A wide-eyed kitten sat in the back of the nursery, gaze fixated intently on an insect. Thymekit had found a cricket, and it was one of the biggest bugs he’d ever seen. ’It’s bigger than my paw!’
Wanting to see if his thought was true, Thymekit carefully scooped the cricket up, surprised that it hadn’t jumped away as he did this. Maybe it was too scared to move. ’It’s okay mister bug. I won’t hurt you.’
But then a flurry of paws came thudding his way, and the insect sprung off him. Thymekit watched it leave, then looked up with an offended expression.

tiny shoulders and a tinier frame, sweetkit was an outsider, no doubt about it. big green eyes and sharp tongue, he didn't feel like a treeclan kitten with their strong, muscled legs and already built shapes. then again, he wasn't one - not really, anyway.
so sweetkit, all big green eyes and pretty shoulders, kept to the background, stepping in only when needed.
he didn't consider tripping unceremoniously and stumbling towards another kitten a good reason to socialise, but the kit was looking at him with a rather offended expression after watching the insect between his paws spring away, so he felt pressured to say something.
"why were you talking to an insect?" he meowed, voice slightly disdained (though he didn't mean it) and accent lyrical over his smooth mew. "what is the purpose?"

Thymekit stared at the kit with a face that was clearly ticked off. ’What did he even trip on? His own paws?’ He thought with an eye roll, though a guilty conscience quickly crept in. ’Maybe he’s just learning how to walk. I shouldn’t be so rude.’ The tom thought with a huff, letting his crossed expression melt off his face. He looked away from the cat in hopes of finding something else to do.
But then the kitten spoke. Thymekit turned around and shot him a glare. It wasn’t because of what Sweetkit said, but it was the way he said it that irked him. ”Why is it any of your business?”

((*drops in*))
Despite Ashykit's foreign origins, he didn't look too out of place amongst Treeclan kittens. Aside from the fact, that he didn't really resemble his mother at all. He vaguely recalled having a mother before Autumndust... But he guessed they were both his Moms and since his first Mom was gone now... That made it okay and clear to call Autumndust Mom. Even if he hadn't seen her around lately, ever since she took him into Treeclan.
He'd been watching from afar, some interaction between two other kits he'd heard the names of... But he couldn't quite remember. From what it looked like, one had offended the other by startling a bug that was held gently in the paw of the offended kitten.
He was admittedly nervous and uncertain at the thought of approaching. He kept setting a paw down in front of him, as if to walk forward, before changing his mind and withdrawing it... Only to repeat the process. He sucked in air, and realized the only way he'd do anything is if he acted too fast for his brain to catch up! Without another thought, he dashed forward, thankfully skidding to a stop in time, so he stood beside the two kittens. "Er, hi!" He said hurriedly.

a sharp response instantly formed in sweetkit's mouth, but for the sake of being nice (he really didn't want to get into a fight today) he pressed the tip of his tongue against a wall of keen, white kitten teeth and bit the insult back. tips of his ears twitching, wanted to be pressed against his head, he forced them straight (a sign of peace, right?) and meowed smoothly and lightly, "none at all."
then another cat joined the conversation. a sigh almost pushed its way out of his lungs, but he forced a smile - a small one without teeth - and blinked. "hello."
even to him, his accent was glaringly obvious - and though he didn't know it, it was kind of a nice accent, soothing to the ears. all he heard, though, was outsider, outsider, outsider. he didn't belong.
maybe he didn't want to belong.

Thymekit responded to Sweetkit with the simple a flick of an ear. If this cat could move past a little argument, so could he. The tom said nothing else, mentally preparing for some awkward silence. That is, until another kitten came skidding up. He gave a nod to the greeting, gaze moving to Sweetkit as he said hello.
’He sure talks funny.’ Thymekit thought, wondering how old Sweetkit was. He didn’t look much younger than Thymekit himself, yet he had trouble walking and a strange way of talking. ’Maybe he just... hit his head really hard and now is a little messed up.’ Thymekit was saddened at the thought. If that really was the problem, then he ought to be nicer to this kit.
He looked to the ground and kept quiet, ears perked to listen to the other two interact.

Something about one of the kit's smiles didn't sit right with Ashykit, but he didn't say anything about it. "I'm Ashykit." He said, introducing himself, grinning albeit a bit awkwardly. He hoped these two liked him at least somewhat. It would be kind of lame if he came up to these two, and they didn't like him the slightest bit.
He tried not to droop when he was ignored by the kit who only gave him a brief nod before staring at the other kit. "Uh... Can I have your names?" He asked. It would be nice to have actual names... And maybe be less ignored by the two, who seemed to have some problems, made clear by the tension in the air.

sweetkit was acutely aware of the first kit staring at him, gaze burning into his watercolour pelt. he didn't like it, didn't like the way the kit then turned his gaze to the floor, knowing what must be going through the kit's mind, hating what must be going through the kit's mind, maybe he should never have come here, maybehewasbetteroffalonemaybemaybemaybe-
then the other kit spoke, a slight hesitant stutter at the beginning of his sentence. he looked up, meeting the newcomer's eyes for the first time. he felt bad for the second kit, watching as he visibly drooped a bit as the first kit acknowledged him with only a nod. detached he may be, a part of him still ached, even if just a little bit. he turned his big green eyes on the kit, pushing what he assumed was a comforting glance into his gaze. his smile lost a bit of its forcedness, the corners of it softening and becoming more genuine.
"sweetkit," he meowed, accent lilting. "it's nice to meet you."

Ashykit. Thymekit’s eyes flicked up and down, getting a good look at the stranger. He wore an awkward-looking smile, which Thymekit didn’t understand. Why fake a smile if it’s obvious it looks fake? He stared at the kit for a little longer than he should have, then turned to look at his paws when Ashykit gave a question. ’I’ll let this other tom answer first.’
Sweetkit. He wasn’t sure how fitting that name was. ’Maybe he’s nicer than I think and just gave off the wrong impression.’ He lifted his head, glancing between the two kits. It seemed it was his turn to speak.
”Thymekit.”

Ashykit found that... Sweetkit, despite his name not fitting all too well he felt, seemed nicer than first appearances. Maybe these two had needed a moment to relax a little...? It was entirely possible that this was the case. "It's nice to meet you too." Glancing at the other kit, who seemed to be staring, Ashykit felt ever so slightly... Uncomfortable, really. It was weird how he stared without speaking a word, without even blinking, so it was most definitely staring instead of simple looking.
"Thymekit? That's a nice name."

thymekit. so that was the name. he glanced back at the wide-eyed kitten, passive-aggression gone from his gaze but mildly curious instead. he, himself, wasn't too sure what a thyme was. perhaps a clan thing, he thought to himself, thinking about all the words that made no sense to him that all of treeclan used so commonly. it didn't exactly help him settle it; though it's hard to help someone settle in if they themselves do not want to settle in.
he turned his green gaze back on ashykit, then glanced lightly back at thymekit, waiting to see if either of them would continue the conversation.

Thymekit said nothing when Ashykit commented on his name. He had a feeling he was just saying that to be nice. He stared at the tabby for a few long moments after he finished talking, until he eventually turned to look at Sweetkit. Ashykit was done speaking, so it only made sense that the other kitten would speak next. He waited patiently.

Ashykit looked to Sweetkit, who seemed to finally have escaped his own hostility. That was nice, but now there was this awkward silence as Sweetkit seemed to be unable to settle on who to stare at. Looking at Thymekit, he was exactly the same. Ashykit visibly drooped at the awkward silence in the air. ".... Uh.... How come no one's saying anything....?" He asked uncertainly. It was really weird. Did Sweetkit and Thymekit not like each other enough to not even talk anymore? He didn't... He didn't understand this.

(*walks over*)
"what's the commotion? is something interesting finally happening?!" her excitement and boredom were plain. she turned her head to survey the three cats while she waited for a answer. she noticed at once that one wasn't Clanborn, that another had been ticked off and the last was confused about something. worry seeped through her as she pondered whether she should have come over to this huddle of kits.
