rivershade [ notes ]
| Ivy, for once, allowed herself to openly take pride in having successfully hunted, purring as Rivershade gave her praise. Secretly, she noted that it was still entirely possible that her mentor was only flattering her in an attempt to establish a deeper relationship between the two, but in this case, she was willing to not think about it too deeply. She felt entitled to at least a little praise, as manufactured as it may have been.
She set her prize down for a moment, then tasted the air once more to see if she could detect any other prey nearby. She didn't see a point in spending too much more effort engaging in a conversation with Rivershade, but she doubted that te warrior would let her get away with not talking to her, since there really wasn't any other alternative. She was tired, anyway, after having worked so long. Even if there was more to catch, she doubted she would be able to.
"There doesn't seem to be anything else to hunt here," she informed Rivershade, picking up her catch once more. Ivy only nodded her appreciation when her mentor complimented her again, already walking along the path back to the farm. |

She scented the air, nothing new or fresh was apparent. She nodded as the feline reported just that. "Very well, let us head back" Ivy started ahead. This action told River that she wasn't in the mood to talk... River looked at her paws. Walking a pace behind Ivy. Making it a point to leave a space, as she felt the distance the apprentice was making mentally? She didn't want to push Ivypaw she seemed to take lots in but was very...reserved to her own self. She sighed. Looking up she felt disapointment hit her heavily they're seroudnings were scary and new.. she missed the soft cover of home. The chill of pebble and streams... she noted the scent of there clan and others growing closer. She gave a slow blink. "Your welcome to help your self to something to eat, we will train tomorrow if your up for it" she said with a tick voice. She shook her head, as if to shake the jumbled saddend thoughts away.

rivershade [ end thread? ]
| Ivy only felt a small pang of regret as they walked home quietly. Even if she had felt like talking, though, what would they have talked about? She had prey to carry, and she would have prioritized that over any conversation anyhow.
Still the pang lingered, though, even when Ivy knew it was sensible not to talk. Eventually they reached the farm, and Ivy began to pad away to place her prize on the fresh-kill pile, until she heard the odd tone of Rivershade's voice. The pang started to ache.
Fine. Rivershade had been a suitable enough mentor. Ivy would be nice, this one time. She set her prey down right there, before even reaching the pile, and turned back to face her mentor. "Thank you," she meowed, trying to seem unphased, but it wasn't difficult to tell that she was rather flustered. She hardly gave out praise to anyone, besides herself. "This training session was informative and....enjoyable." With a small dip of her head, she turned, picked up her prey and padded away from her mentor. It was hard to ignore the way the ache in her chest had faded after she had been nice to somebody else. |
