come here, in the blistering heat, nearly impassable terrain, and virtual no water. Oh yes, she remembered now. To get information. About FireClan and DeathClan's war. The event had always fascinated her, especially DeathClan side. She had asked a DeathClanner, but, sadly, she had known nothing. It was just Dyre's luck to stumble upon DeathClan's newest member, instead of someone like Drought who actually knew something. If only she could get to know something. She had information to share, and information to gain. That was her job, right?

grenade was new in this area, having just arrived only a few days before. life in the canyon was a challenge however, from finding food to keeping her thirst quenched. to be honest, she hadn't succeeded by her own instinct. stalking a few common rouges here and there certainly paid off, since they, unbeknownst to them, showed her all the best places to hunt and where the clearest water trickled through. of course, finding someplace to sleep at night was more difficult than she had first thought. she had tried memorizing her way through the mass of tunnels and cave systems in the canyon when she wasn't too hungry and thirsty, and the cave-air and texture did seem to be something of her liking. but she had not yet gathered the courage to go deep enough in search of an actually good home, and certainly not deep enough to get lost in.
finding herself walking alone as always and carrying a simple mouse in her jaws, her mysterious blue eyes caught sight of another cat. socializing was not a very popular choice by the gray tabby she-cat, and she certainly wasn't about to make any strangers acquaintances anytime soon. but the cat seemed so angry and confused, it perked her interest and made a bit of amusement light up her sky-colored eyes. what would a little conversation do to the world?
"well, don't you look angry." grenade said as she approached the she-cat. her head tilted with curiosity and a small smirk etched out on her lips, the rouge went on. "haven't seen you around here before. then again, i haven't been here for nearly as long as most cats." grenade was not a very friendly cat. but she certainly liked to entertain herself when the opportunity came. and perhaps this stranger would off just that entertainment.

Dyre laughed at the notation of "haven't seen you hear before." She sighed. She had finally found someone, but she had no idea if the cat knew anything. But she supposed she should respond to the cat. "Of course you haven't seen me here before. I don't normally come to the Badlands. I prefer the plains. More time to chat, less time spent surviving. So, what's your name?" Dyre asked. The cat had said that she looked angry, but she decided not to respond to that. She was, agitated, but not angry. Anger was to be used on other cats, not on this forbidden landscape.

grenade considered those words. so, this was the badlands. it was good to know the little things the locals called home. "oh, i've never been to the plains." she admitted, giving her shoulders a light shrug. "i'm not familiar with any of this. but i do like a challenge." and, truth be told, surviving in the canyon was a challenge. but it was one she was glad to take. the stranger asked about her name, and grenade hesitated on giving it. of course, she had met countless cats before--all of which she hated, but nonetheless she had socialized at least more than a few times in her lifetime--and had given out her name to them. but in some cases, that ended up with half the territory whispering about her and rouge parties out to drive her out. at least, in one case that was. but the canyon didn't seem to be overly populated by cats, so maybe giving out her name wouldn't have the same results. "grenade." she finally said with a light lash of her tail. "my name is grenade. you?"

"Oh! I forgot to give you my name. It's Dyre. Nice to meet you Grenade." Dyre meowed. Grenade had been wary in giving her name. She must have a bad past, Dyre thought. Hmmm, she wasn't from the plains, but where. "So where were you before you came here?"

grenade nodded slowly at the name. dyre. she supposed it was a good name, since she has heard far worse ones. even she once held a name that could be considered one of the worst... at one point in her life. "i once lived in a fairly busy and dangerous town more than a half-moons walk from here." she admitted, though did not specify the direction of such town. the details shouldn't matter, for that place was no longer her home. "i've been traveling around since i was five moons of age. but i like the canyon here. i might stay longer than i originally thought." hopefully that news wouldn't anger the locals. that would be a pain. more enemies to deal with.
casting her blue eyes away, grenade's mind flashed back to a memory along her journey. sheltering with an old and heartless elder. it had been two moons after her father had disappeared when grenade had stumbled upon the mean-spirited male, and he had attempted to send her away with more than just a hiss and swipe of his claws. of course, grenade had reacted like her name had suggested. she had exploded in fury and smashed the tomcat's face into the sand, leaving deep claw marks along his shoulder. that night she had picked a piece of prey from his stash, since he promised kindness and food in return for his life, and she slept with one eye open in his little shelter. the next morning she had caught two rabbits to make up for the one she had eaten from him the night before and left them at his paws. whether he forgave her or not was behind her knowledge, and she certainly didn't know why she was remembering that memory now.
turning back to dyre, grenade decided to ask a question. "what about you? did you live here your whole life?" she lashed her tail towards the whole area, obviously not just specifying the canyon.

"Oh, I wander all over the place, although I mostly can be found in the plains. I thought I should come over to the Badlands for once, to see what is going on here. Pretty much same old though, blistering heat, cats that keep to themselves. So I suspect you plan on staying here?" Dyre meowed to Grenade. "I do know a bit about this place though, if you need some tips on how to survive..." Dyre truthfully didn't know that much about the Badlands from her own knowledge, but she had learned so much from observing and asking other cats that she felt that she had lived here her entire life.

grenade considered that information. so it seemed not many cats liked the canyon. that made her smile a bit with relief. the less cats in her new home, the better everyone was. no unnecessary fighting, or talking or anything of the like. if the rouges stayed in the plains and she in the canyon, everything would be just peachy. "good to know." she said simply, and then tilted her head at dyre's suggestion for survival tips. grenade already knew about the important stuff. where the freshest water was, the prey hid and things like that. but was there something she didn't know? something dyre was willing to tell her?
"if you know anything unique for surviving here that i haven't already picked up, then yes. i would like to know." grenade responded, and then added, "though i wouldn't have anything to give you in return. my information on the area is small, besides what i've seen and heard. but i can catch a fish or bird if that will suffice enough."

(Sorry so late my DeathClan cat has to do a lot right now) Grenade seemed to want to know the information about the Badlands. She quickly realized that she probably already knew a bit about the canyon. But, she might not know a whole lot about the fishing here. "Well I don't know if you know this, but there are some fishing stones here that are easy to fish on. And it's ok that you can't repay me. My job is to spread information." Dyre meowed. It was very possible that Grenade already knew that but, oh welll.
