Mintpaw instantly became silent, respecting Laurelpaw and giving her space to breath. After a while, she spoke. "If you ever need someone to talk to, I'll be here." She thought for a second, before adding, "I won't pretend like I know what you've been through, because I don't, but I will still listen." Mintpaw winced, did that sound harsh? She didn't mean it that way, she just wanted Lory to know she would not pretend like other cats do. She knew that that wasn't the right thing to do.

Laurelpaw gave a sad smile, truly touched. Any other cat would imeadiatly start to say 'well I sort of know how you feel because..."' and thengive some sort of example that was in no way liked. "Thank you... but I don't think talking about those times is the best idea." she said, partially not wanting to remember and partially not waning to dump the memories on any other clan cat.

"Alright," Mintpaw said reasuringly, knowing that pushing for information is definately not a good thing to do. If Lory didn't want to walk about it, she wouldn't ask about it.
She smiled, and tried to take the subject away from the depressing matter. "So, are we just going to sit here all night?"

Laurelpaw laughed and shook her head. "I suppose not. Wanna take a walk? It's really pretty out at night."

Mintpaw nodded and stood, waiting for Lory to jump down from the rock. "You might know the land better, than me," she admitted with a smile.

Lory made her way down from the rock carefully and nodded into the darkness, falling into step with the other apprentice as she led the way.

They walked for a bit, before Mintpaw started to say, "My mentor has not started my training yet." She sighed, at this rate, she wouldn't be permitted to be a warrior by the time she was old enough. Looking at Lory, she could tell that the other cat was suppose to be a warrior, but was stuck as an apprentice. She didn't want to hit any sore spots, so she said nothing of that subject.

Lory nodded. "Same here. First my mentor changed with no reason before training was started and now my new one apparently has nothing to teach either." she rolled her eyes.

Mintpaw snuffled a laugh as she padded through the snow. "I wonder what others are learning about. Hunting..." Here she pounced on a leaf, and it wasn't too horrible a pounce either. "Exploring the territory. Yet, aren't we already doing that?" Her eyes shined with amusement.

Laurelpaw shrugged. "Want to try to learn some stuff by ourselves?" she asked. "Its better than waiting around for our mentors to pop up one morning and start training us. Plus I already know a little from before I joined the clans, so we know it won't be completely useless."

Mintpaw nodded with a smile. "That's smart. Where do we start? Most mentors start at a territory tour." As she said this, she gave Lory a bored look. "Let's please not start there."

Lory shook her head. "We can all smell borders. What about... fighting?" she asked, crouching down in a defensive crouch and motioning for Mintpaw to copy.

Mintpaw caught on fast, and she crouched with a grin on her face. "Your on," she said teasingly and lashed her tail.

Laurelpaw nodded and decided not to go all out as she knew what she could do when she went all out and lost exsactly the point. She struck out with a front strike before moving back out of the way. "That's a typical front strike," she explained.

Mintpaw nodded, and tried it herself. It was fairly simple. She smiled.
