FadingnightThe sky was clear and littered with stars.
Moon hated it. Once, these nights brought him and Sunheart with joy, filling them up with sweet thoughts to soothe their sleep. Now, it brought feelings of abandonment and betrayal bubbling to surface that he thought it would burst through his skin and he'd collapse, choking on his own blood. That never happened. He almost wished it did. Almost. The only thing better would be the feeling of getting his revenge, feeling his claws tear through that fox-heart's throat.
No. That wasn't right. She needed to suffer. She didn't deserve a quick death. It needed to be slow. Let her watch her guts spill out while she suffocated on blood clogging up her airways. He supposed he should've seen it coming. C'mon, Fading?! It was practically a sign that she was a cat of change. No matter who she tore apart on her way out.
Moon angrily clawed at the ground, disturbing the soil with deep claw marks. He could almost imagine it was flesh, with blood pouring deliciously from the openings. Then he heard a disturbance. Pawsteps. He whipped his head to who it was. Upon seeing who it was....
The corners of his mouth curved upwards into a smile screaming elation, anger, and insanity all at once.
Starry.

Fadingnight may have made her transition to the new clan but she definitely couldn't go without the moonlit walks on the territory, even if the night breeze was chilling and there were no trees to block any of it. Although, she always found herself straying towards the Treeclan border. Perhaps to catch a glimpse of her daughter Sunsetshadow, or her close friend Thistlefang. But her former mate? She did't even know how she would begin to explain her transition. In fact, he was the last cat she was looking forward to seeing... she felt as if she needed time. As if they both needed time.
It was just her luck on the other hand, that Sunheart was the only cat she would see tonight. As soon as she spotted his bright orange pelt she knew exactly who the tom was. By now his alter ego would have most definitely gotten the better of him. When the feline was still situated in Treeclan she could almost tell that just her being there was the thing keeping his better side in control. Now... that she had moved there was most definitely a shift.
"Hi..." She trailed, stopping a good distance away from him and keeping her ground. Her amber eyes still as emotionless as they had always been, searching over the tom and looking for any ounce of sanity.

Moon twisted the once polite and sweet tom's face into an angry snarl.
"Hi?!" He screamed. His claws sliding out, digging into the dirt beneath his paws. The fox-heart didn't even have the guts to get close! Trying to keep a safe distance from her, likely fearing his wrath.
Then it shifted into a nearly calm smile, less than barely holding back the torrent of rage that had just briefly leaked through just a moment ago. "That's all you have to say, isn't it.... Fadingnight." He let loose a laugh completely devoid of humor or joy, a noise filled with hurt and confusion. "You just left! You didn't even tell me or even that little mouse Sunheart anything! You just left! And I had to hear from another mouth that a cat by the name of Fadingnight deserted us without even a goodbye!" The anger and pain tore itself from his heart and out of his mouth. He was practically seeing red.
"I should tear your throat out right now, code or no." He growled, not caring that trespassing was against the code. It would all be worth it to tear out the heart of the she-cat who had torn out his. He took a step closer, edging the border.
He smiled, insane murder flashing in his once shimmering eyes. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't give you what exactly you gave me."

He was insane, by far. There was no more hint of love in his eyes, just a blaring crimson hatred that seemed to spray from his canines as he hissed at her. It was almost like poison. Ears laid back against her head and muscles clenched she stifled a reply, "I'm sorry..." Fadingnight mewed, keeping a solid gaze on the tom as she did, slowly relaxing her muscles again.
Sighing and standing straight up, her long legs supporting her narrow body she took a step forward as well. Although there was still a good rabbit length between the two because she wouldn't dare go farther, she didn't have any death wish.
"I'm sorry I never told you... I should have... but it was my choice." She finished, knowing she had done wrong but silently praising herself on the inside.

There was something tamer about St-Fadingnight.
So... Was she suddenly better than he was? That made Moon's blood boil. He wanted to sink his claws into her throat and uproot her flesh, until he found her bones cradled inside her muscles.
He laughed. "Sorry?! That's all you have to say?! That's not going to cut it!" He was standing where he was just barely not trespassing on Fireclan lands. "Yeah, it was your choice and you killed us! You killed Sunheart and now I'm all there is! He won't even say anything!" He screamed.
He wouldn't tell anyone, but he was beginning to miss that little sunshine and rainbows kid. Sunheart had been the polite one, brimming with kindness for all. And now he was asleep and didn't want to wake up, ever. He missed him.
And it was all her fault.

Sunheart was pushing hard on the border, extremely hard. She felt as if he would cross over at any point, and somehow it would be her fault; this was not something she needed. But on the other hand Sunheart's change was her fault, she was the breaking point. Fadingnight was the reason he was no longer the same bright ray of sunshine that he used to be and she couldn't help but feel guilty she had released every shadow inside of him.
"Sunheart is still in there." She began, still standing her ground but keeping a straight face and still figure. When Fading talked she stood very still, her jaw and eyes being the only things that really every made movement, especially in serious conversations. "Sunheart is still the one who was born to that body, not this side."
Fadingnight knew well that somewhere in there, somewhere hidden and deep down there was still the bright little orange apprentice she had met so many moons ago as a kit. Somewhere in there.

Moon stopped.
Then a crazy smirk spread across his face, hearing Fadingnight practically plead for her precious Sunheart. She was wearing a poker face, but he knew better. She was nervous. She was running scared. "That doesn't matter." He growled, despite the smile. "I'm the one in control..."
Then a brilliant idea hit him. He raised his head high. "But if you're so desperate to see him, perhaps you'd like a true taste of what you've done." He blinked and empty oceans once more filled with shimmering light. His entire stance relaxed and he backpedaled quickly, as if in a panic. Then his entire being screamed submission.
He was crouching, having to look up to meet Starry's eyes. His tail tucked under his belly. Ears folded back and fresh tears forming.
This was not Moon. This was Sunheart. He was finally awake. He choked back a sob. "I-I-I...." His voice was so broken, a sharp contrast from the crazy snarling that came out of his voice before.
"I'M SORRY!" He screamed, his pain resounding through the forest.
((OH GAWD this was the only way I could think of keeping them from crossing the border yeeeeesh))
