After the death of Drought Sock had realized that he was in this rogue group for better or for worse. This meant he should probably get used to his new situation and find a permanent den. Up until then he had been living in any type of small shelter he could find, but none of them would work as a den for more than a few days. Today's goal was to find a real home and not get killed in the process. After that meeting tensions were high and he wasn't going to risk catching a cat in a bad mood.
Sock padded carefully through the clan. When he had lived on his own he had lived in a tree and he would like to find a den like that again, but if he had to compromise for something else he would. Sock kept his eyes on the trees, as they were still his first choice. His ears swivelled to keep him aware of his surroundings and he kept scenting the air in case something tried to sneak up on him. He was about to look down at the ground and give up looking for a tree den when he saw a small opening in a tree.
With a smile the Siamese runt launched himself into the hole, just managing to reach the opening. It was high up, but it would do until he got older and bigger. Sock looked around the small opening. It wasn't much, but it would definitely do. There was room for him to make a nest, and a place where he could put a pile for prey. It was good, not great, but good. He sniffed around the nook a bit and found only trace scents of some bird. It seemed like the tree wasn't currently occupied. Sock nodded and hopped out. He was about to go searching for something to make his nest out of when he caught the scent of another cat. He whirled around defensively.

Eris padded lazily through the territory, heading in the of her den. It had been next to several trees since they provided shade and as far as she'd seen, nicely for shelter when it rained.
Growing up around cats who always found a compromise, she'd decided making her own den was satisfactory enough. Most of it was done already. It was the shape of a dome and was small and cozy. It was made out of twigs, and the floor was littered with moss. She'd been coming back from a small forest since it was the season in which leaves were falling from the trees all the time leaving them bare, bunches of leaves held gingerly in her grasp. Last time it rained, her den was ruined since the rain eventually seeped through the twigs. Hopefully, the leaves would prevent that.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks, glancing surreptitiously behind herself, then let out a disgruntled sigh, whipping around. "Ay," she began irritably. "I'm not going to hurt you, I'm just working on my den." WORDS: 000 TAGS: 000 NOTES: is it cool if i post?

Sock stared down the cat who had showed up now. They didn't look too hostile, they also weren't one of the cats that had killed Drought. Perhaps Sock hadn't been close to the former leader, but he also didn't want to get close to the cats who had killed him. "Ah, I see." He murmured. He stood up straight, trying to make himself look bigger. The other cat was seemingly around the same age as him, but they were way bigger than him too. Him being a runt always made him feel so small.
He looked behind him for a second towards the tree where he had decided to make his den. "I'm working on my den too." He explained. "Is your's near here?" If he was going to have somebody living near him he wanted to know who so that he could stay on their good side. Of course he would prefer to have no neighbours, but it was almost a sure thing that he'd have somebody living near him. His ears were still on alert, just in case another cat decided to show up and attack. It was a common worry of his.

Eris nodded. "Yes, it's right over there," she replied, flicking her tail with a nonchalant shrug, pointing to a small den several feet away. She wasn't necessarily intimidated by the tom, but then again, she hadn't been intimidated by anyone in DeathClan. If anything, she was amused. Not that she was tough. No, she wasn't tough at all, it was just how she chose to show herself.
"Hmm," she hummed lazily, letting the words roll off her tongue. "I'm Eris by the way." As she got a better look at him, she realized she'd seen him before. "You've probably seen me around the clearing." He'd been in the tree, right? That was a good vantage point.
Before turning back to her den, she offered a smile. Perhaps it wasn't genuine, but it was still something. Maybe a peace offering. Or however he wished to see it. "I'm not dangerous..." she began. "I'm only threatened when someone I care for is hurt." WORDS: 000 TAGS: 000 NOTES: 000

Sock looked at the area that the other cat pointed to. He spotted the den fairly quickly and was surprised for a second that he hadn't seen it before, but then he remembered that he hadn't been looking at the ground, he had been looking at the trees. Now he was surprised that he hadn't crashed into it. He had come from that area, but maybe he hadn't exactly crossed it. He smiled at the den. It was nice. He tuned back into the other cat just in time to hear her say that her name was Eris.
"I'm Sock. Named after my 'socks'." He stated and lifted up his paw to show the fur on his legs that was black in the pattern of a sock. His father had named him that as a joke, since his siblings got such cool names and he just got Sock, but he had decided to take it as a good thing and embrace it. "Yea I think I saw you there. You were much nicer than some of the cats there." He stated. There was a cat who had been a reddish color, and she had been very mean. Sock had been in a tree the whole time, mostly just making fun of the whole affair and trying to figure out what he was going to do with the knowledge that the position of leader was up for grabs.
Sock chuckled at her next statement. Not dangerous, huh? He looked her up and down. Her statement seemed to be true enough, but he knew that everybody in Deathclan was capable of being dangerous, so he didn't let his guard down just yet. "I like to think I'm dangerous, but hey I'm talking to you instead of fighting you so maybe I'm not very dangerous." He joked. He looked around again trying to think about what he had been doing before Eris had begun talking to him.

She nodded thoughtfully. "Interesting," she murmured, observing the toms' patterns for a moment, then grunted. His pelt was quite intriguing in contrast to her plain one. She gave a nonchalant shrug.
After a moment, her eyes widened in surprise. She'd rarely been complimented by another cat. Especially not about her persona, or that she was nice. To say she was surprised was an understatement at best.
She placed her leaves next to the den and starting putting them in between the cracks, or plastering to the small den with mud. Thankfully it was abundant now, as it was raining nonstop. She wouldn't have been surprised if I started now, actually. While doing so, the tom seemed to have forgotten what he'd been doing before. "Oh, sorry... did I interrupt you before?" she asked, curious. Though she was curious, it was definitely not evident. She did well to hide her emotions. "Perhaps you were working on your den?" the dark she-cat wondered out loud.

Sock watched the other cat gather supplies for her own den. While his new den didn't need any external patches it did need inside things. It seemed that Eris' den would need both. That's where his den came in handy. He'd have less work to do. She asked if she had interrupted him. Sock supposed that she had, in a way, but so far it hadn't ended in anything to terrible, so he could deal with it. She then made him remember what he had been doing before that. "Yes." He stated, "I had been trying to find some moss."
Sock needed to make a nest, and moss seemed to be one of the best ways. He lazily began wandering around trying to find a small patch of moss. The other cat had moss so there would probably be a cluster around there somewhere. He kept his ears on Eris in case she had something else to say, but right now his mind was set on finding something to line his nest with.

She smiled softly though it wasn't too obvious. It seemed she'd met a potential friend. That was good. What was better was she actually liked and didn't mind the cats' presence. She had a tendency to grow irritable around those who were ignorant. Her mind drifted back to Red, though, after a moment, she decided to get back to work.
"Hmm," she murmured out loud, thinking momentarily. It looked nice, and it seemed everything was placed well. This would suffice for now, and she would decide if it were good enough after the next rain. Giving a small, silent purr, the dark she-cat stepped back to admire her work when she noticed the tom in search of something.
Looking at his den which was situated in the tree, it took her a moment to realize that it was well... bare. "If you're looking for moss, there's some by the trees over there next to the small stream." Flicking her tail, she glanced over at him for a brief second. "It may be a bit damp, though, since it rained just recently." From her experiences, she knew some cats hated sleeping in damp areas. "If you need time to dry yours somewhere, you could take some of mine until then." She glanced at her den. It was safe to say she had a lot right now.

Sock's ears perked up when the other cat mentioned something about moss. He looked in the direction she mentioned and walked over to a small patch of moss. As she kept talk he bundled some together and picked it up. He walked back over to where she was with the damp moss in his mouth. She was offering to let him use some of her's, but he didn't want to rely on her for something, especially when they had just met. "No I'm fine." He mumbled around the moss.
Sock wander back over to the tree his new den was in and launched himself up into the hollow. Up there he began setting up the moss in a shape that looked enough like a nest that he could sleep in it soon. Not right now, but it would dry soon enough and before it did he could just sleep somewhere else. Sock poked his head out and looked down at the other cat. "So what do you do for fun here?" He asked. So far nobody did anything for fun, other than fight.

She simply gave a nonchalant shrug. "Suite yourself," the dark she-cat meowed, now rearranging the moss, leaving whatever was leftover in one corner of the den. She let her claws unsheathe for a moment, enjoying the feeling of soft moss under her claws. She hadn't had a comfortable resting place for a while.
Suddenly he mentioned fun. "Hmm?" she asked, confused. What did he mean by fun? She rarely enjoyed herself, though, unlike most cats, she had fun in the rain. "I like exploring..." she said a bit distantly. "There's a lot to discover around here, you know?" There would always be something unidentified. She liked making discoveries.
